It is great that Pete's Dad is healthy and willing to lend a hand during an emergency. It was probably very nostalgic for him to run the MD over a hayfield in the summer heat trying to beat a thunderstorm. Of course with a time crunch the bailer had to have a flat. It look to me Pete beat a NASCAR pit crew to get a new skin on! Good job, time to open a cold MOXIE and watch the storm roll in.

Pete - I think these three videos would make a great playlist on your RU-vid channel. What an excellent series of videos and footage from your farm!

"The Farm" got 1 of 2 IH 45T balers made in late '44. Most young men were in the military so this relieved the kids, old men and women from having to put up loose hay. Dad baled around 2 counties with it 'till the mid 60's'

Sitting here thinking about how that smells! The tractor fumes, the sun kissed sweaty skin and of course the hay! Summer is here!! Yay!! Farming is the best way to enjoy this amazing NY weather while it lasts.

Haying was always fun when I was a kid staying on the grandparents farm summers. By the way, I also like your choice of music you incorporate with your videos.

I will say - I don't remember ever seeing a drone overhead or a go-pro or even a polaroid camera while raking and baling in the 60's and 70's. Sure wish we did. That would have been groovy. Very nice video Houston.

Times sure have changed, there were no round bales when I was growing up. We had to handle all of the hay bales by hand and my grandfather packed them heavy. Good times 😃

We just bailed a wagon load of hay yesterday here in central pa. We only make hay for a couple of beef cows we raise to butcher every year. Still enjoyable tho. Love the videos Pete

I never knew how those huge round bales of hay were made. Thank you for showing us the entire process. It never ceases to amaze me how all the different machines are involved in making the finished product. 25 round bales of hay will feed your animals for quite awhile. I think you still have time to even get a second round for 25 more before fall arrives. Amazing how it all comes together. I really enjoy learning new things that interest me about farming. Thank you for feeding me the knowledge

Love the video, Pete. In my day we did it the old fashion way. Bucked it by hand. Throw the bales on the trailer, then take a loaded wagon to the hay barn and stack it. We did have an elevator so we could stack it high. But we were young, strong, and enjoying life on the farm. After the day was over we would hit the swimming hole. I enjoy watching everything that you do for us. From overhauling the MD to watching the cows eat.

Dad is always ready to help but I suspect running the MD sweetens the deal!

Its 6 a.m. and I'm riding the commuter train to my job in Los Angeles, I remember back in the 70's when I baled hay using old tractors. I lived in town about 1,200 people, some of the local farmers knew me and would come pick me up to bale. Great cinematography, well done!

I am tedding today rake and bale tomorrow. The 7 acres I cut was thick it had been bushhoged for 2 years. It was clogging my hay bine. My first hay season I love it.

The sound affects are cool, I had a JD 410 , a cycle bar mower & a hay rake just like yours, I always enjoyed making hay but I only have 1 jersey cow now so I sold my equipment to a buddy ( not the tractor) and I buy my hay, plus the hay fields I was cutting were sold when the old farmer that was letting me cut his fields to keep them from growing up passed away. He & I always had a good time at haying time , he had so mush good advice to give me and lots of good conversation sitting in the shade drinking ice cold tea talking about the GOOD OLD DAYS.

It was interesting to see how hay is baked. Growing up my grandfather would mow the orchards, let it sit till mostly dry then we had to go out and fork it onto the trailer, then off into the barn. Us kids used to get into so much trouble if he caught us in the barn jumping off the highest we could climb to and landing in the hay. Those were the good old days.

Nice job Pete, I haven't done any round bales yet, but I did do a few, (42), square bales. The rain was predicted for my area for today and on Thursday last week which only gave me 2 days, not enough window, but neither day had rain. Oh well, better safe than sorry, I try not to let any hay get wet, but you know the rest of the story. Thanks Pete, always enjoy watching you cut, rake and bale, even though I do it too, gives me a different perspective. Have a super week!

Last year's hay baling series was excellent: I thought it should be entered in some sort of competition! This year, you have done it again, Pete!
