they're not shocked that he can do it, They were more shocked at his talent of catching those punts. How well his catching ability carried over from rugby. It was nice to watch
+Andrew Pemberton Too right. Nobody says 'no worries, Mate. Nor do we put any shrimp on the barbie' sheesh. we can thank Paul Hogan for this crap. They can't even pronounce the words properly. Well they got vegemite correct.
@Wait What? exactly. If it were so easy, the NFL would be full of ex-rugby players. The fact is they are both very different games that require different skill sets.
@@dannykrinkle4726 Jordan Mailata playing for the Eagles. Didn't make it with the best in Rugby League in Australia ,so he went to NFL. Now he plays for the Eagles. Just Saying 🙌 Though was a massive loss for rugby league 🤦 But so happy for Jordan.
it's not. they're just doing their job by announcing. you're joking, right?....... search up players like Saquon Barkley and tell me if any rugby player can even come close to replicating that.
As someone who plays rugby it's funny when the commentators are surprised when hayne tackles or catches the ball, NFL is more tactical but rugby is much more fitness and skill based and that's why hayne stood out a lot in his short NFL career.
dark energy in life wants to constantly pull you down, how down? all the way. Imagine being at the top of the top, now at the bottom of the bottom. Leason to us all. Be aware of whats inside of you.
I remember I watched all the pre season games just to see what this guy could do and he did not disappoint. Every time he touched the ball he was dangerous. Unpredictable and exciting to watch. Miss the dude man. You dont see a man fight for yards like a rugby player much in the NFL.
For all Americans watching, this guys 2009 NRL season was one of the best ever in its 100+ year history. Watch some of his NRL highlights and you’ll see how good he was in the NRL
@@LeonardLuzon If he hadn't been such a narcissistic prat. He could have tried out for the CFL or for another team after being cut, and his attitude stank. He was crowing about what a genus he was just for making the roster, not for actually achieving anything.
Man the niners should’ve gave him a chance he had real promise to be a solid RB and even as a return man. Real shiftiness and raw ability to run the ball vision and technique can be coached and he could’ve been something. I was rooting for his shot
He did make the team in week 1, just he played terribly in the regular season. He had 3 fumbles in the combined 31 times he touched the ball (10%), and had 3.1 yards per carry on offense.
I think nerves got to him, he had so much hype from Australia it must have been nuts. NFL is success in short bursts and he played bad his first game, not good when there is crazy amounts of money involved, plus he didn't really fit the mold. Was a good experiment, hands down any NFL player would get smoked in NRLeague or NRUnion. 80 minutes of constant gameplay trying to break the enemy wall is a very different game. Would love to see Allstar NRL vs NFL though, would be so interesting
Im with you! I only heard about Hayne's nfl games from the newspaper, and it said he played average. Watching this, i thought THE HAYNE PLANE did pretty mean*(*=cool outside nz), and i rekon they should have given him a shot!! Jarrod is still 1 of the best ever 2 play rugby "LEAGUE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hayne's got all the technical assets he needs from his time playing rugby, which is a much more technically skilled game, that's not an insult to NFL it's just a fact. He'll fly in the USA.
+Stokie09123 Lol no. Rugby is in no way shape or form a more technically skilled game. If it was that easy, Hayne wouldn't have had so much trouble picking up regular blocking assignments. That's not to even mention blocking schemes for the blitz which even fool people that have been playing American Football their entire life. Or learning receiver routes for when he has to catch a pass or his hot routes out of the backfield when the blitz is coming and the QB needs to throw for a short gain. Rugby strategy is mostly just running forward and waiting to be tackled, outside of the occasional set play or strategic kick. I guess you'd see more strategy in League than Union because of the rules, but that's not saying much compared to what they are doing in the NFL.
I don’t reckon Val Holmes will make it. He looks average in his highlights. Hayne has more break aways. In saying that we’ve only seen little footage on Holmes so far. Hope he makes it though
@@whyareyougeh5488 it's weak in American football too. that was against a 5'8 3rd stringer who wasn't even going to make the team, stop trying to act like rugby is anywhere above it.
As a English rugby league fan, who watches a lot of the NRL games, I hope he makes the cut, he seems to have done well from the clips, he was a class rugby league player
+Orion Is that $36k per week over 52 weeks? Or only during season? Basically, what is the yearly figure? If it's over 52 weeks, then once adjusted for exchange rates, it's close enough to $2.5 million AUD. That's a big pay rise over what he was previously earning back in Aus.
+Jez4prez1 Apparently with his salary, sponsorship and merchandise deal he's going to make around 12 million. Which is about what he'd have made in his entire NRL career lol. Such a shame, I want the top athletes to come into rugby league rather than leave it all the time.
Ariel Wainzinger I'm well aware that it's a good business decision I already pretty much said that when I said he'd make more in one year of NFL than his entire career. However I disagree with the end of your comment. He's been absolutely shit, so shit they've dropped him and he's already looking for another franchise for next season because it's unlikely they'll offer him a new contract. He can't read the plays, he can't block, he keeps switching hands which leads to fumbles and he still runs too high to have any success at RB. He's a good runner, he was always going to do well returning kicks that doesn't show NFL is a joke, kick returns are barely even relevant to the result of a game and the fact it's the only thing he can do shows how in over his head he is.
Linked to here after seeing the Steve Matai hit on Dave Tyrell , just the most brutal form tackle I have ever seen wow NRL has some really interesting players
Issue with many of his runs is pad level. He runs very vertical and stands tall instead of lowering his shoulder. He also seems to lack some explosion. Nice balls skills and vision though for the most part. I remember when this guy was the story. Was pulling for him hard.
Ya Father he only got a sniff because they were a joke . He isn’t good enough at nfl certainly a great athlete and league player .but it’s near impossible for anyone of a hundred university first teamers to make the grade let alone a newbie .
Travis Kirk Yeah that came as a bit of a shock. He's representing Fiji Rugby 7s in the olympics. But what's he gonna do when the Olympics finish? That'll be the big question.
+BounceTo TheBeat he is going to rugby in europe or Japan , MAYBE back to NRL but depends on which club still has salary cap room left . This whole olympics thing is just a PR excuse so the 49ers dont look bad and Hayne is spared the indignity of being cut , knew he wouldn't make the 53 this season with the draft picks and RB's they resigned from last year.
