I lost my youngest son who was 19 in a car wreck last week. My family is grieving and having a very difficult time. We buried him 1 day shy of his 20th birthday. My oldest son is 22 and is lost without his brother. At his lowest point tonight he turned on the radio and this song was playing. He felt as if his little brother was sending him a message. He found great comfort in listen to this song and asked us to listen to it. We sat around crying our eyes out at how touching this was for him to hear. Thank you for making such a beautiful song.

I woke up to it on my TV, I was sleeping and woke up to the portion where it goes OH My brother don't you worry bout me...it was in an insurance commercial...crazy cuz never heard it and for the next month it came on all the time and then disappeared..love the song...miss my bro

I love how The Head and the Heart songs start out slow and then build into an awesome masterpiece.

I find comfort in this song when my sister's mental health starts suffering and eventually ends up in the hospital. She's so intelligent, but her mind gets the best of her. You're going to get through this sis, we're here for you! Love you!

I remember listening to this song when I lived in Oklahoma. It makes me think of long drives on empty plains and beautiful sunsets and just a slower, simpler pace of life.

I grew up listening to Zeppelin, G&R, Tool, Slayer, RATM, Pantera, Metallica. Now I listen to these guys, the Avett Brothers, Dr. Dog, MMJ, & Lumineers. How times have changed.

people need to get together and start doing crazy stuff like hanging out in the snow singing songs with hundreds of twinkling lights surrounding them. so much possibility in the world and most of it is wasted over the fear of being weird or eccentric.

Every time I think of my brother who abandoned all of us 8 years ago, I play this song. I miss him and I hope he comes home or at least phones. Him leaving was pretty dramatic and I think he's in Eastern Canada or New York but I can't be sure. It breaks my heart when I find I'm getting used to not having him around, we were best friends since we were kids and I'm already starting to forget his voice. He's never met my wife, kids, or his other nieces and nephews. I know he may be struggling with schizophrenia and I hope he's not too lost in his mind.

This has been me for 2 years, and 11 months , my dad committed suicide in 2020, and I fell in love with someone who didn’t feel the same shortly after, it all hurts soooo much, but this song makes me feel at some sort of peace, I pray all of you who is going through something can find the light, we all are born for something and I hope whoever reads this finds the purpose, I’m 22 now and still haven’t found my purpose, but I will, God will guide us all through the right path, my thoughts have been hurting me, but this week I have just let go of this pain and negativity, stand on your two feet and do something productive, even if you don’t feel like it (I surely don’t, but I’m trying) you try too, cause whoever you are I know you have the strength to do so, just live your life day to day, it might feel like life is against you, but it’s not, it’s just to make you a stronger person, so you can eventually guide whomever to a right place, God Bless you all, HAVE a Wonderful and Blessed day everyone!!!!!!!!!! I was at Red Rocks Sept 15 2022. I went with my wife for her birthday and wasn't really a fan. Guys I had a magical experience, I am not sure why but I started crying during this song, tears just streaming down my face. I grew up in church and was never moved like I was this night. I can't put into word what this meant to me, it changed me in some way. Music is Magic!

Who cares if they go "mainstream" the world needs to hear THIS kind of music... this is the type of music that can change a person- and for the better.

I've probably listened to this song over 100 times and still I get goosebumps listening to this song and pretty much all of their songs. Every time. Pure perfection

If you have not seen these guys live, they are going to tour soon. Go see them. In many cities, it's GA and forty bucks. Stading in the crowd and everyone singing this song is pure joy. I've done it many times. It's never anything less of fresh. If you are near Wisconsin, I'd suggest the Madison shows. They've always been magic.

This song is about how people run the rat race- “how’s that bricklaying comin, are your hands getting filled?” -when there are “stars up above”- meaning there is so much more than that. And people running the rat race tend to look at us artists rebels and pirates as if we aren’t doing it “right”.. but we know they just don’t understand so “don’t you worry about me” ... I am lost in my mind... and the stars... and the music... the real magic of the world and what life is really about. I effing love this song!!!

Music like this song, Mumford & Sons & Cage The Elephant really saved me. I still think about that girl almost on a daily basis and I’m still alive. This song is beautiful.

I sent this song to my younger brother back in 2013 about two weeks before he decided to commit suicide , I miss him everyday . He was my best friend and it destroyed me , to think he of anyone could of been so down that he would of done such a thing . My youngest son passed in 2017. I had never heard the song before then. In the weeks after his funeral it came on everytime I got in the car. I always think of it as a message from him to his brothers. It's weirdly comforting coming here and seeing so many comments echo the sentiment.

This reminds me of my first trip to Boulder, CO in March of 2010 when we were driving down Apraphoe Ave. at night looking for our motel with the snow falling down. I had found my second home there, and soon in July, it will be my new home. :) I am looking froward to the new memories and listening to this song as I settle in.
