High thread count organic cotton, always plain white and ironed after every non bio wash. My bedding folded back and aired every day and the bedroom window opened until I am washed and dressed and then always carefully made and room tidied. Gentle music played and genuine words of gratitude spoken out loud to lift any dulled atmosphere. My bedroom is my sanctuary.

I have never met anyone whose great grandmother who was a plate painter. I think that is so cool. I worked in an antique store for 10 years and have been a lover of old things for a long time. I appreciate your walk with the Lord and the grateful heart you have chosen!

In my Life Group, I am the oldest of six ladies. In fact, I’m old enough to be their mom. 😉 I shared with them last night that service to the Kingdom of God begins in the home. We mistakenly believe that we are missing out if we aren’t impacting our community or holding a role of some sort at church. The truth is we aren’t missing out because we impact both community and our local church by serving in our home first. Our home is the learning and proving foundation of service that is seasoned with love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, and patience. We then take what we are learning/have learned in our homes into the bigger parts of our world. I really like your point about having bad days as well. Our “best” service in our home will look different from day-to-day, and that’s okay to acknowledge and share with those we share a home with. On a side note, 70-80% of everything in my home belonged to either my parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents. All of them have passed on, but having my home filled with their treasures brings comfort to my heart. ❤

Dear Lea, I would like to take a moment while I’m preparing to go to work to thank you. Thank you very much, thank you so much, for your always sweet, calming, soothing contents. Because of them, I remember that I can love my God-given life even in the midst of challenging seasons. My mom passed away last October and it has been a very painful season to say the least. We were very close. Being single without children, living on my own in Canada while my family is on the other side of the earth is the most challenging experience I have ever lived. But everytime I come here, I find relief, I find peace, and I find hope, so thank you. May God bless you and keep you (and your loved ones).❤

I wish RU-vid didn't only give you a thumbs up or down "button" to click. For almost all of your videos, I'd love to have a "heart" button! (Especially this one!). I so agree with the quote you read and your discussion about homemaking. It reminded me of an incident some years ago when a friend came to my house to work on a church project. A few days later at church she was talking to a small group of people and didn't realize I was behind her but within earshot. She was saying what a bad day she'd been having on Monday and how frazzled she felt but when she walked into my house it was like all that just melted away almost instantly. (She had not said anything about her bad day to me so I was unaware of it.) I have always been mindful of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in my home (notice, I said "mindful"...that doesn't always mean I achieve it! 🙃) but have been especially so since that overheard conversation as I realize the healing effect it can have on the world...even if it''s just one frazzled person at a time! Thank you SO MUCH for your videos! I often visit your home as I love the calm atmosphere and find peace there on those occasional days when I feel "frazzled"! ❤

I agree on a made bed. I think the one room, if I had to pick one, that has to look presentable would be my kitchen. That's the room people see first. We have a tiny home here in Michigan. We call it our cabin because it's small. We decorated it in rustic primitive. An idea I've learned from a Swedish lady was that they air our their bed comforters every day outside even in the middle of winter. The sun is a natural disinfectant too 😊

I love that you are celebrating the Passover feast. I pray so hard for fellow Christians, lover's, believers in YAHUSHA Ha'Massiach (Christ the LORD) to know and understand how incredible the Passover feast is. When you spoke on being a woman and what that means for our homes....I love being a woman, a wife, and a mama. My husband especially appreciates and loves that I care for our home (the best I can with an almost 13 month old)😅💝. He unfortunately didn't have the type of mother that kept the house. He had to live in a hoarding situation...This is why I try my best to keep our house.🥰

I loved your vlog, and it especially spoke to my heart! Thank-you for this! Recently, I've discovered that fabric, like everything else, has frequency. We are electric beings and every cell in our body is a battery. Whether we realize it or not, the vibrational frequency of fabric impacts us through touch. This can change our energetic and functional state. The human body's signature frequency is 100. Linen is a super fabric which sends positive vibration to heal and maintain health. Linen, made from flax - 5000 mHz. Sleeping in linen helps a person fall asleep faster and deeper, improves mood, brings rapid healing from surgeries and healing, which is why hospitals have used linen sheets in the past. Linen is resistant to fungus and bacteria, is a barrier to some diseases, and regulates body temperature - warm when cold, cools when warm. Maybe this is why the Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 22 tells us "Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together" and Leviticus 19:19 "Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.” Perhaps the frequencies cancel each other out. Thoughts? Anyway, I ordered a queen sheet set, and I'm thankful for the link that you shared. I had no idea where to find linen sheets and live in an isolated B.C. town.

Oh, my! Those plates that your great-great grandmother painted are just beautiful! I love using the antiques that I have collected over the years. Some of the things I now own were stored away for decades by previous owners and it brings me joy to put them back to use! I love wondering about what the people were like that had the things before me. My little kitchen table always has me curious as to who all sat in the chairs in the past and what the conversations were like when people gathered around to enjoy a meal or have a cup of coffee or tea and chat. ☺

Thank you for another thoughtful offering Lea, watching your videos is so soothing and calming. Home, the feeling of home, of returning home to your own sanctuary is such a special thing, as you say women are so often gatekeepers to that. The value of a feeling of calm, safety, love and nourishment within a home seems to be a vanishing concept with more focus put on how it looks and the latest tech. As someone who has spent the last 26 years as a homemaker, wife and mother and working part time from home so that I am always here keeping that space for my family it feels like a privilege but a very undervalued one within society. Skills that should be taught in school to both girls and boys, because if they haven't experienced it at home, in adulthood they may well continue in a way they've seen their parents model home life, chaotic and disordered. If more people could live this way the world outside could be a much kinder place. I don't think it has to be exclusively female, although I do think women have the advantage on this, but I have a single male friend who raised his child alone from the age of 18 months when the mother left for another man; his child is now an adult and such a credit to him, whenever I visit his home it feels like a calm and welcoming space, he is a great cook too. I'm lucky to have friends whose homes are such all embracing places to visit, spaces filled with love, just like their hearts.

I just missed the premiere, but that is okay. I was busy doing things and sat down for a few minutes. I love that you are washing all the things. This is where I wish I had a washing machine and an outdoor line to dry them on. The smell of clean sheets, curtains, etc, is really nice. I wish I were an OG here. It's been nearly two years though already. I love linen too. Everyone has Brooklinen ads and it is nice. One day I hope I can go linen. I don't have the ability to wash my sheets as often as I wish I could, so they get dirty quickly from our oils (we are oily people). I usually use cotton, but my oldest brother keeps telling me to go linen to help with our oils issue. I loved seeing the picture of your Great-grandma Nancy Jane (by those dates I'd think great-great). What was her ethnicity? I love the photo of her. She was lovely. It is really cool that her hand-painted plates/china set is in such good condition like that. My great-grandma died on my 7th birthday when she was 90 and she passed on Jesus to the family and was quite poor after having 8 kids in a tiny house (wish the house was not torn down about a decade ago).

I was just looking up linen sheets this morning, right before watching this video! I noticed my sheets developed a rip when I was taking them off the bed this morning, and I've been wanting to upgrade to linen for a long time now. I still don't think I can afford the Brooklinen sheets, even with the discount 🫤

A made bed changes the entire atmosphere! I love the idea of an heirloom home. One of my favorite pieces of furniture is my husband’s grandmothers vintage stereo/record player that’s designed like a wooden dresser and the top opens up to reveal it. 😄

I prefer silk sheets. They don't dry out my wavy hair or rip my hair out. I like to cocoon myself completely underneath the covers. On days I don't shower the first thing I do is brush my teeth, oil skin my face, apply an oil or cream (have dry, acne prone skin), and fix my bed head. Then I fix the bed. I prefer a firm mattress and flat pillow. My body is closer to the old fashioned Rubenesque than the modern angular (think my bust is larger, my hips are narrower, and my butt is smaller). My proportionally too large bust makes my neck sensitive. Fluffy pillows and high neck lines choke me. Only the front part is sensitive. Can be higher in the back. Yes, homemaking is honoring God and love for your family.

I absolutely love my flannel sheets. I actually hate to see spring/summer come and I have to take them off 😢 Linen is another favorite. Recently I have purchased several blouses at my work that are linen. Other than the need to iron due to wrinkles, I love them.
