Good one! But please, next time make sure your voice will be a little bit more louder than background sound... And just for small info aside from main theme - second WW2 nation with largest number of semiauto rifles is... USSR. 1.6 millions SVTs where built. P.S. Looks like you love MOH soundtrack!
Initially, the Red Army wanted to replace their Mosin-Nagant from the front lines with semi-auto rifles. However, the cost and some unreliability issues with those rifles meant that the Red Army could not implement them fully by the time of Operation Barbarossa (the purges certainly didn't help). So the old Mosin Nagants stuck around til the end of the war. Even though the USSR didn't fully replace their bolt action rifles until WW2 ended, it was still a shock to the Germans with how prolific semi-automatics were in the Red Army. Prior to their invasion of Russia, the Wehermacht did not seriously consider looking into semi-automatics (albeit unsuccessful prototypes).
At some point, absolutely. I'm still waiting for the Pacific Theater Battlefield V to come out which hopefully will feature the Arisaka, though DICE has been dropping the ball a lot lately so we'll have to see. If DICE hadn't announced the Arisaka in BFV by 2020 though I'm probably going to make a general Arisaka in video games vs. real life video featuring several games. I'll let you know when I decide to make it, but it'll be a few months at least.
"The overwhelming majority of bullets don't ever hit another human" And this is probably the big reason (at least I think so) why rifles and their cartridges were downsized. Why would you carry and fire something as big as a .30-06, .308, British .303 etc when you aren't dropping a moose, and instead a shooting a human. While larger rounds do have their place, smaller intermediate cartridges allow for the soldier to perform better much like you have been explaining for the M1 up to this point and what it brought to the battlefield. It allowed better suppression along with the BAR, giving greater rate of fire for the whole squad/section, and by extent the whole platoon. The M1 for it's time was a great rifle, simply because of the advantages it gives. I think it's only real downside was that it and its' ammo was heavy; which you would carry lots of since suppressive fire is most of what you'd be doing. Having a lighter rifle and round allow you to perform better with the rifle, and carry more ammo for both the individual and the machine gunners. Edit: It wasn't until I let the video play another few seconds did you basically make the same point but without bringing up reduction of rifle sizes, so yeah...
Yeah the M1 should have been in .276 Pederson like they almost went for. .30-06 is just too big of a round to comfortably shoot from a shoulder rifle constantly. But overall the M1 was an excellent semi-auto and one of the only at the time that was actually pretty reliable. A hulking bastard of a rifle but I get why it's so well-loved. If I were in WWII this is the gun I'd pick (unless I had access to an FG-42 or something crazy like that). Would certainly rather have an M1 than pretty much any bolt-action if my life depended on it.
If hell let loose is available for Xbox I will totally get it since that is the game I been looking for since battlefield 5 didn’t really make the game feel like ww2. The war in the pacific does give me that ww2 feel but both sides are using the same weapons and not using the weapon of their own faction.
Sadly the developers have no intention to bring HLL to console from what I hear. I agree, the weird weapons system in BFV is annoying and unrealistic. There's no reason an American soldier in the Solomon Islands would have an StG-44 and it does take away from the game. If you have a decent PC, you might be able to run this game.
Yeah the last mainstream "realistic" WWII game was Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, back in 2008. The PC has more of them, but I still prefer playing on console when I can.
Thanks man! Sadly no, not yet, but it’s on the list. Someday I might make a video for BF1 with the M1903 though. I also have another video in the works for the K31. Hopefully it’ll be done by next week.
Honestly, I feel as if the weapons have even more weight now than this video portrayed. They feel properly meaty and the reloads on all guns are very well done. I'm glad it's experiencing constant improvement in its life cycle.
Yeah it definitely is, though it's still better than most other WWII games. The one in Battlefield V has a MASSIVE ghost ring (great gun in-game, though).
It looks like a nice competitor but I think they need to work more on their map designs. It's very noticeable specially with interior designs, as it looks a bit empty and blocky, reminds me of Counterstrike.
