So... this is after MK's redemption...
Anyway, Macaque was controlled by the god of Chaos, Hundun. He managed to capture MK and his friends as they arrived at the hospital Sandy was in.
Macaque was going to finish Sandy because in his mindset, Sandy was never coming back... plus Hundun didn't want Macaque to have anything holding him back.
Xiangliu and Bai He (filtered LBD) managed to find them and tried to stop Macaque, but he used his powers on them.
Just before Macaque could do anything, a huge wave hits everyone. Freeing them... but Bai He was the first to realize... Someone was protecting Sandy's soul, his body.
Note: Macaque's villain arc is technically gonna be an redemption arc for Xiangliu if we are being honest 😅
