While I grew up with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man, I've enjoyed every iteration for what they offer. However, none has stolen the spotlight quite like Miles Morales, who I feel is a worthy successor to the web-slinging throne. What do you think? Who's your favorite Spider-Man? Let me know in the comments below!
I’m unfamiliar with Patreon but would love to support your channel. What are “creations”? Example $50 is 11 creations. As an actor and writer I want to make sure I’m understanding things fully and would be extremely happy to pay you for an hour phone call. You’re an amazing teacher and the only place I know to find a few simple answers. My questions simply involve understanding the shadow and the mentor roles better. I try to dissect other films myself and feel as though I don’t fully understand the roles. Odd examples... Mean Girls. Is Rachel’s character the shadow? Can the antagonist be the shadow? In Die Hard is the cop on the walkie the shadow or the mentor? I’d love to pay you for your time so I can get this straight in my mind. I’m writing a film about the Seminole Wars and want to give it my best. The Seminoles are the only tribe to never sign a treaty and be sovereign, the war left them down to 300 hiding in the swamp, now the tribe is worth billions because they never surrendered during the Seminole Wars... which was also the largest slave rebellion in American history, Regardless, thanks for the amazing content!
Hi Mark. Thanks for your interest in supporting my work! Patreon is a great crowdfunding site that lets you choose how much you'd like to contribute *per creation*. This means that whatever tier you contribute at ($1, $5, etc) that's how much you will be charged every time I release a video. Patreon lets you set monthly limits, so if I decide to go crazy and release a dozen videos a month, you only get charged up to the limit you set. :) All of my Patreon reward tiers give you access to a community that would be the perfect spot to explore questions like the ones you asked. I'm on there almost every day discussing current events, latest releases, and industry trends. It's a pretty cool place where you can chat with artists who make frequent contributions to Off Screen, people actively working in the game and film industries, and other professionals I've connected with over the years! It's constantly evolving, and I'm always open to new ideas. In the meantime, I can highly recommend the following books: 1) The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell 2) King, Warrior, Magician, Lover by Robert Moore & Douglas Gillette Both are easy to read and may help with learning how to identify different Jungian archetypes. There are a lot of fantastic content creators exploring the Shadow as well. I'm sure a RU-vid search will get you some good results, but here's one that may start you down the right path: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SFXAeCsRCpE.html Cheers!
I'm frustrated that this video doesn't have millions of views. I got more immersed and emotional watching it than the movie itself.. I just recently watched this movie for a college assignment and your video helped me a great deal. Thank you.
Very rarely movies I watch get to invoke so many emotions but this one was different when the og spiderman died even tho I knew he had to die in order for miles to take his place it really saddened me close to tears. Seeing your favourite character die so that a new one had to be formed really pains you emotionally. The second very favourite moment was the leap of faith. That very moment was literally a life and death situation coz in order for miles to know if hes ready he had to be willing to risk his life for something that he believed in and that truly was one of the best scenes I have ever seen in a spiderman movie. Not only the way it was portrayed but how it looked overall. Hands down one of the best spiderman origin story movies.
The shadow is who we become if we choose to act on and believe in the worst parts of our selves. Been struggling trying to understand what the shadow means and how to integrate it. Beautifully put. Thank you 🙏
SO glad to hear this. :) I hope your class enjoyed. If your instructor would like to reach out, they can get in touch with me at: offscreenconnect@gmail.com
Don't know why but I just looked up to see if they had a Hero's Journey of this movie and sure enough found your video. I've seen this movie plenty of times and this is the only movie I've seen where I can break this down and understand. Thanks so much, will watch again because it's sooo helpful. Your interpretation rocks!!!!
Cool. I haven't seen the hero's journey in Spider-verse explained in such detail and clarity before. Hope to see more from you! Small criticism: the flashes of Star Wars were distracting while adding little imo.
Thank you for your feedback! Because of the "glitch" effect in Spider-verse, it was the only film I felt I could get away with such edits to tie back into my Star Wars analysis video and demonstrate that all Hero's Journeys are ultimately the same. There's plenty more content and Hero's Journey breakdowns coming in the future! With less jarring edits. 😉
I'd like to comment on this and put my two cents in: please do not stop with the creative edits. I actually found it pretty dang neat. I did not feel distracted by it and I'm sure there are others that will agree. Great job on this video BTW.
Hey its santo, this video is amazing. The details you put into your script gave me chills and reminded me of watching this movie. It reminded me how great the movie is in general.
In to the spider-verse is what Batwoman failed to be, in terms of the structure of the heroes journey and introducing a new hero being passed the torch
Ca you answer this question for me it’s fir my homework Summarize Miles' hero journey so far. Be sure to name his mentors and how they help him through the journey
Loved the work. One of the best that I've seen.. certainly learned a lot. If you could add the hero's journey pointers/coded to the timeline in the description, that would be great for study material. Great 👍 work
You know, I was thinking about this movie a lot ever since I watched Spider-Man - No way home. While I like that new movie, I do not love it the way I love 'Into the spiderverse'. I think you pinpointed the reason for this, at least for me. The moment Peter gains his mentors during 'No way home' comes far too late into the narrative and is played more as a fan-service reveal more than a turning point. This is shown by the contrast in 'Into the spiderverse' - Miles has time to learn from his mentors, learn about their values, acknowledge them as his teachers - there is a genuine bond between them. When they say they understand his pain after uncle Arron dies, you feel his words do mean something to him, because he respects and admires these other spider-people. By contrast, in 'No Way Home', we actually start from other Spideys expressing sympathy to him, and only AFTER that he has time to learn about them. The scene when the express sympathy works only if you know these guys from the other movies and has fond memories of them. I do not think I like that. Still, that only confirms, that 'Into the spiderverse' is a really thought-out movie.
Amazing Video! The in-depth knowledge and insight are so great! You actually helped inspire me to make my own video on the subject during this quarantine period! Looking forward to more! (I also do not envy how many times you also probably got blocked for trying to upload this video)
There was a dispute process but Sony was pretty gracious once they understood this was educational content. I love hearing that this inspired you to make your own work! Keep it up!
@@OffScreen Since it was a first try I tried to remedy the problem but kept being met with blocks but now I’ve heard more and more say to dispute the claim and explain the educational/review side of the videos I will definitely do so on the future. Love the content, looking forward to your next video!
Knowledge of how to have faith in oneself. "When will I know I'm Spider-Man?" In other words: "When will I know I've made it?" "You won't, it's a leap of faith." Miles becomes a force of healing for his community (his mentors) by demonstrating how they can have faith in themselves.
