Our review of THE HEXOLOGISTS by Josiah Bancroft as well as the free short story "The Small Hands of Chokedamp"! Listen to us discuss how refreshing it is to see a married couple who are in love as well as how Bancroft takes on the fantasy mystery genre, exploring the class struggle and the responsibility of those who govern.

The fact that the characters are already in an established happy marriage, has made me bump it up my tbr. The music and overlay for the sexy times was hilarious Allen😂

This book was fantastic. Was a have-to-start-on-release-day book for me and it did not disappoint, even exceeding my high expectations. I especially loved the happy, healthy, and quirky marriage, as well as the biting social commentary. Bancroft has become one of my very favorite writers and he deserves a much, much larger audience.

After a grueling 15 hour work day I didn’t think it was possible to laugh. Like I woulda noticed that? If I did I woulda assumed my TV was dying & be thrilled when it wasn’t. Thank you so much. Allen, I get mental issues and barriers but Know many of us love you and enjoy what you do. It means something to us when we spend time with your videos. Do what you have to to take care of yourself but know we miss you when youre not here and hope you feel better.

I love how Allen stares directly into the camera almost the entire time Christina is speaking. It's mildly ominous. I'm glad you pushed through the gelatinous cube, Allen.

Great timing--I was planning on starting this tomorrow! Fantasy mysteries are such an under-utilised genre, I fell so hard in love with Empire of Exiles and have been itching for something like it ever since. This sounds so quirky and fun, and Bancroft's prose has always intrigued me. Can't wait to start!!

The Vorkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold has a happily married couple (as far as I know), but that trope is too rare!

I’ve read Small Hands of the Chokedamp! I really enjoy his writing style and had to look up a few words (rare for me, my coworkers think I make words up😂). It was my first experience with Bancroft and really enjoyed it! I do however felt like I was left hanging at the end, well more appropriately wanting. Wanting more. Can’t wait to start the Hexoligists.

I loved this book, but this authors writing style is different for me. His use of vocabulary and obscure words was annoying. The character work was great. 4 stars ⭐
