CP3 is a way better fit than other small point guards like Trae Young. 1.) cause CP3 is not only willing to but excels at making younger players better 2.) he isn’t Trae Young
Thank you😂 I was even saying that Vic should bring any old PG out of retirement cause that’s all it would take in the grand scheme of things, his USG rate is gonna be insane next season
He'll probably play 20 minutes a game, but he'll be "yelling" at guys for 48 min. Dude takes the game seriously. Will be good for the Spurs to get an overbearing guy making sure they do the little details.
This is my favorite signing of the entire off season. Wemby might just average 30 because of old ass CP3. One of my favorite older guys in the league, and my favorite young guy.
@@Tarquin2718 I’ve been a Spurs fan since 1986 when we were nobody, then drafted David Robinson and became somebody over night. Spurs for Life.. even when we sucked those last five years, even when we weren’t winning. Die hard or not at all for me!
plus i think cp3 biggest weakness right now is defense, cause he's old. but with Sochan, Wemby, Castle, and even Vassel they have enough player to hide cp3 weakness. it's just perfect all around lmaoo
This is like OKC bringing in CP3 for a year to show SGA how to play point guard properly and grind out wins to make the playoffs - it’s a great move that might not pay out fully for a few years, but it’s what they need
CP3 will be the Spurs' coach inside the court... even if they don't get into playoffs or play in, the experience he'll bring is surely a significant part of their young team's build-up. Pop should start adopting a system similar to Phil J's triangle offence, Wemby will be perfect for that and CP3 is a right guy to facilitate the training while on play.
I'm bandwagoning SO hard on the spurs this season. Not only are the spurs one of my favorite franchises of all time with some of my favorite players like Duncan, Manu, Kawhi and Wemby, now they have my second favorite point guard of all time too
CP3 pairing with wemby is absolutely really amazing because, he can learn lots of youngesters and plus at almost 40 years old CP3 is still a great mentor to alot of youngsters by the time where he could hang his jersey to the rafters he would be the greatest basketball player of all time he is even the last player of the 2005 draft.
Idk about CP3 being able to stay on the court, but nonetheless this is good for the Spurs simply because having him around would provide veteran leadership and guidance for the guards. Excellent move, but I don't think this takes them over the top just yet. Reality is that they need somebody better than 39 year old CP3, so their hunt for a high IQ pass-first pg who can also space the floor is still on-going. Spurs are still missing a pf who can guard 1-4 like AG. Once they get that, then the Spurs can be looked at as contenders.
This is super key. It has been noted often, that CP3 with your young players or bench is a leader and mentor. He is a floor general and coach. He was a player union president, great in press, extremely competitive. What were the Spurs missing last year? Vets. Now you have one of the quintessential ones on the floor with your VERY young team and on the bench. I think for CP3...in the latter area of his career, he is now at a premier organization. He saw firsthand Steve Kerr who benefitted it. He didn't get a ring as a player but I'm willing to bet if Chris heads into coaching, he WILL get a ring. Being part of the Spurs family as a coach, almost guarantees you a future coaching job. Great move on everyone's part.
cp3 said he isnt pursuing coaching after his career since coaches gotta travel a lot with their team. pretty sure hes just gonna spent that 300m he earned throughout his career with his family
An often forgotten fact is CP3 and Tim have the Wake Forest connection and have been friends for a very long time as well. He’s always respected the franchise. He’s gonna fit like water in a container, he will fill so many voids.
They had a point guard last year. they sat him for they could tank again. Then they started him towards the end of the year once the standings were kind of settled.
The real hidden genius is they brought in a veteran guard (one of the best)to train and mentor the young guards that they just drafted, and have been developing for a while.
You can never go wrong with a good pass first point guard and an athletic big. Steve Nash and Amare. Jason Kidd and dirk. Hell even Chauncey and Rasheed
That was a truly impressive highlight reel. If Chris Paul can make those kinds of spectacular passes to the Dub scrubs last year, OMG it's gonna be lights out for Wemby, Vassel and Sochan who are all quite young and improving. If they can add one tall shut down free agent defender, they could go deep into the playoffs. CP, Tre and Castle could become platoon sprinters. Keep putting in new faces in throughout the game so that the defenders are unable to settle in or catch their breath.
Sup is building a legendary system. The players did not know how to throw the ball to the wemby. He was staying too long. Therefore, when CP3 grows the core, the situation ends. It is one of the best investments ever. SUP continues systematically for the future.
A like the idea of him teaching the guys more than him running the ofense. We tend to forget that Pop did that "Sochan Pg experimen"t on pourpuse too give him more movility and at the same time taking the opprtunty to play Vic as a 4. Pop loves traditional pg. Thats why i think there going to play tre more this year and i hope that cp3 could share his experience with him.
Nah, Pop just wants CP to teach his youngbloods like he did Shae in OKC. Not sure if CP has the patience to be a head coach but he'd be the best player development coach in history. Or maybe not, if he needs to be on the court to do it.
I am so glad the Spurs got CP3, it ends the Trae Young rumors, pairs an extremely high IQ veteran player who will help the team shine. If the Spurs add someone like Lauri Markkanen this off season.. wow.. If Castle develops into a true PG next season.. double wow.
Might be twice the age of Trae Young, but you can't deny that's one teammate that will pass Wemby the ball. Im fine with that. Let alone how much IQ he has for the game and bringing that to a young Spurs roster with a lot of these kids getting a lot of playing time. Whether he starts, is the 6th man, or comes off the bench, CP3 makes a big impact in San Antonio. We could be contending for play in tournament with our starters, role players, draft picks, veteran and leader all staying healthy. Go Spurs Go!! 🥳
The hidden genius is definitely the development of Stephon Castle. Kid gets drafted as a guard to play with Wemby and then all of a sudden gets CP3 to learn from on Day 1?! Absolutely insane move by the Spurs. Maybe even more hidden is that now Sochan will truly get to develop in the role he fits best instead of having any ball handling responsibilities whatsoever.
CP3 with Wemby is scary... and him mentoring Juan Nuñez even more, arguably the best pnR guard in this year's draft and a well underrated pick from the Spurs. He'll learn and take that PG pairing with Wemby over soon... As an OKC Fan I am happy atm, but if there's 1 team I am scared of, it is the future Spurs'. I am sure that such a well run organisation won't fumble the talent of Wemby...
Its like cp3 in thunder but much better situation with wemby all lobs and 20 plus assist is so easy on him hehehe cp3 with wemby lob city 2.0 in spurs HAHAHAHAHA
Chris Paul will surely help the Spurs getting mature. Also he is a real good fit to the team. But still, I think there is something missing at the Spurs. Don't know what, but maybe there are too many young players. You can help developing one ore two teammates, but so much young players? We will see. I am a little bit excited.
I just wish the Spurs Organization see this window not for wemby but for the guards. Where instead of using CP3 give Wemby highlight passes but use CP3 as a mentor for all their young guards and have them absorb as much skills from him. This might actually turn out good for the long term.
This video reminded me why I can't stand Sochan. But alot of these guys missed him constantly too. But CP3 will work wonders on teaching and leadership especially for Wemby & Castle. GSG!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
This move wasn't to be competitive. It was to help obtain a veteran who could help develop the young guys and help them grow from a current player who knows the game best. A coach is one thing....but someone who is on the court with you helping you out and helping you learn the game and develop a better on court IQ so that way you can tidy up your game and make it more professional. That's honestly exactly what they need to help their young guys grow, which was the point of this acquisition imo. If they are competitive, that's a plus ....but I promise you that was not the point of the move lol.
Great video, but I believe that CP3 won’t be as much in the midrange this season as this can impede Wemby’s realstatete around the rim. He can use more floaters though, as he should be moving from the perimeter more
I was hoping spurs to get a young pg to grow up together but seems like cp is a good choice now..and really hope he trains a young pg to help wemby grow
Great pick up. But I think the spurs have the players to do what OKC has done. They just need time. Everyone what’s to win right away. But if we look that really hasn’t happen since bills Celtics, magic rookie year or the big three is Boston. Just let these young boys work
CP3 (6'1) 37% from 3 Stephon Castle (6'6) 27% from 3 Devin Vassell (6'7) 37% from 3 Jeremy Sochan (6'8) 31% from 3 Wemby (7'4) 33% from 3 not a lot of outside shooting and pure scoring, but definitely a fuck ton of playmaking and player movement, as well as a MASSIVE amount of defensive talent. The Spurs might just be a dark horse for the playoffs..
They need to take a chance on Lonzo Ball! He doesn’t need to score the rock and can still be an elite passer while he gets back into his NBA groove. Hes been out a while….but a “dimer” is a “dimer”.
HYPE. been pushing this one for ages man I'm so excited for them. Trae was not the move and neither was Darius Garland. I really think for PG's they could potentially wait until Tyrese wants a super max next season you think im joking but the truth is this Embiid Maxey Paul George thing will be same old same old they will succeed in the regular season and fail in the playoffs and Tyrese will want out to get a supermax while PG and Embiid are stuck together trying to get to the 2nd round. Coby White would've been insane to poach or maybe even go for D'Fox because aint no way Malik Monk is the answer and that team is also gonna blow up soon.
