When I was younger my mother bought this movie, because she thought it was a kid movie, she didn't watch it with me and my siblings though, I watched it with my aunties and it's been our inside joke ever since that day, my mother never knew
In interviews, Matt Stone and Trey Parker outright said that the entire movie was an indictment of Hollywood. They weren't specifically criticizing U.S. foreign policy so much as they were lampooning how movies get made in Hollywood. The movie industry is quite happy to make these ultra patriotic movies and profit from them while simultaneously complaining about the government and the popular support they had. Well maybe if they didn't make being patriotic seem so hip with their movies they wouldn't have this problem. Matt and Trey have long made no secret how much disdain they have for actors. They are self important, overpaid, figurative puppets that make far too much money for contributing to society less than the average fast food worker. They are dancing, trained monkeys that we worship. That is why they are being portrayed in the movie as literal puppets. Furthermore, throughout the movie it is repeatedly stated that the team cannot function without an actor. Gary the actor is the only way the team is effective. This belief is never questioned but just simply taken as truth. Matt and Trey were revealing that the entire movie and all the players were giving in to the false self importance of actors.
The main theme of "Team America" is the brutal fun they poke at American movies in general. It's all there - the team thing, the trust thing, the he-loves-her-but-she's-not-ready thing, the random piece of information in the middle of the movie that saves the day at the end of the movie thing... It's all there.... Absolutely brilliant movie.
I love that you're even handed when you poke fun at both sides of the aisle. Ideological neutrality is practically impossible to get right, but the little efforts don't go without notice. I appreciate you Wisecrack.
I give you an A for effort. You didn't do particularly well but this one HAD to be hard to satirize. How does one satirize the wildest satire ever produced?
Team America is still referenced at my work even today. The three types of people speech I used in a discussion just three days ago. Love the video. Also, please bring Thug Notes back to RU-vid. I won’t get Facebook
Belter society, Isolation in space, mars societies singular vision, living under domes how that could effect us. There are endless things to talk about.
blarg2429 My Mom does have a great deal of complexity and so might be an excellent topic of analysis, although as a topic she might prove too esoteric for most of the fans. Perhaps "The Hidden Meaning Behind 'Your Mom ' Jokes" might be fun.
OMG I knew I could find a wisecrack video on this movie, cuz u guys love south park and I love you for that lol. This movie is so epic and stupid ..... i will always love it.
Me before watching the video: "Garyx Wurmuloid can't possibly be as ridiculous as THIS movie" Me during the video: lmao! Me after watching the video: "welp..." I was trying to eat lunch Wisecrack...
All I got from this movie is that if you go to any country from Northwestern Africa to the Middle East the words "Duhrkeh duhrkeh" will get you everything.
