Yes, the Holy Spirit enables us pray in tongues in our minds if we ask Him. I'm glad you tried it out. Keep using it whenever it is necessary.

When you speak out the tongues loud, your mind naturally disconnects but if you shut your mouth and meditate on the syllables, you can pray in tongues quietly in your mind.

I have been praying in tongues consistently and have had your experience. However, I have also had d experience of new tongues, shifting and shakings while praying in tongues, heat and fire flow while praying in tongues, impressions and mental pics while praying in tongues, hearing and answers while praying in tongues, crying and loneliness while praying in tongues, peace, joy, reassurance. To conclude, I do pray in tongues silently too most days so it is possible. My subconscious mind keeps praying in tongues too even while I sleep. I awake some days with tongues on my lips. I pray in tongues and the understanding in English burst out of me most times. There are so many revelations, help, empowerment and illumination that comes with praying in tongues. Hopefully I have helped 🙏🙏🙏

What you are saying is truth @roberthill5353. It doesn't make sense to think of syllables because it is your spirit that prays, like Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:14, when you pray in tongues your mind is not active because you are not thinking of what to say.

Interesting! It seems like the grace to pray silently only comes when you are in an environment that requires you to pray silently. Otherwise, it is challenging.

You can make it easier for you to focus by reading/listening to the Bible while praying, sometimes I will listen to some instrumental music also

Personally, I usually have the same diversity of tongues whether I pray in my mind or aloud. It's interesting if you have more diverse tongues in your mind than when you speak them out loud.

The Holy Spirit is not limited. If a situation demands praying in tongues in your mind, the Holy Spirit will lead you to do it.

That’s the problem people always trying to limit God. He does what he wants and when he wants.
