They will win but not in way you exspect and either most or maybe even all of them will die allowing for new hero's later ( maybe a sequel series at some point) most of the villains also die but a very small handful survive setting us up for another series later maybe.

Yes they are. George RR Martin has a distaste for nihilism. His story isn't a destruction of the classic fantasy story, it's the deconstruction of it. It's still the classic fantasy story, but more realistic. This is why George sites JRR Tolkien as his main inspiration. So, yes, the good guys are going to win. It'll come at great sacrifice, but they will.

@@lehtokurppa7824 Oof, you do realize that the show is following George's story right. They had a long discussion at his house about what they're doing with the story. So I don't think it's that the writing has gotten bad, I can definitely understand with the dorne and some of the season 7 stuff, but maybe you're following the wrong story. The show has followed the books very well and the writing in season 7 was better than most tv shows and books. Also considering it's still being controlled by the same people that made the show good in the first place, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Anyone else that would've tried adapting game of thrones from book to TV without having the show go for 15 seasons would've failed miserably. Especially since they had to speed through season 7 to get where they want to be now in season 8. The show is taking a different route than the books, but they're going to the same place. George has said this countless times.

I wanted to add something to all of this theory : Jon is known as the " bridge ". He always was the bridge, each of his arcs are about that, being the bridge between two communities, two worlds, two families. So i think that theme will re-occur with Jon, and he will be the bridge between the humans and the others, maybe by becoming a mix of both (a white walker who's conscious of everything he does) or just fullfill whatever is the goal of the Others through peace and communion

I think putting Robb as grey is stretching it a bit. He messed up but he always had good intentions. He went to Walder Frey to apologize and tried his best to offer equal compensation.

Hemanth Swarna Robb messed up more than some people realized. He didn’t just fall in love with Talisa, he married her. There didn’t have to be a marriage, but there was. He also beheaded Rickard Karstark, which is the ONLY reason he thought it was a good idea to make an alliance with the Freys in he first place. The Karstarks made up more than half of Robb’s bannermen. He also didn’t kill Jaime Lannister when he had he chance (and got no sisters back), which is why Karstark betrayed him and killed the minor Lannister cousins. And after all of this he decided that the only option was to try and align with the Freys again, which was not a good idea. Yeah he was always likable, but Robb would be alive if he hadn’t made just one of those mistakes.

@@joeyralston3773 While all of that is true none of it makes Robb a gray character. All Robb did was make inexperienced mistakes based on some poor decisions, although he was wise to battle and understood war strategy he wasn't particularly adept at playing the Game of Thrones. However none of that qualifies him as a gray character a gray character is one who makes questionable moral decisions I.g Sandor Clegane, Jamie Lannister (although I still labeled him vile until maybe season 6, one does not simply push a child to his death and remain good of heart). I would argue Robb made some of the same mistakes that most young idealistic heroic characters make, yet is mostly non-fatal because their protected by invulnerable plot armor. Robb is as pure White Knight as Eddard Stark, John Snow, Luke Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi or any other typically heroic defender.

Dany's fate was foreshadowed in the season 2 finale at the House of the Undying. She gets close to the Iron Throne only to not take it. It is covered in snow. She goes beyond the wall to reunite with Khal Drogo and their son in death. She will make the ultimate sacrifice so others especially her new child with Jon Snow can live.

In a recent interview, Nikolaj ("Jamie") and Gwen ("Brienne") agreed that it has a "happy ending." That doesn't sound happy to me. I think that Jon will reject Dany through several episodes to throw off the viewers. This while Dany will be in a emotional crisis due to losing all she loves. However, in the end I think he will choose "love" over "duty" and hold his "son" in his "arms." See Maester Aemon foreshadow. Jorah also mentions to Jon that Longclaw should go to his "children." Lastly, Jon's effigy is that of an old man. Folks need to pay attention to the lines and signals!

@@xreon7636 I kind of doubt it. The white walkers are supposed to be an enemy of impending doom. GRRM even confirmed the parallels he was trying to make with our current lives and anthropogenic climate change. It seems unlikely the impending doom of death and the white walkers would be humanized with this example.

After all the curveballs GoT/ASoIaF has been throwing at us since the very beggining, I'm literally prepared for anything. For example, I wouldn't be surprised if what the Night King wants is to make Dany his wife and kills everyone and everything before managing to do so nor would I be surprised if no one elses dies in season 8 (wouldn't that be an actual curveball after countless deaths throughout the seasons?) and we get a fairy tail ending. By this point, I know anything can happen and I like to think I have prepared myself menally for any and all eventualities.

@@nowelbobke1506 no we didnt know that what are you talking about? night king doesnt exist in the books (yet.) In the show the night king is depicted as absolute evil which is how LOTR is written, a conflict between good and evil. GRRM does not write like that he gives every character a potential for good and evil, the characters are vastly complex and hard to understand, just like in real life people are complex, that is why GRRM would not make an absolute evil night king, it is more likely night king wont even exist in the books and the whitewalkers will be depicted as a force of nature like global warming, so no night king isnt supposed to be evil even if he seems evil in the show you need to see past his evil grin and consider him to be a natural force, like as if he was winter and the humans were the crops and trees and everything else that die in winter just to be reborn when spring comes.

Why haven't you done a Cersei video of Charisma on command.. She is one of the best characters on that show.. She never let's anyone get the upper hand in a conversation. She taught me how to cope with so much people trying to take jibes at me and i would calmly give them a very subtle reminder of themselves.. That is amazing that she gives so much power to those who carry a certain level of shame. She also deflects very tricky situations very easily either through manipulation, blame, sympthathy or hostility. Plz do a scene by scene dissection of Lena headeys masterful performance. Wish she got a better ending

I definitely agree. Though since the time he died I’ve felt like he’s been kept alive to do something and once that thing is done, he should leave the world. So in this way, I would prefer they both die. But others think Dany will get the throne and ditch it realising she belongs in the east/ as a conqueror.

All magically sustained life will be gone by the end of the story. That includes Jon Snow, Beric Dondarrion, Melisandre and Daenerys who shouldn't have survived the pyre. The Night King is another candidate. Sansa Stark will be left to rule and maybe Cersei, parallels to Queens Elizabeth I and Mary Tudor.

I think she is gonna die in child birth. Jon will survive, but he will be empty inside cause he will lose a lot of people he loves. I also think Arya might die, but that is still 50/50 for me. Jon will raise their child who is 100 percent gonna be a girl.

@@feliper.9557 That's why I think it's gonna happen. It's been a theme in the books and even on the show. Cersei hates Tyrion cause her mother died giving birth to him, the same with Tywin. You even have Viserys who held resentment for Dany cause their mother died in childbirth while having her. Hell, even Jon's mother died in childbirth. I can see it being Dany's fate. She has been put on this pedestal as a conqueror, liberator, the unburnt, mother of dragons, so imagine if her end is something so common in that time period. Dying of childbirth like any other woman. Many fans will be pissed that's for sure lol.

Cersei's prophecy cannot be stopped, Dany will become the queen of ashes although that was not her intention, Jon will be killed because the word got out. Arya will kill Sansa. Those are my bets.

I think he won't survive, why? He was brought back to life by the lord of light, because he had a purpose, so basically it was a god's action, without it he would be dead. In the series we saw that anyone who had this opportunity (like Beric) will die in the story, so we can all witness what was the big purpose all along. Maybe this is to help Dany take the thorne, or to bring a better future to Westeros somehow, who knows? But I'm sure he'll die in the process.

I agree that Martin killing off main characters does allow for the understanding that any character can die at any time. It's a very powerful technique. But if your takeaway is that important characters must die as if to adhere to some golden formula, then I strongly disagree. Of course, one or both of Jon and Dany could die. But to say that one of them must die is completely missing the point. The important part is that we don't know who will die, and no character has "plot armor". Anything can happen. Both of them can still live without cliche.

Daenerys will die for sure. She won't get the iron throne and she can't live without that. Jon, instead is another type of character because he doesn't wanna play the game. Chaos is a ladder and Sansa already prepared the ladder and she will climb that ladder. Idk, but Sansa has big plans and Varys and Tyrion are her puppets now

I think above all else the show has been unpredictable. Now everyone thinks that they have figured out the pattern of "main characters die" so the most unpredictable thing for GoT to do would be to not kill anyone. I think that's the only outcome I haven't seen anyone talk about although I still think its highly unlikely

Correction. It 'was' unpredictable. It became extremely predictable once they ran out of book content, and they inevitably reverted back to the same tired Hollywood pattern of appeasing the audience and making sure good triumphs over evil.

Watching emilia Clark at an awards show, Dan and dave presented it to her, and when they welcomed her to the stage by announcing her "the rightful Queen of the 7 kingdoms" this was after talking extremely nostalgically about their time on Got. Given that undertone, they've obviously romanticised her announcement because the truth is, she meets a less than happy end... Sorry to dissapoint.

Excellent video! In truth I knew it was all about Jon from episode 1 for exactly the reasons you stated. Still Neds death was a great shock but you’re right it left us on shaky ground. I too feel that the story will end with one or both (Jon or Dany ) dying. Losing Jon will break my heart and my gut tells me that is who will die. He is the one true hero.

This is how I see it… 1. Theon’s sister kills Euron in battle. 2. The Mountain kills Arya as she tries to kill Cersei. 3. The Hound kills the Mountain for killing Arya and everything else. 4. Jaime kills Cersei. 5. Cersei planned detonations go off through the Red Keep killing Jaime, the Hound and a boat load of people. 6. Dany goes batshit Drakaris and kills a shitload of people; Jon needs to stop her and kill her. How… don’t know yet. 7. Jon refuses the throne; goes back to the North and joins Ghost. 8. Tyrion will be voted into the iron throne with Sansa as Queen. 9. Bran will be the Last Stark in Winterfell.

John is technically an Undead . Do you Remember ,Thoros of Myr said They are on a borrowed time .So I think even if Danny Dies ,John will use the Kiss of Death and revive Danny and Die in her place , so that His baby will not become motherless just like he was . .John was never interested in the Iron throne nor the luxury of life .He always wanted to protect the people even if it meant death for him . He will leave his legacy (His and Danny's Place ) and die . This would be a Bitter sweet Ending . big fan of yours, love how you explain what personality traits, emotions, and other characteristics give people charisma. But have you thought about the reverse? Maybe make a video on someone who is doing all the wrong things that make others dislike them so much. Its a good body of knowledge to know the positives and the negative aspects of charisma. My suggestion would be either Katherine Heigl (from past interviews) or Brie Larson (from current interviews).

I agree. Dany is spoiled. Her entire line of achievements is from her fireproof super-power and her dragons. Take them away and she's nothing. Even the achievements without them are mainly done by the people around her. On the other hand, Jon has had to scrape his way to the top sacrificing everything to get their, even his life.

Daenerys had the most beautiful arc in the series, and the way she sought to bring justice to suffering people made her my favorite person. Of course she showed her gray side at times, but she was gentle and extremely strong at the same time. And her strength came mainly from in faith on herself because not everyone suffers what she suffered and manages to have an emotional and psychological structure to move on.

I agree 1000% that either Jon or Dany will survive, not both. It would not be a SOIAF story if they did. I also believe that Jon will be the one to perish cuz I never believed that George would save the hero of the story. He is there to make the final sacrifice.

I can't believe that Dany survives. Just can't imagine her taking the throne after all what has and will happen. I believe there will be drastical changes. Westeros will once again become the 7 kingdoms with not just one to rule them all (which Dany would do). Only Jon is capable of creating a world without a king. So my bet is on Jon. :)

It is my impression that the Hero's Journey applies to both Jon and Dany. Both has had mentors and helpers. Both has had to kill their inner child to grow up as powerful, commanding adults (admitted, Jon actually died and was resurrected), and both has returned to their origin to confront that which sent them on their journey. As king in the North, Jon could be said to have completed his journey. It is a good point with the title of the series, but when reading the series, I suspected that Dany was Fire and Jon was Ice, so it was a pointer to those two being the actual heroes of the series. Having written all that, I think you are right that at least one of them will die.

@@dianaprince5258 Yeah true, so anything is possible. *G.R.R.M told them the endings for some of the characters though, like Hodor for example. The books hadn't reached that part yet at that time, so George told Dan & Dave about Hodor's origin story and how he dies while saving Bran by holding the door, and we ended up seeing it play out on the show in season 6. He might've told them more characters' endings as well, so we really can't be sure...*

Joffrey was a much more complex character. It's just that most people are too stupid/simpleminded to look further than his psychopathic side. He's the first King to want a Standing army, loyal only to the throne, not lords. He's one of the few people to fear Dany and her Dragons. Everyone in Westeros just ignores her, other than the spider.

As my understanding of storytelling gets deeper and deeper I can't help but look at my life as a story. A great epic movie. If I don't design it a way that will force me out on a journey, with actions that need to happen, events that will expose my weaknesses, putting me in uncomfortable situations that in the end will force me to grow. To arch. I want an Oscar's for my life, not ending up a sad b-movie. I took up movie studies on the university ( and nerding down on movie analysis youtube channel ) but never did I thought that it would have such a great impact on how I holistically look at my life.
