“Don’t bring your natural hair to my event”
KokoByKhloe recently did an interview on the Bhad and Boujie podcast where she discouraged women from wearing their natural hair to events. She emphasised that natural hair should not be worn on a regular basis. This kind of message makes women feel as though their natural hair is not beautiful enough to fit society's beauty standards. It encourages women to hate themselves and to not feel worthy enough unless they can conform to society's standards of beauty.

Wow...self hatred is walking among us!! When you value yourself you don't allow anyone to devalue you 💯.

It was actually sad- I don’t really like to hear women talking about other women like that. We are all beautiful, whether with natural hair or wearing wigs.

Thank you for mentioning the racism within the Spanish community. They value white skin.

Yes girl. I experienced a lot of it growing up. Racism exists among our own people- not just from white people.

Great points- we must be encouraging each other in this day and age, not tearing each other down.

Can you imagine someone looking like that female makes a statement like that in 2023 it is very sad.

It was very sad to hear a woman talking like that. We need to be very careful about what and who we listen to in this day and age.

4:33 after black folks startrd rocking a lot of afros in the 60's and 70's white people started imitating that too with big hair /hairspray styles in the 80's

Exactly. How can we hate our natural features amongst ourselves? Different doesn’t mean ugly. Sometimes different is a good thing.

@@daisyhandfield1 I 💯% agree with you. During the early 70s ( I was a teenager/young adult) and I had a Beautiful Blonde Afro.

She made a statement about African women versus American women. She said American can wear their natural hair because it's more presentable than African hair. Cornrows are better for African hair. I found it a bit odd.

That entire interview was actually very alarming. It was sad to hear another black woman speak about herself in that way. It showed me that a lot of people say that they love themselves, but their actions say otherwise.

Horrific colonial mindset. Deforming yourself from the natural state to imitate other deviation when you are the original!!!!!

Hey sister, I loved this video. You made valid points and I hope more of us Black women are intentional about how we carry ourselves. And what we say to each other because everything that lady said was ignorant asf. We have little black girls looking up at us for guidance and wisdom. We need to be an example of what it means to love our selves, even in our natural state. Nothing that sister said was uplifting or empowering to me. It was very cringy to watch but I’m glad you pointed this lady out because nothing she said made sense.

Wigs often look unnatural as they seem to sit on top of the head. Personally, I prefer women with short or medium-length natural hair.

8:00 what you said after this point imahine what dark women hear constantly. Thisnis why that chick spoke like that. She felt shes protecting women darker than you from those same type of comments which are usually nastier than what you hear. Dont be a gaslighter with your video topic

Gaslighting? How exactly I’m I gaslighting anybody? No one has the right to tell anyone that natural hair is not beautiful. Everyone has their difference in opinion and as a black woman myself, I find it distasteful to make black women feel inferior because of the features that we inherited.
