Hey Gigabeef, one more important thing when discussing the economy of using car medkits - if you come back from a raid with a low durability one, you can recycle it to a CMS kit in Medstation. With current prices, that's an almost 14k of pure profit if you count the medkit as free.
This is an awesome tip, thank you. In response, I have one that while very much common sense based, I don’t run into many people doing, which is, if you use part of your medkit in raid, you can keep the leftover in your med case to heal with in case of your death, this can save you ~10 - 18K per death, as well as being able to fix injuries accumulated in raid (IE : blacked limb damage)
@@MilesK1308 it's cheaper to buy a grizzly for this and recycle the med kit. You should never use therapist for healing since the grizzly is cheaper plus you get xp from healing yourself
I feel like this video won’t age well once BSG fixes a lot of their animation issues (reloading after checking your mag, I’m looking at you), but the info regarding how heals work and what is most efficient is ridiculously useful. Another great video!
I agree, the video should clearly state that this is unintended behavior of the game and it will be patched out at some point. As it is, the video is presenting this as a valid, intended way to play which might confuse newer players down the line.
Most of the "How-To's" on Tarkov nowadays are situational/wipe-specific. Everything from Gun-builds to combat strategies change every time there's a wipe/patch. So while I completely understand what you're saying and getting at (2k+ hours atm), I don't think there's a need for every guide video on EFT to have that kind of disclaimer at this point. The game's already too volatile as it is.
Just the nature of Tarkov guide content - many old videos I have posted are no longer relevant, and if I get enough comments on them once they are out of date then I usually add a piece to the description & top comment to tell people which parts are no longer valid
@@jacobthatguy8001 With how realistic this game wants to be, it is pretty annoying that you can’t reload while checking your mag, so I’m just hoping they make that a possibility in the future. Think of it like interrupting the check mag animation with a reload animation.
I run Salewa & Calok. Nice thing about that is the Calok is such a quick use time I can stop a bleed, gather my senses for 2 seconds and see if I have time to use another med or if I'm going to have to re-engage. I do this, because it's generally cheap and highly available meds & it looks like based on the charts the effectiveness of the combo is backed up by stats.
Another interesting fact too is that the time between finishing the healing animation and being ready to heal another limb is based on the speed it takes to take out your primary weapon. This is also true if you only have a secondary, or a melee. Try it yourself. Go into an offline raid, take some damage, then dump all your weapons and heal, cancel, heal again. It is significantly faster with no weapons on your pmc
AH that probably is true actually, as this used to be how players could carpet bomb in 12.11 before the grenade changes were put in! You could throw at an insane speed with no primary hah
You could also bind 2 hotkey slots to lets say 6, push for slot 4 and release for 5, put a hemo on 4 and a bandage on 5 and you dont need to think about which bleed, or the hemo on 4 and selewa on 5 so you remove bleed first then press 6 again for just heal to save HP resource
This is what I do. It actually makes healing so much simpler. I no longer have to check what's what. I just always press 4 and it will either use a Hemo for a heavy bleed, or heal me with whatever medkit I have. If I need a painkiller of some kind I always bind those to 5. So my everyday healing and PKing are always 4 and 5 in every raid. Never have to think about it. Totally forgot you could reload your weapon in the menu while healing though, that's super useful.
I totally understand why people do all of this, it gives an big advantage in tricky situations after all. Tough personally i absolutly hate it, talking about in Raid mechanics, since Tarkov is supposed to be realistic while this is simply an unintended game mechanic. Same reason why i like Tarkov looting so much more where you have to stand still, compared to other games like in DayZ where you basically just strave around while grabing everything from a dead body. I dislike this even so much that i refuse to do anything like this in a raid, but i don't really mind it in hideout crafting. Still can't wait for it to be fixed eventually
First, the whole reload while healing thing is a great example of a unrealistic feature/bug that should be patched. Second, your meds setup seems great and is very similar to what I run. The difference is that I run the ifak hot-keyed but I’m now heavily considering using the CAR kit instead, and I run a CAT hot-keyed over a hemo figuring it will remove the heavy bleed fastest to keep my hp from draining. I always have a backup hemo for additional heavy bleeds but the speed of the CAT is awesome in a fight.
CAT and Hemo have the same stated time - I didn't check the actual animation time so far, but it's the Esmarch that is longer than either of them. CAT is quite expensive really for what it is, like nearly 3k for one bleed vs hemo about 4.5k for 3

Great video. Late game I always run grizz with a hemostat. Having to wait 5 seconds for heavy bleeds isn't doable - but the convenience of the grizzly combined with animation cancels makes it well worth it for me.
Very good Video. I usually use a grizzly for normal healing and a hemostat to quickly heal heavy bleeds in fights. If only because it's cheaper than two Salewas and heals heavy bleeds just as quickly. Yes, the Salewa also heals damage, but if you have more than one heavy bleed in a round, even two Salewas are not enough to heal all of this. In addition, you save the splint and always have enough heal for the round, no matter how much damage you suffer. If you want to save even more money, you don't heal yourself after a death with Therapist instead of this use the Grizzly and then take it into the raid. This saves around 14-15k after a kill for the Therapist Heal and reduces the grizzly to around 1300 dura which is more than enough for any raid. This means that the Grizzly is only slightly more expensive than the car kit if you use the barter and you dont need a splint or an afak in your container so you can put Items in there to get money even if you die. I also use the Umka Rig a lot. Simply because you can usually sell it to Ragman for a similar price as you buy it at the Flea. Mostly between 16 and 20k. And the Umka has more than enough room for magazines for most weapons.
Yeah I was thinking afterwards if you use the Grizzly for post raid healing (as you should!) and bring them at like 600-900 HP it's really cost effective. No need to run them in raid at 1800 really, bit overkill!
The CAR kit sounds useful also for avoiding dumping all your healing item durability into heavy bleeds. I'd run it if it weren't for the fact that I have a whole medcase with salewas that gotta get used somehow.
Yeah that is true - you can hotkey a hemo over the top of the Salewa so you don't use it by accident on a heavy though - check out the hotkeys vid I explain how to do it in there
Great share man! I remember doing stuff like this while I was in an SKS phase. I would switch to my melee and reload in the menu because it was faster than swapping SKS mags manually. Now I heal and swap magazines at the same time for all guns. It’s a great trick to know
Like you said I see people doing this all the time but nobody ever talks about it. My friend is the one who showed me and I've never heard anybody else mention it.
Grizzly cancel is super strong. Maybe griz in the secure container and AI2 in the pocket hotkeyed just for the emergencies when you can’t tab out… idk.
Imma bit late but as long as you heal your status effects, you can heal and repack mags. While ur putting ur grizzly away for the 2 and whatever seconds, u can pack mags, it cancels the animation perfectly half way through and the healing also cancels the packing. You can heal up to full and pack one 20 round mag full of m80s. Granted u cant move but its really good after a fight and a 3rd party is close.
I personally rock a grizzly and a cms in my secured container. If I come across some fat loot then I’ll move the cms then the grizzly but most of the time they stay put. Saves a ton of money down the road because your not constantly dying with meds and having to buy them all over again
it saves money for sure, but its not as fast having to open your inventory and clicking your grizzly in a tight situation, rather than just pressing "4"
I had a feeling the actual use time of medkits is not as described but this is far from what I expected. I also always thought the grizzly had the longest preparation and putting-away time. Something the bit on the flea reminded me is the whole flea fee deal. It looks as though a lot of people are actually making less money on the flea than they would from traders by selling at a price that is higher than trader price, but lower than trader price+flea fee.
Absolutely on the flea fee part. Especially with rounds etc that you sell in stacks of 120 it's annoying having to figure out the min/max point of profit with the non-linear flea fee equation!
@@Gigabeef Not to mention you could actually lose money if you sell something for too high a price, and I don't mean make less profit than you could, which actually happened with manuals at some point in the wipe.
Car first aid kits are actually a pretty good budget option, but if you can afford it, the grizzly is pretty much the best all around. Huge durability, heals anything other than a blacked limb, and fast use time if you cancel animations.
I think I might consider using the car more. I do get annoyed having to heal twice with the IFAK. Though I do get hurt a lot and that 80 more HP is probably best for me...
Sounds like u should use the afak instead. The ifak is horrible for it's low HP healing but nice that it only takes one slot that can fit into ur pockets if u go on a budget/pistol run. But since the afak came and u pretty much always gets them on raiders/rouges now and also uses less healing for light/heavy than both ifak and salewas i think they are superior. Tho if u have to buy them it can get quite "expensive"

I love using the Grizzly with the barter. My only complaint is not so much the Grizzly itself as much as it is how Tarkov prioritizes heals. It really came apparent to me while watching someone's stream the other week. They had a damaged thorax but it prioritized fixing a bleed and fracture on a blacked limb. Sometimes in a fight I just can't open my inventory and tell my heals where to go, I just gotta smash that hotkey. What I enjoy the most is that the Grizzly is cheap and it frees up a slot in my Gamma, so no need to carry a splint.
Yep its unfortunate, there's no way of fixing that with a hotkey unfortunately - I think Nikita has been asked about it previously and said he didn't want it to be so easy, so I think we just have to deal with it!
Well a splint is only around 10k on flea, so mid/lategame there's no need for keeping it in the gamma. Same with CMS/surv12. They are only around 20-45k so shouldn't take up space where u can have a sicc/docs case and ammo plus injector case
Idk if this has been mentioned before but Im fairly sure youre incorrect about the Grizzly heal cancel. You can heal a fracture with a cancelled animation as long as you cancel during the part where the pmc lowers the medkit for a moment
I like doing this but also when I'm in the inventory menu I like to heal animation cancel by throwing ammo into a mag. Nice to pack a mag while you heal all your zones.
On top of it... Having stims as a third backup works wonders. ETG, Propital and the one for bleeds can be a lifesave and don't take up much space in the pouch.
Stim pouch is easily the best 1 slot item in the game. I use stims so much more often now that I can take them in without risk of losing and can store a pharmacy in a single slot
This is making me look again at the car medkit I might just use them for the early wipe this time around I usually just move to crafting salewas and using them then move to the grizzly later when I can afford to lose them but I am in the keeping a grizzly in your secure kit especially early on when meds are more valuable I can carry one item and your good to go but you lose the ease of moving it out for items
I see a lot of comments saying "you should put disclaimer since unintended feature, etc". That kind of critique really applies to all guide/how-to vids on EFT in the current state of the game. Everything from Gun Builds -> Movement strategies are subject to change with every wipe/patch. Therefore it'd be unnecessarily repetitive for every guide video on EFT to come with a disclaimer following, especially on videos like these which are meant to go into very in-depth topics on the current state of events. While I completely understand what everyone's getting at (2000+ hrs in the game), I think it's a very unfruitful and therefore unnecessary addition to the video to have to put a disclaimer as such every time. Anywho, interesting take on 1 Hemo + 1 Car kit, I'll have to really give that a shot. Since I find myself often being ok with running partial Salewa/IFAK's often anyway (200+ heal min)
Yeah I agree. Occasionally I will do so e.g. Scav vest was not required for Punisher, just because it is so problematic if someone does it, gets kills and then it doesn't count because it was patched later (as it has been now). Whereas these kinds of tricks are more "harmless". As I said on another comment, if something gets out of date and people comment on the old video, I typically add a piece to the desc/pinned comment explaining what is not valid any more :)
I used to just carry a griz in my gamma and a cms with docs case and then bring army bandage and hemostat in my pockets every raid, worth it to be honest
I have a standard account but got the 2×3 container from peacekeeper, I keep a grizzly and 2 open slots in case of good loot, I rarely replace it and its the best for heal density with my low storage space
@@Gigabeef dont underestimate the effectiveness of an army bandage +2 ai2s ;) I like to be able to just stop bleeds fast without needing to worry about my salewa or car losing half its durability cus it healed a heavy bleed on a black leg.
I use the mixture of Carkit, Celok, Armybandage and Morphin since the latter part of last wipe. Had CMS and Alu-Splint in my Beta Container (did the Barter). Last two Raids I had 6Kills, 4 in one Raid until a Threeman RIPed me. Used a Survkit and won't switch back. Had 3 Broken Limbs in Later, 2 Fractures. I personally think the Army Bandages are worth the 2k. Not much on the hot stone.

oh man, they're totally gonna fix this stuff sooner or later. At least I hope. its bloody weird you can multitask like that when you need your free hands open to do anything like this normally. Like I never knew these techniques, but normally I'd switch to a melee weapon so I can top off a bolt action or shotgun quicker than the animations could. Its ridiculous
About a month and a half into this wipe right now, first wipe ever. I run a calok which has 3 heavy bleed heal potential, As well as a bandage that has two light bleed potentially, and an salewa in my rig, then my pain pills, CMS and the 400hp (AFAK?) in my beta case. Is that good at all? I thought that was the best combo now doubt but I'm second guessing now... Anyone got any tips? Should I just run a salewa and an AFAK or like whatsup
Doesn't sound too bad to me - I guess you have an alu splint somewhere unless you're relying on the pain meds until you leave the raid. I just use calok + CAR because you can hotkey them both onto the same key (check out my hotkeys vid if you haven't seen it). But you can use calok + salewa if you want more total HP pool. I just find it unnecessary most of the time if you have an AFAK backup in the secure

Sure, but i think some of these intertwined healing, reloading animation wont be skippable anymore as the game goes forward. Its still a neat thing to know for now
Imma be real, the zipper is so loud that's the main reason I use salewas 😂 sometimes I use afaks since I raider hunt so much. I often need the higher hp pool of salewa and afak car wouldn't cut it for me
If you don't care about roubles I feel like there's absolutely no reason to use anything else than Grizzly. Even if you do care, it's dirt cheap with the barter and it should last a couple of raids for an average player. I've used grizzly and calok paired with vaseline and propital/morphine for a major part of this wipe. Surv12 obviously in the ass with the injector case. Not the cheapest setup out there, but it can fix everything and atleast you never die because you were missing some heals.
As I said it takes longer to fix heavies and lights than the Salewa because you have to wait for the full animation - that extra 2 seconds can get you killed if you're being pressed
@@Gigabeef That's why I have calok and propital hotkeyed in my rig. I don't think light bleeds are really a factor in mid firefight and in a tight situation I'll use calok for heavy bleeds either way. I might use Salewas if it had more hp, that's the biggest problem I have with them. Quite often I find myself burning more than 800hp worth of heals, so I'd probably carry 3 Salewas at all times. I'd also have to carry an alu splint as Salewas don't fix fractures.
got my hemostat on press 4 and my medkits on release 4. could use bandages but i dont really care about loosing some k, when it makes me much more comfortable in raid. cuz that way i know i wont fatfinger my medkit and waste it on a heavy bleed. which fcked me over a lot cuz i usually use meds i found in raid.
Typically I have an AFAK, calok, splint and injector case in my gamma. I have it split up instead of using a grizzly in case I NEED to take something out of raid, I can sacrifice part of my healing instead of all of it. Quid pro quo I suppose.
What about injectors though? I feel like the combination of Zagustin (in the case of bleeds) + ETG would be faster to apply and more powerful heals than any of the other medkits... It wouldn't fix fractures but it would get you most of the way there.
It would also be crazy expensive compared to using medkits. Yes, it would be more powerful, but I think there's no need for such measures if you're certain that the fight is over and you're no longer in danger. Also, ETG and Zagustin won't prioritize your thorax, so you might have to use a medkit there in some cases anyway.
Yeah I didn't want to start going down that route with the video because I wanted to focus mainly on meds that people hotkey. Very rare for someone to take Zag/ETG in pockets etc, you don't have to "decide" what stims to take any more because we can hold so many in the stim pouch
@gigabeef just a little error report in the information you provided on the grizzly. 2 mins in you said the max hp you could heal is 84 and the 175 was pointless. This is incorrect as if you had a heavy bleed and 45 damage taken on the same leg then this would take 175 ;) but a great video never the less. Lee
The health heal amount and the cost in the grizzly to heal the status should be two different things I believe, so all the 175 does is speeds up the heal rate - salewa will also heal heavy plus your whole limb I believe although I haven't tested it specifically And thanks! :)
I think it also matters what map you are playing on so for example a car kit would be completely fine in factory because the risk of dying and loosing it before you even get to use it is really high and the games aren't long but you would probably want more healing in a big map like customs since the map is a lot bigger and you most likely wont die instantly and get chances to heal
i honestly cannot be bothered to heal any bleeds with a salewa, i'd rather heal bleeds first with bandages / hemostat / anything then heal up while reloading
I wonder how this "advanced mechanic" will change with the updated animations. Seeing as this is not a "mechanic" but an exploit of the mechanics. Hence why its not widely talked about. The same as "jiggle peaking" was before Inertia.
Good stuff, but is it bad that I wish the dev removed the ability to "multi-task through menus" like that? I feel that its just kind of unfair to most players, especially newer one, who would expect someone to be "healing and on a nearly dry mag" to push and then just get clapped on because, you know, experienced players get to completely skip a reload animation. I know its not cheating (since the game allows you to do it) but it *feels* like cheating in the sense that it trumps what a character should be allowed to do anyways.
This should not be happening and should be reported as a bug. I reported the bug/exploit that allowed you to ADS and then freelook with the same zoom and luckilly bSG fixed it. Now you cannot ads and free look anymore. Please report these exploits too.
Or you could hit yourself with 2x AHF1-M, 1x Zagustin, 2x Propital, 1x Meldonin, 1x ETG-c All you really need is 2x4 slots for purified water jerricans to avoid dehydration (and x2 SJ6 or a bunch of M.U.L.E. to help you carry them). Next you need to make sure you're being shot at so you can compensate the "increased eyesight" with the right amount of blurred vision. But you don't want to be shot at *too much* (gotta strike a balance there) so in order to reduce the damage taken you should pop a P22 stim. If you can't afford it just go kill one of Reshala's guards for a class 6 Zabrolo-Sh armor. The Altyn helmet is also really useful to negate some of the stims tunnel vision as it basically makes it unnoticeable with the visor down (and if you're worried about the decreased brightness, just bring more flashlights)! Now if with all of that you get the shakes you can always pop a SJ1 TGLab and you should be good to go! Don't forget to bring dehydrated milk though.
This is my second wipe currently and I’ve been doing all the “cheesy healing” since the middle of last wipe. I don’t even watch most takrov content, how do people not know some of these lmao
