From where I am standing, it looks like Goomba was a technically better racer, but you basically executed all the theory that made all the shortcuts possible. I think you should take extra pride knowing that you laid the foundations for most of the course records even if you dont hold them yourself.

His original Mario Kart 64 video is probably what inspired it, since that was released the year before the first new shortcut was found. People watched that one, and probably decided to try and see if there was a way to make some huge, previously unknown cuts in Double Dash.

I agree, that was such a wholesome detail. Also such mad props to iMathII for not just finding the skips and setting the first records, but managing to keep up with and trade and even hold records against the world class driving Goomba. Normally it you’re not the top and you find a way to break the game, your records are short lived. But he not only kept up with a ton of practice, but also kept being the one to find skips on new courses and trade records, even with a bunch of absolutely optimal classic driving required. Absolutely insane. What a dynamic duo. Love that they collaborated.

Mathii feels like the main character of a book here. Starting off as a rookie looking up to Goomba, coming to prominence by winning through creative thinking rather than strength or skill initially. After that they become friendly rivals attempting to continually one up each other but also working together to come up with new and better strategies, it's genuinely a type of story you expect to read or watch in middle school.

This world is rapidly passing away and I hope that you repent and take time to change before all out disaster occurs! Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36) if you believed in Messiah you would be following His commands as best as you could. If you are not a follower of Messiah I would highly recommend becoming one. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life - Revelation 3:20. Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God. Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc. Have a blessed day!

Double Dash has always been my favorite mariokart for non-speedruning reasons. But the knowledge that its programming is so airtight that it took until 2018 to find the second viable shortcut and that didn't even open the floodgates just adds to my love of the game. (I think mariokart wii had the rumble volcano shortcut exposed and then a flood of shortcuts opened up.)

The fact that it’s taken so long, so much effort, and most of them don’t even save that much time is a testament to how well polished Double Dash is as a game. The beauty of unpatchable disc-only games like we had in for the Gamecube and earlier consoles is that, not only will they be played for generations, but new players will always be able to experience the game just the way it was released and can try out all these neat tricks or try to make even more discoveries. I think that something is lost in modern games where updates can fix glitches and, as games move more toward a streaming model, publishers can make the fixed version the only way to play.

Of the 10 years I've been on this platform, I don't think I've ever seen a person as humble as Summoning Salt. The fact that his first Mario Kart Wii Ultra Shortcut video is what started this chain of events is insane and almost poetic in a way. The fact that he refuses to refer to it as _his_ most popular video and just calls it "Random Guy" shows just how humble he is. Nearly every other youtuber I've seen would have used that as a shameless plug in a heartbeat. For a guy called Summoning Salt, he is far from salty. And is it just me, or is it weird to watch a Summoning Salt video that *doesn't* open with "We're Finally Landing" by HOME?

The movement freedom of the character in the back of the kart helps make it much more alive. Other games feel like controlling just an inanimate and rigid kart instead of the actual characters. Especially the games that can jump without use of tricks, since it's unnatural for a kart to jump, so it feels like the player is controlling the kart directly telling to jump.

I love these videos and have been a fan for years. I just have one criticism: when you pan the "camera" over the WR charts, it's disorienting because there's no sense of motion. Pure black backgrounds and straight lines don't allow the movement to be conveyed. Consider adding a slight grey grid or gradient or patterned bg or some other kind of texture to show where along the graph we are as we move around. It can be subtle. Anyhow great content as always!
