This is now my faovorite sailboat... so cool! However, I don't think that you ever mention the exact model number for your Engine and the HP specs and normal cruising speed under engine power. Could you let us know please as it seems just about perfect.

It's wildly fun, if you're ever able to get into it it's worth it! Both a sport and a comforting activity, headed these guys sense, a job too! It truly is a jack of all trades experience, carpentry, electricianship, mechanic ship, metalworking, quite a balance between fun and work, but it's a lifestyle for sure

You did tell everyone that you wouldn’t be doing many videos during the northwest passage, and that’s very understandable! I can’t imagine even attempting that trip in a sailboat, not sure I’d do it in anything but a true polar explorer vessel, so I have huge respect for you on this trip! An aluminum sailboat and titanium balls… no other way to describe it! 🤣 Of all the “living on our sailboat” RU-vidrs, you guys have to be the closest to that being reality and FULL time… you obviously truly live and work on this boat and you’ve created every system to accommodate that… some professionally designed and some MacGyver’ed to work the way you need them to! Looking forward to you wintering in Greenland and seeing videos of the passage and whatever you do in Greenland. Will you be looking for rubies and gold, or just good slopes to ski on?? 😂 Awesome video as always. Cheers from 🇨🇦 🤠👍🏼☮️

I have to say, I thought it was unusual to have some of the systems in your living area but now I realize how important these systems are on a sailboat. I live in a house and take our systems for granted. Thank you for sharing this journey with us 😊

From my experience, barometric dampers primary function is to prevent excessive draw up the flue, which can lift the flame off the burner. Then secondarily to prevent any backdraft into the interior space. If your chimney isn’t pulling hard, you just don’t need it. So covering it over as you’ve done makes good sense. Your overall attention to detail is first class, and your successful navigation of the Northwest Passage is the best proof of that! Congratulations to you and your whole crew!

I've sailed for many years, and your seamanship and very capable integration of tides, sea state, and winds, is evident. Thank you for sharing, and your continued outstanding video work!

Saturday evening, Tally Ho published a 34(+) min video, and then you guys with a 36(+) min video, it just can't be any better Are you going to stay the winter in Grønland? Plenty of skiing trips then and some scientific work as well? Stay safe, enjoy life Wago connectors are p'fect, som vaseline or di-electric spray and they won't corrode You have clearly the right experience for sailig in harsh (arctic) area, I truly enjoy following you guys

Have been watching your progress on the tracking page and it demonstrates the longest journey starts with one step, and that applies so much more with arctic sailing when you are doing it six knots at a time. Comparing your journey to the explorers on big wooden ships who didn't survive with the Inuit living and traveling by kayak and umiak who have lived well for thousands of years, and now being impacted by the big freighters and luxury passenger ships who have invaded their waters. Have two brothers who have lived in Alaska for many years, and who went on a hunting trip to Kaktovik, and listened to their stories that were made more real by yours. Hope to have my own adventures soon, and have been learning by your experiences. Thank you for sharing. Remarkable accomplishment.

Juho, you remind me of my Swede airplane pilot instructor. Once flying out of Arizona in high altitude density we were barely stalling the airplane on take off..I was freaking out but he was calm as a cucumber. We were swimming the fences and trees and he's like please just calm down please. Dude, can you have at least some emotion in the face of danger. I'm glad he didn't. Later I found out he was a renound rally race driver navigator. Love your channel guys yiu make it look easy.

I love all the redundancy you built into the systems. Which I've always been a big believer in redundancy for personal safety and function of ship systems at sea. Since you have to rely on what's on your own vessel to get you back to Port safely. It really just boils down to Common Sense

I'm building my boat and not yet on electrical yet. I know exactly why you need double pole . Somehow though i never thought about it considering the boat. Main problem I have with single pole switches is led floodlights staying kindof. But as stray currents in the boat that would be unforgiving. I'm sooo frkng glad i watched this video.
@danielboughton3624
@danielboughton3624 6 дней назад
@ewauvwas DC is a loop between the poles of the battery. Complications here are going to be with introduced current e.g. from the AC system. DC ground planes are a fascinating subject for electronics designers and will be the cause of most or all problems. In this case maybe look really hard at galvanic isolation for shore power and keep your ground exposure e.g. through the engine block minimal.

The transducer is interesting. It must be in the water to work. On plastic boats the transducer can be inside a water filled box that is inside the boat. The bottom of the box is the solid not foam core fiberglass hull.

Hi Sohvi, and that other guy who probably is doing all the work. That getting off the boat short looks a lot sketchy wearing a full insulated suit, climbing up snow, and ice holding a rope over ice water. WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA, without some safety gear, like a line or floatation.

I am in the process of rebuilding my own 44 footer for long distance cruising. Like the way the boat is rigged up for quick and easy access to "everything that will go wrong" ( just a matter of time ) I also rigs my boat with easy access and dual system sources for when "when shit hits the fan". You are exciting and educational to follow, keep up the good work. Greetings from Northern Norway

Wow, fascinating ! Comprehensive, always a back up system & plan B, but all achieved in the simplest & most reliable way. Super accessible too, which I love. Perhaps not the most aesthetic appearance, but the aesthetics are all around you outside & you need absolute practicality. A funny personal story: I was really looking forward to your next video ( this video ), but I was in the wrong place at the wrong time tonight, and was not observing my surroundings properly and I got myself in a legal predicament where it looked like I was doing something illegal. After about an hour, the police let me go, and I came home and took and shower and turned on RU-vid and got back to my normal monotonous humdrum life.

I totally agree with you regarding the through hulls (I mean holes 🤣 ) in the boat, regarding the shower I have seen a design where the shower and toilet are inside the wheel house and at sea the drains are above sea level with a valve for the tank to be used in port etc. that boat also has watertight bulkheads around the rudder shaft etc, it also used the big diesel heater

I know the ice would open up a way for you at some point; but it's still nerve racking thinking of how one big piece of floating ice could so drastically alter the outcome. take your time now....it's just a week to ice minimum.
