My biggest mistake was listening to this for the last hour of work and continuing to listen while walking home alone in the dark. A car just beeped and I all but left this plane of existence.

I was listening while cutting the grass with headphones in. After I was done I sat in the garage for a little bit still listening. So my wife comes out to get me and (in order not to startle me) she yells from behind me... let's just say her efforts were sweet but had the exact opposite effect from what she was aiming for, lmao.

This story is amazing, because once you realize The Hole is just an infinite puzzle, you can identify the exact moments in the story where the author "solves" one puzzle, and is then immediately directed to a new one with no substantial progress made and nothing about The Hole being explained. If you skip to random parts of the story, there's almost no cohesion or logical progression, just a disoriented narrator getting lead on a wild goose chase by a sadistic AI that wants to keep him busy, and trapped in its game.

My ex-gf introduced herself to me on a public bus, twice starting the convo in two times meeting each other over two months, separate occasions. The second time I asked her out on a date & from then on, we got together very quickly. One day, maybe around 2 months or a bit less into us being together, she shows me a video on her phone. I see myself sitting in said public bus, being filmed from a seat looking the opposite way but around 4 rows of seats down from my own. The camera followed me a bit outside even and when I walked out of view, not once even looking into its direction, the video stopped. I obviously was baffled, but importantly, I looked at the date: the video was taken two whole years before she had even talked to me once. So she admitted by herself to filming me on that day and from then on, having s**ual fantasies about me / us for over two years before finally talking to me. Now it’s about what she did after filming me, for the whole two years she had been „watching“ or „observing“ me ; she would start writing down when / where I‘d get off / on the bus and sometimes run or wait for an earlier / later bus to see me as often as possible, (which means she‘d sometimes wait for half an hour up to an hour because the bus line only drives this frequent, just to eventually see me), she was able to describe my friends well enough for me to know exactly who she saw me with, she would frequent spots or places in the city more often when / if she saw me there, especially multiple times, like in the library, lastly she would mirror me, if I was waiting for the train on one side of the tracks, she would basically stand face to face to me, vis-a-vis and when I would walk she’d do the same on the opposite side all of the above for two years from the first day she had seen me on said bus, until talking to me at all And again that’s just what she admitted by herself. Also she kept admitting to say one detail of the above, then check for my reaction, even being amused at my surprise etc, then reveal something new, so I found out about all details in the period of 1-2 weeks of her telling me bit by bit She told me she was looking for a serious long-term, loving relationship as well, just as I was, told me she loved me more than anything or anyone every day and that she was sure about wanting the relationship, then broke up with me when her mother passed away, from one day to the other, confirming what I should have known before already but was too blind to see: „Sorry, I just can’t Imagine us spending time together without having s**“ „Idk why but I just lost my feelings for you and even if I knew why and we had a solution for the problem, I would still not want to continue because I just don’t feel like it anymore“ „Most of the relationship was good, at least I’m not afraid of s** anymore“ and lastly „Just look at our relationship as if it was an expired phone contract“ She wanted to spend almost all the time we spent together in private in bed, yk „exercising“ not just chilling, apart from family gatherings, going shopping & eating maybe once (to be fair it was covid time when we started dating but still) before, then going back home and immediately engage in bed sports again. She only wanted to meet me once a week in person, visiting usually from around 2-3 am until 9-10 in the evening, then go home, she never slept in the same bed with me even tho I really wanted to. For the record, I let her decide by our agreement what we did since her mother was in her last states of dying from cancer, so I just wanted to be there for her & I would lie if I said I didn’t enjoy it either but even for me, at that time 21 years old( she was 20 yrs old) and with almost no prior experiences, it was a bit much at times. We would facetime pretty much every evening tho and snap/text a lot during the day and even then, 70% or more of what we texted/ snapped and / or talked about, she would turn s**ual at some point. I mean I had 200+ nu.des of her in less than 3 months of dating & being together.. plus the s**ting plus the FaceTime sessions..

This story has the feeling of psychosis. Things seem to make sense, including things that are impossible, until they don't. Then later, when you regain your sanity, you're not sure if you want to remember what actually happened, or if it would even matter anyhow. The paranoia and odd sense of familiarity in certain elements of the story, like his old bedroom, stuck with me, as well. This story was amazing and I'm glad I stuck it out till the end.

@cherbear113
@cherbear113 3 года назад
It IS a trope. But one that still unsettles me every single time. Only because the first really clear memory I have was a nightmare I had when I was 5. Ill describe the nightmare shortly. I brought the dream up to my mom, just in passing in my late 20s. After telling her, I laughed at how creative my mind was for coming up with such a weird dream so young. She on the other hand didn't think it was funny at all. It made sense to her. She separated from my father by then for at least a decade and we had a back n forth relationship since. She said she remembered the day around age five, where like a light switch, I started no longer wanted to be hugged by her. Supposedly I was very clingy up until then. And other things I did or didnt do, told her I no longer blindly trusted her. Nor did I seek comfort as much. If at all. I probably started to see her and my father, but really just her, as less than superhuman for the first time. Yhis happens to everyone regarding their parents. Though most of the time, it occurs alot later than age 5. Sadly, sometimes with severe abuse, before that age. She believed after months of witnessing mental, emotional and physical abuse by him toward her and receiving some emotional abuse as well, I started shutting down. See my father decided, after his wife divorced him because he would not stop seeing my mom, that he would move in with mom and me. I had no idea who this man was until then. Mom saw no reason to tell me since he had not shown any interest to be a dad again. He provided for me and that's all she really cared about. But he convinced her he DID want to be in my life and he could now. Now as much as mom tried to explain it to me slowly and asked him to give me space. He decided his approach was better and entered like a tornado. Changing every family dynamic that was familiar, gave me stability, or made me feel secure. I could no longer sleep in her bed when I got scared. I had to go to bed much earlier - door closed, I had to call him dad at the get go. And to pretty much speak when spoken to. There was more but I think that sufficient to give a gist. It was obvious to me, even at 5, that this man did not actually care about me. But mom and me both agreed I didn't really care. Father was just a word. Why would I care if a bossy, mean stranger, who hit mom when he was drunk, which was often, didn't love me. I was only upset with mom for allowing the drunk bum to completely change our happy home. My mom believed my dream was the manifestation of the betrayal I probably felt. Now that both my parents are gone, I think she was right. I wish I made more of an effort to kindle a stronger relationship with them both. But more my mother. My dad and I had a pretty superficial, joke around(especially at moms expense) relationship. And he would give me money whenever I asked. My relationship with my mom was strained. Mostly because of my life choices. But after that night we talked about the dream, I realized she carried alot of guilt. For things I barely remembered. Even when I would try and connect deeper with her, I think it just came a little too late. The last 3 years of her life was all about my daughter. We got along much better. But I never felt as close with her as I wanted then. Timing was always off. We both carried hurt and guilt that wouldnt allow us anything more than what we had. Now on to the nightmare, that I remember vividly 43 years later. It began with me walking around the neighborhood. I quickly noticed anyone I would see, no longer had feet but roller skates at the end of their legs. Like the skates were people's actual feet. Everyone but me. And now, no one seemed to care to hide it anymore. Like the ruse was up. This included whatever friends I had. When I would ask them why their feet changed to rollerskates they would each start smiling. But impossibly wide smiles. Keep in mind, I'm 5. Never seen a horror movie before. It's 1979, so no internet. The scariest form of entertainment I had was mom's ghost stories, which I loved. It was real life that was becoming horrific for me. So back to the dream. I keep going through the motions of seeing a person I knew; teachers, friends, neighbors. I ask about the rollerskate feet, they give a grin or smile so wide that it would be ear to ear. Sometimes the would cackle. Sometimes they chased me. I ran through most of the dream trying to get home because mom will fix this. Finally I do reach my house. I run in and scream for my mom. I hear her in the kitchen while I start rambling off what's going on. At first, I think she didn't hear me because she wouldn't respond. I keep repeating "Mom!" Until I hear something that stops the voice in my throat. Rolling. But it's loud. Way too loud. I'm frozen. I can't run, can't move, talk or hide. All I can do is look toward the thunder of wheels getting closer. Then I see my moms eye poke out from behind the edge of the wall the noise was coming from. Seeing her allows my voice to function again. But just enough to meekly whisper "mom?" Slowly she begins to roll in on her skatefeet. Looking down at me from extremely long legs, wild matted hair, wide unblinking eyes with arms dragging on the floor. At this I find my voice and scream. The longer I scream the impossibly wide her grin became. I woke straight up in bed. Heart racing, I vaguely remember being the most afraid up until that point and quietly crying. As much as I wanted to call for mom, I didn't. We came to the conclusion that it wasn't only the dream that kept me from calling her. But also because I didn't want to get screamed at by my father again for being a baby who couldn't sleep in my own room. So with everything my mom told me and what I remembered, we both had to acknowledge that that was probably when I lost faith in her to protect me and keep our home a sanctuary. I didn't know how to respond. It was awkward after that and I went home to reflect and cry. While other unwanted memories started surfacing. Good Times.

Reminds me of the ol' two door puzzle. Two doors have guards. Basically, one lies, the other tells the truth, and you can ask one question to one of them, and then you have to choose one. One door leads to death or a trap, and the other to freedom. It's a tricky riddle cause you have to root out who is the liar, AND solve the door issue with one question, or, at least sidestep having to figure out who is the liar, via a well worded question.

There was major major buildup throughout the whole thing up until the climax where he was presumably attacked and forced into the hole. After that it became extremely disorganized and hazy and almost difficult to follow, it felt like when you listen to a story in the background without fully paying attention and then have to keep replaying it to absorb the information, except you were paying attention the whole time. It really fits cause you start to realize the protagonist is the one not making sense, where for the rest of the story you could follow everything he was doing and felt he made atleast semi rational decisions, suddenly he atopped questioning why things were so bizzare. Like he was in a dream and not asking how he suddenly went from one scene to another. I feel like you could interpret it in one of 2 ways in the end. Personally it sounded to me like he had 2 choices, follow the men into the woods, or go to the sound inside his house, and by following the men into the woods he "Escaped" the hole. I also took the rest of the story rather literally and assumed he was *Actually* in the real world the whole time and only entered the hole after the attack, however you could take a more loose interpretation and go the inception rout of assuming he was in the hole the entire story or atleast under its control in someway, and that he never truly escaped but became trapped forever. All in all a good story, had me on edge with dread quite a bit. Definitely wasnt a very "Scary" story as in *BOO* you got scared, but more a creeping feeling of what tf is going on. I will say however I feel this story had the same issue alot of creepypastes, or hell alot of other fear based content get trapped in. If you make a monster a physical tangible thing then it can never be that scary. Jason doesnt scare me cause hes ultimately just a slow moving monster with an ax. He's a thing. If I hit him with a ttank shell hes done for. Sleenderman however does scare me, because he both is and isnt a thing. Its the idea of lovecraftian horror. Slenderman is a great example, seeing him is supposed to make your vision go blurry, but we have pictures of him. When you tthink about it evem a little it becomes far less scary aas you cannot make an image that drives someone mad. The movie birdbox is another example. They made a lonster that literally drives you to suicide and murder just by looking at it, however by making their monster like that tthey also made it so that they could never show the audiance the monster as nothing they could come up with could ever live up to the hype. Mystery is the key to fear. Fear comes from the unknown. Im not afraid of a lion in the zoo, but i am afraid of a lion hiding in the bushes when I'm trapped in the Savannah. The best horror takes a good mix of mystery and answers, enoigh info to make you scared and interested, but not enough to make you feel like you understand the monster and stop feeling so afraid. Creepypastas often fall into one of of 2 categories I find, either the monster is fully described as some awful ugly beast and they rely on the description and wonder of where ot comes from to scare you which is ultimately too much information, or they overcorrect with mystery and leave you more confused theb scared by giving next to no information. This story felt confusing to a point cause so much random info was given it almost felt like we were given no information. Honestly I have no clue if this was a story about some dude haunted by his past or, or a story about a dead man turned into a machine copy, or if it was a man trapped inside of the matrix after Y2K. I feel the dreadd was good but it couldve used atleast a pinch of solide grounded info that didnt just confuse me. Anyways that's my rant. Good video, perfect for mmindlessly clearing an entire fo re st in minec r afr

I thought that the main character might have taken up on angelica's offer. Everything started at that point in the story. As soon as he "leaves" all the weird stuff stops. If the first part was in fact real then why doesn't he keep getting harassed. We have already been told by his "future self" that whatever has been keeping him in there doesn't like to let its victims go. I personally believe that he clicked the link from angelica and that is when he visited the "hole"

Astonishingly scary and unnerving story, flawless narration and (I hate you for this) genuinely creepy and well-placed sound effects. I'm alone at home and I genuinely had to stop halfway through, have something to eat, go back into my room and turn the lights on to get through the rest of it. A lot of the sounds had me taking my headphones off or pausing the video to check if they were real or a part of the story. Damn you and damn HyperX and their absurdly good quality headphones.

We are all in the hole just not aware of it. The hole is more like a rabbit hole. The more you notice the more you get drawn in. When it says about electrons leaving empty space behind this happens all the time everywhere. According to quantum mechanics electrons are never actually there and are always in a state of superposition meaning they only are there if upon observation according to a probability. What MC sees in the hole is the states that never were. He sees the entire spectrum of opposites, the negative possibilities of where the electrons are. This means he is seeing all the alternative paths of reality superimposed seamlessly into one timeless experience. This is what he sees purely when he looks into the hole, the blank screen where he sees "everything". People are drawn into the hole by the internet because of the sheer flux of electrons a window into the hole is made. Entities somehow freely traverse the hole and want to keep you there. Not sure why. Bed woman was one of the original victim of the hole. The hole got her before the internet and she used the internet as a tool to lure the kids like MC in as well. When the kids went into the hole they too became actors of it, they became one with it. The dog is an entity of the hole. Moses guy is MC from another timeline. The bees are his method of breaking the holes pull somehow. He probably learned how to traverse the hole like the entities and made the bees to help the alternate versions of himself and others. Detective is just detective but at the end he is talking to MCs dad in the past where MC died in the hole. Angelica was and wasn't angelica. First was real. Second was an entity.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that this is one of the best horror stories I have ever heard. I'm a sucker for stories in which the boundaries of reality start to break down and we're left wondering what the hell is going on, and this story does that masterfully, while also giving us _just_ enough answers and recurring motifs that it doesn't just feel like it's throwing random spooky imagery at the wall to see what sticks. The idea of "the Anti-Net" is a cool one dripping with eldritch implications, and every turn in the story raises more questions about just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Combine that with the fact that it steers away from most of the cliches of creepypasta storytelling, and you're left with a story I'm probably going to keep coming back to for years as a go-to example of how to do the genre right. Massive props to the original creator!

Oh man, the waves of unease and dread throughout this is masterful! I can usually piece together what's happening long before it happens, but even knowing where the story was going there were so many other side paths that keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering what's next. This author should be selling books. I'd read every one.

I’ve never listened to a story as unique as this, this is absolutely amazing. I think there’s something very unsettling about things we can’t understand, that makes them scarier than any good old fashioned ghost or monster story could ever be. It’s hard to explain why I like this story so much because it’s so bizzare, but that’s exactly what makes it so great. I wish there were more creepypastas like this, but it takes a lot of talent to write something like this.

I like how everyone keeps telling him to let it go and he's like, "Oh no,... anyways..." Completely ignoring every single terrifying story he's been told. Even the demon getting to his own mother. 😂😂 But in a way, everyone telling him to let it go didn't want him to speak to Moses, thus not figuring out how to leave.

Yeah that’s what helps lead the thought that he’s made it out. Cause everything there seemed crooked and trying to get attention away. That and the biblical representation and symbols. But I think he went a level down like inception type of thing when that being threatened him.

Oh man, this story. I have feelings that are decidedly mixed about it. On the one hand? It's a very well written story with some of the most legitimately nerve-wracking and tense moments I've ever experienced. The duplex scene was practically perfection. The Egypt scene was also very well executed. The entire first half is a masterclass of setting up an interesting mystery. But man... this story has some issues. And I think that frustrates me more than something objectively bad like Jeff the Killer. This story is good and it's a little bit of refinement away from being great. The biggest issue is pacing. It felt like the first half took it's time setting things up, only to blitz towards the end after the Egypt scene. Why didn't he and the detective talk right then? Why was everything with Milky, Ben, and his mom just fine, until it wasn't? The second half jumped from heart pounding moment to heart pounding moment, and while that's cool, in theory, giving the audience more time to breathe and relax can create a way more devastating payoff. My other issue is unanswered questions. There is something to be said for not spelling things out for people, but good lord this story introduced and dropped plot threads quicker than I could register them, and it leaves a lot of questions when I imagine the most important one the audience should speculate on is: what is the hole? For example. - Who is the protagonist really? Is he the person telling the story? The bones found in the hole? The person in the video? All three? Again, can be left open to interpretation, but would have liked more definitive answers there. - Why was the detective suddenly suspicious of the protagonist at the 11th hour? - How tied into this is Connie? - What was the machine? - Most Importantly, who is the real Angelica? I felt there are so many places and answers that could have been, and lead to more questions, but a lot of it was just... vaguely unsettling with no payoff. Ultimately, I think this story could be amazing, but the back half needs some fleshing out and the world needs expansion. The narration, I am less torn on. Absolutely amazing work here.

I gotta agree with you on this one. I was super into this for a while, especially that part with the PLEASE. But eventually I started feeling brain-tired as the story kept introducing creepy imagery and events without actually tying things together. Like, I started seeing a pattern of Oh, that's creepy... but I probably won't get more on this. So it started feeling like somebody was deliberately trying to creep me out, which makes it a lot less creepy. And then it ended with what seemed like either "it was all just a dream" or "none of it was real" which I think is generally considered as a bad/lazy payoff.

Glad someone else is saying this, too. I listened to this story twice; first time on a whim, and then again because I liked it and wanted to understand it better. There are a lot of spots that are just sort of. There. They don't have any point or place even though they feel important, and by the end everything just leaves you with more questions. What was the deal with The New Way? Was it a cult? Did they brainwash them with the hole? What's their objective? Is the main character dead, or an imposter, or some part of the hole? Was the end him leaving the hole, or going into it? Is it a trick? Some kind of trap? At times, people seem normal, and then they'll talk with some unnerving undertone that hints to them being fakes, or maybe mind controlled. And what about that scene with Angelica, where her friend accused her of hacking her account because "Angelica is right here." So can the hole manifest into the real world, or can in manifest because they're in the hole, or was Angelica the imposter all along, and she just didn't know? I love this story so much, but it just doesn't mean anything. I wish I could get in contact with the author and ask what their vision was, because it really is just so well-written, but there were a lot of ideas without execution

This one is really good. Like the whole setup of remembering old computers and stuff and that empty feeling when your brain pulls a blank on what it was like experiencing those things, really added to the creepiness of the whole thing, and all the unraveling of a conspiracy inexplicably tied to the places in your memory your mind blanks out on was an unexpectedly terrifying idea. And really atmospheric too, it was very easy to visualise the environments, and I don't know if that was a product of the original writers talent or how you brought it to life of both. Probably my favorite bit of internet fiction now.
