It goes way deeper. Luffy's laugh is "shishishi", which might relate to the concept of Shinsen: Offering food to the gods, in excahnge for their favor. Blindly trusting people, that have offered him food, is 100% a Luffy thing. And there is also the symbolism of a "failed meal", e.g. a poisoned meal - leading to war. Additionally, it was about cherry pie. Cherries are a recurring theme here and there too, see Chopper's arc. Furthermore, the real world town called "Jois", like Mary Geoise exists. It's flag has cherries in it and remotely resembles the world government flag.

​@@justmando9488Nah the ones messing it up are the official subs, they translate it to "spirit" or "ambition" cuz they didn't know that Haki was actually a thing at the time, that's why official subs don't correct it to Haki until Ep 316 with the Whitebeard/Shanks scene, where it became more apparent that it's actually a power thing. Oda *did* foreshadow Haki this early, even the One Piece Wiki says it first got mentioned in Jaya. The same goes for Sengoku in this episode. Fansubs got his epithet correct by calling him "Sengoku the Buddha" but go look at the official subs for 151, there it says "Saint Sengoku" which is obviously wrong lmao. Just like Haki they corrected it later on to "The Buddha" once they realized it was supposed to be that, y'know cuz of his Devil Fruit and all. So yeah the official subs are filled with misinformation and misinterpretations while the fansubs are accurate.

I dont think WB was strongest in this timeline. Not when shanks and mihawk are in their prime. He got this title because of his rivalry with roger and thus oda simply wanted to hype him up. This title works for him in his prime but not here. He is sick and on treatment. So no way is he the strongest. Its like saying sick Itachi is stronger than obito.

Nah Haki was mentioned here, the other translations got it wrong here and it wasn't corrected until 316, just like how in other translations they messed up "Sengoku the Buddha" here in 151 and called him "Saint Sengoku" instead, which is wrong.

He said Luffy was a liar at the bar when he said his bounty was 30 mil is, in 151 he even said "I thought 30 mil was too low for Haki" but even he was surprised that it was 100 mil. So Blackbeard sensed his Haki at the bar basically.

I mean look at the live-action of Arlong Park, it spoiled the Fishman racism thing waaay too early on and Oda was involved with that. Oda would probably explain Haki much earlier on if he had the option to rewrite One Piece, editor is simply doing what Oda would likely want to do like what he did with the live-action.
