Just discovered you on TikTok...I’m an actuary, so I’ll offer some thoughts for anyone thinking about it. There’s actually 10 exams, 7 for Associate and 3 more for Fellowship. And yes the exams are every bit as hard as you’re thinking. I know some people who just got burned out and quit so it definitely takes a “stubborn” person. His starting salary is probably based off the east coast, which isn’t necessarily wrong just thought it was important to mention. It’s a great career, but requires a huge commitment!
Death Retard -> He’s definitely right about math, that’s necessary to succeed on the exams. But the three most crucial skills/attributes are easily problem solving, communication, and being self motivated. A lot of times we work alone on projects (yes I ask for help from coworkers a bunch, but a lot of times they won’t be as familiar with my work), so it’s important to be able to effectively solve complex problems. Communication is huge because we do complex work, but that work is useless if you can’t explain it to someone that’s not an actuary. Being self motivated is important for the same reason as problem solving. We work alone so it’s really just up to you to keep yourself on track.
Adeyinka, so I’m not a great example. I passed 5 of them in my 4 years of college. And I’m still taking them now, most people don’t get done until their mid to late 20s. But my number isn’t a good benchmark. Average candidates pass 2 of the exams in college and, like he said in the video, if you pass 3 of the exams in college that’s considered to be pretty well committed to the career by employers and is a good way to help land a full time job.

Income Over Outcome what kinds of jobs would you suggest for people that are not tech/math minded and the salary is at least 75k? I don’t really stress too much about 6 figures( would be nice, but not an absolute necessity) since I don’t plan to be married or have children.
So a double major in healthcare business and finance is pretty good right, coz theres the investment banking, consultants and other great corporate jobs

I am an International student and pursuing a Master in Finance from this fall. Even with a scholarship I have to pay around 25k for 9 months. I am still pursuing it with loans. Your video gave me so much hope. I also have an MBA. I hope it’s worth it.
good video. high salaries are often misleading. 100k at 80 hours a week to me is working two 50k jobs so not really that high paying. that's a lot of overtime. i chose software. 40 hours per week. love the work life balance.
@@CytheTV areas related to big data or analytics or statistics will require more math. same for jobs in financial industry or if you are building apps for industries that require geometry. for example, architectural apps. but there are a ton of areas where you need to know about basic math, remainders, conversions from milliseconds to whatever... You still might occasionally run into something more heavy, but there is probably someone on the team who can help with that. now, if you plan to get a computer science degree, you will end up taking calculus and other higher levels of math as part of your schooling. Go the self-taught route and you could still have a successful career with less math. but if you are starting out and plan to go to college, then i would recommend a cs degree. I very rarely have to use anything more than basic math and sometimes algebra concepts.

Haha u should prob make a video on highest hourly paying jobs. Not bc some jobs pay hourly, but divide salary by hours worked to see how much you are getting per hour. Bc although jobs like consulting and inv. Banking pay a lot, they make you work a lot of hours. So therefore you are not getting paid relatively as much per hour you work
Basically, but people like the glory of the job and the real benefit is that as you progress in your career your pay goes wayyyy up and hours aren't as bad
Cyber security. Making over 90K a year out of college. Demand is only growing and what’s better than fighting bad guys in the digital world. Just look up salaries tied to most cyber security jobs on any job site. Most fall in the 75k to 125k range and salaries are higher for those with more experience and high level certifications like CISSP.

Hi mate I’m 14 and in September going in a stem specialist school with loads of sponsors which pay for your uni and you work with them whilst still getting payed for around 2 years, my dad has always conditioned me into investment banking because I’ve always been good with numbers, my dad is a salesman he goes into peoples houses and sales them conservatory’s , I was wondering whether I should have an intern ship at a investment bank like Goldman sachs (hopefully) or go somewhere more focused on selling customer a product. Look into computer science and software development. It tends to be a bit maths-heavy but it is extremely well-paying and you can likely find an internship, and then a cushy work-from home job letting you live with your parents to save money. If you are wise and find a good investment, you may be able to become a millionaire, but that is a whole different topic.
