Listen to me, as when ye heard our father Sing long ago, the song of other shores- Listen to me, and then in chorus gather All your deep voices, as ye pull your oars: CHORUS. Fair these broad meads - these hoary woods are grand; But we are exiles from our fathers’ land. From the lone shieling of the misty island Mountains divide us, and the waste of seas- Yet still the blood is strong, the heart is Highland, And we in dreams behold the Hebrides: Fair these broad meads - these hoary woods are grand; But we are exiles from our fathers’ land. We ne’er shall tread the fancy-haunted valley, Where ‘tween the dark hills creeps the small clear stream, In arms around the patriarch banner rally, Nor see the moon on royal tombstones gleam: Fair these broad meads - these hoary woods are grand; But we are exiles from our fathers’ land. When the bold kindred, in the time long-vanishd, Conquer’d the soil and fortified the keep- No seer foretold the children would be banish’d, That a degenerate Lord might boast his sheep: Fair these broad meads - these hoary woods are grand; But we are exiles from our fathers’ land. Come foreign rage - let Discord burst in slaughter! O then for clansman true, and stern claymore- The hearts that would have given their blood like water, Beat heavily beyond the Atlantic roar: Fair these broad meads - these hoary woods are grand; But we are exiles from our fathers’ land.

I was stumped, too. It wasn't until the narrator provided the English translation that I was able to back-translate to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 _ceud mìle fàilte_ / 🇮🇪 _céad míle fáilte._ 😂😂

I was pleasantly surprised to see my grandfather appear at the 5:38 minute mark along with other members of The North Shore Gaelic Singers at the milling frolic scene. He was involved in the construction of the Gaelic College and also did thatch repairs on the Lone Shieling. Dan K. MacLeod (1892-1972)

If there was any acknowledgement at all that there were (and are) indigenous peoples in Nova Scotia then I missed it.

Yes, this is a classic example of the cultural erasure of Indigenous people that has happened all across the country (think Group of Seven). The effort the build national narratives out of the European fragments sadly rejected or ignored the idea that the land was occupied, worked, and conceptualized in art for thousands of years by Indigenous people. To speak of Bras D’Or Lake and not mention the Mi’kmaq people in Eskasoni, for example, is a glaring omission, especially considering that community’s (the largest Mi’kmaq community in Canada) close connections to both the Acadian and Gaelic cultures. This film is an artifact of its time and should be taken as such. I am glad you pointed out this issue.

No, there wasn't any. Your first tip was the title of the video- it's about the Celtic people who settled and built up CB into a functional and productive part of western civilization. If you want that kind of groveling and brain-washing, visit any public school in NS and you can listen to it before announcements. But don't worry. It won't be long until all the land in Canada is handed over to UNDRIP and you can live happily ever after in your 15 minute city aka white reservation with your woke pals. Enjoy ze bugs... Have a great day!

He's in full flight there. It would be great if someone could provide actual footage of scotty performing in a setting like this.

Nazi display case "plastic paddies" the true Irish and Scottish people. Vinland has been confirmed to be in newfoundland. It's recorded in viking sagas that Greater Ireland is south of Vinland . Algonquin people speak Irish . Then simply read who invented this language . Walk like Egyptians.
