I have to say guys that I’m 72 and just sold my house and bought my first motorhome. Don’t let ageism spoil your dreams, it’s never too late to turn your back on the rat-race and head for the hills (and valleys, lakes, coasts, mountains and countryside) 👍✌️

I quite enjoy when you cut to other people to answer some of the questions, everyone has different experiences, goes to different places and drives different types of motorhomes or converted vans so its good to get an insight on how a variety of people think and act while on the road, keep up the good work.

Hey thanks for the comment. Daz knows that the new format of the fortnightly Motorhome Mondays will split opinions - some love the guests, some prefer to just see Daz. Do you have any other things you'd like to see? Out of interest, would you subscribe to a separate Motorhome Mondays channel?

@@joline2730 Hey thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely keep that in mind next time. To be honest, I let "keep a consistent look" get in the way of watch-ability. The app screen recording stretched across 2 clips was a coin toss whether Daz's face or the charge point was more important. 🤭 It was a really information-dense segment. Do you think keeping those large amounts of written information in the description would be better?

Dear Daz I have just found you on RU-vid and love it. I am an older lady, and when I was made redundant in 2019 I spent half of my redundancy on a second had Motorhome trading in a Talbot express Campervan. I loved that van but she was not big enough to live in. I know have a 2006 Lunar Premier on a Renault Master Base. I looked at every conceivable layout and this is the layout I love, a fixed French Bed, with a bit of storage under, with access to the outside. Loo and shower, I must admit the Shower tends to be used to store vacuum, mop, dirty clothes Towels and an Iron. My Kitchen has a massive fridge and freezer, and my sitting room can sit 6 people easily. I now spend the Summer seasons working as a Cook/Chef on campsites. This means during the Summer I am always working. Trying to save for the winter. The good thing when I am working I have free electric and all the campsite facilities. I managed to prang the side of my van on a bollard, (don’t ask I’m very angry with myself.) that has taken up a lot of my savings to get renspaired. Someone has nicked my Awning they left the mounts. Any idea where I can get a new one 4 metres long. I saw your article on Lithium batteries and I would love to do that, I have 2 normal leisure batteries and a solar panel my electric lights in the van are not at there best, but as I have electric most of the time I have just put 2 x 5 meter LED lights up around the edge of the Motorhome it really works, what I would like to do as they are only 12volts I want to wire them into my leisure battery system. If all goes well I would love to come to one of your meets in the Autumn would this be possible. 😛

Hi Daz just saw you charging your lead in tesco just be careful never to leave you vehicle unattended when charging in public as it is illegal and you could be fined also if someone was to trip over it and injured themselves you would be held accountable and your insurance provider mite not cover you this applies to EV charging as well with electric cars as well.

Compressor fridge won't need an inverter, just 12v. Well worth it when yours is dead.

Many Park & Ride sites also have electric charging points too, be careful though, many of them also have height restricting barriers specifically to deter travellers vans.

Hi Daz, Great vid as always. Regarding the EV hookup, is there an amp limit in the same way campsites have limits before you blow a fuse or the whole sites? J

I have read that connecting with just one of the 3 phases of AC, it IS limited by the charger - as I understand it, you won't get more than a domestic socket can provide, but that was from a Google search. Cables and adapters much like this have existed for a while to charge much older EVs, like the Twizzy or G-Wizz. Also for e-bikes. Like any mains extension lead, make sure you don't keep the cable coiled up while in use. I once melted a cable reel, set off the smoke alarms and blew the fuse in the house when using a wallpaper steamer!

The whole point of van life is to free yourself from the trappings of possessions etc, so having a lockup or garage defeats the purpose.

I chose van life just needed a place to live that was cheap but I love the fact I have so much less stuff now, and also being forced to be careful about things I buy because there's limited space for things. It's very liberating!

How does the payment process work at the electric pump ?

The pod-point chargers featured in this video, are paid with the accompanying app. Top up your app with a debit/credit card and use until you need to top up again. If you're the "cash" kind of person, you could find a virtual online bank account that you can deposit into at the Post Office or similar.

@@itsmeagain8604 - The app allows you to pre pay top-up. When you plug it into the charge station, it locks in place. If someone comes along and needs it and you’re kind enough to unplug, you just turn the key and pull out the plug. As soon as you pull the plug out, your session usage will be deducted from the pre-paid top up amount. It will only charge you for what you’ve used, so you’re not losing out.

It's been a while since I had to worry about paying house bills. I had to Google search - Yeah, it's cheaper than an average household price per KWH, plus there's no standing charge of maybe 50p or more per day. If it gives me cheaper electric, I have no problem with the charge stations and apps showing me adverts I can tune out.

Wanted to reassure you that the new "Motorhome Mondays" is a fortnightly *extra* video on top of the normal weekly video on Fridays - the Friday videos will keep to the original format. Daz has put some thought into launching separate channels for different video content. Do you have any thoughts?

Hey Joe. Weekly Friday videos are still the normal content style - Starring Daz and focussed around a single topic or adventure. Motorhome Mondays is an additional fortnightly show in the new "community" format - Daz is actually off-camera asking the questions in some of the clips. We added chapters in the last show to help viewers jump to their favourite parts - would that help? I's an evolving show, and any suggestions are gratefully received😎
