In this video of the Business House series, “The Hinduja Group - Origin, Businesses and Expansion“, we will be talking about the Hinduja Group.
We will begin the video introducing the group’s founding days and how it progressed with its expansions. The Hinduja group was established by Mr. Parmanand Hinduja in Iran a hundred years back. Today the group employs over 1,50,000 who are working in 38 nations around the world.
The group has continued to expand by venturing into several domains such as Automotive, Information Technology, Media, Entertainment & Communications, Infrastructure Project, Development, Oil & Specialty Chemicals, Power, Real Estate and Healthcare.
The expansion has been spearheaded by the group’s current Chairman Mr. Srichand Hinduja. He has been fully supported by his brothers Mr. Gopichand, Prakash and Mr. Ashok Hinduja.
We will then discuss in brief a timeline of major milestones for the group. Such as when in the year 1978, Hinduja Bank (Switzerland) Ltd was founded as a financial organization. Or when in 1987, the Ashok Leyland trucks first began in India and later extended to Dubai and Sri Lanka.
After that, we will discuss the various listed major company segments of the group. The likes of IndusInd Bank, Gulf Oil Corporation, Ashok Leyland and Hinduja Global Solutions will be discussed in this part.
For instance, Ashok Leyland is the 2nd largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India, the 4th largest manufacturer of buses in the world and the 16th largest manufacturer of trucks in the world. Similarly, a wide reach of 1000 Bank branches, makes IndusInd bank a significant player in the Indian financial services industry.
In the final part of the video, we will discuss the key managerial persons and the promoters of the group. Such information will help fundamental investors during their research.
Towards the end, we will also discuss what the future holds for the group with the third and the fourth generations of the Hinduja’s ready to take over the helms of the company.
