@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I have a recommendation for a hidden "gem". Did you ever play the Rollergames arcade? It was a button masher but a lot of fun
The 16 bit games always fascinated me. The attempt to take fighting game mechanics and apply them to a side strolling beat ‘em up always seemed like a big swing, even if the execution falls short. …and I’d very much like to hear your take.
How did we not get a Batman The Animated Series Arcade Beat ‘em up? Imagine 4 players with Batman, Robin, Batgirl and Catwomen in a Konami The Simpsons style.
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries Catwomen in the Animated Series was never really a villain. I did struggle to think of the fourth playable character. If it was the New Adventures in 97 then definitely Nightwing.
Thanks for showing Batman Forever Arcade! I never played this one but it looks fun. That giant Bat logo on his chest armor resembles Charlie Brown's striped yellow/black T-shirt. ;) I did play a console version that was a side scroller type game, but it would be cool to learn more about the console versions of this game, and more Batman from Patman! Thanks PatmanQC!
This game was an underrated gem. I didnt play the arcade cabinet, back in the day, but I did play one of the home conversions (I think it was the Saturn Port) The way the baddies scream after u grapple-hook throw them always made me laugh and stuck in my mind throughout the years.
Great video. Wouldn't mind seeing you do another video of the other versions of Batman Forever. Also little off topic, have you considered doing a History of the Contra games? Especially there is a new one coming out next year.
I remember playing the arcade at my local Roy Rogers fast food lobby section. Batman Forever was pretty good, and the soundtrack keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I think I'm in the minority that actually played this but what I really liked about it is that the game is just nuts. So much wild stuff both visual and audio constantly going down. It is just a really fun coop spectacle.
Great video. I never did see this in the arcade where I lived. In fact, I never knew this game was in the arcades, until this video. I guess I missed out on this one. Thanks for the video Patman.
I loved this game in the Arcades I was telling my friends this game is the closest video game out there to what the 66 Batman would look like! This machine took all my quarters! Back in the day I had a SNES & I bought the Batman Forever game & I concur it does have HOLD ON a lot in the game! Crazy enough after I watched this video I did check & I still own it. Played it & Holy Hold On Time on a Cartridge Patman! Riddle me this, when does a cartridge have a load time? When your playing this game on a SNES! Que Jokers laugh here!
Awesome stuff. I did see this in one arcade once, but never played it. At the time, Killer Instinct 2 was where all the quarters were supposed to go. All the cool kids were doing it. And yes, I, for one, would love to see another video in the "crappy little games" series about the 16 bit games. So fun to shit on those games!
I absolutely thought this was going to be another bashing of the infamously bad console games, despite the title of the video. Thank you for putting a spotlight on the lesser known and way better arcade game!
That Patman intro has me laughing😅 if these versions of Batman and Robin were real ppl, they would need to be on some real good drugs to be moving like that! They would make good Bachatta dancers.
I didn't get to see it in person either but it's as spectacular as i imagined it looking at magazines back in 96, also more Patman is always good. Will be waiting for that other Batman Forever history.
i really love this game so much. Lots of great childhood memories. I have it on the Saturn , and my local Barcade here in LA has the arcade which i play every other month or so. i can beat it sometimes with just 2 to 3 dollars spamming that half circle upside down kick with Robin lol.
Lol, you uploaded this at the perfect time. I just got my Hot Toys Batman Forever figure today. I also remember the AVGN episode on the SNES version of the game, and omg you don't realize how bad it is until you play it for yourself. Never played the arcade version, but it looks insane.
Here to let you know that I'd love to watch a video on the home versions of Batman Forever. Specifically, I'm curious why Robin's costume looks like a cheap Halloween costume in the console versions, but looks great in the MS-DOS version.
I wish more arcade games had been released for home consoles mainly for the playstation 1 and 2 but this one of the best ones to get a home port its wacky entertaining side scrolling beat um up with a lot of action going on. Batman forever is my second favourite batman movie.
Another great video! Like you, I never saw this game in an arcade when it was new, glad you eventually caught up with it later. That Atari letter was a great find, too! As much as I don't want to wish that earlier SNES version on you, I'd like to see you do a video on that just to see what you say about it.
Hello Mr patt I would love to see you review the other counsel really Interesting how that went down , love your review of the batman forever arcade game
I remember the Saturn and SNES versions but never saw the arcade version at any of the places around my area and even out of town at the old mall arcades. Well done on the research.
Yes Pat would like to see the other Batman Forever for consoles isn’t there 8 bit (gameboy,SMS maybe others?) as well as 16 bit. Of course then you may have to play them 😢
Another AWESOME PatMan game review - this game is so….weird. Its actually not bad, but it is so over the top and so…Midway. But as an arcade game, it works well. It’s funny, while this and Konami’s Batman Returns for the SNES are both superior to the original Batman Arcade game for the 89 film on paper, I always go back to the 89 Batman Atari adaptation. Something about its janky Rolling Thunder esque gameplay and slew of digitized voices just works for me. ANYWAYS - for the love of GOD, PLEEEEEZE analyze the turds that are the console Batman Forever games! For some reason I thought you had already done so! It needs the full Patman review treatment and a detailed anal-ysis with the Queefometer! Get to it lad!!! Justice must be had!
LOL, that has to be the comment of the day. The game is a product of the crazy mid-90s arcade games were everything is large and in charge. I loved the 89 arcade game as well just for the level designs and the graphics.
I never saw this in the arcades back in the day but I did try it once for the Saturn. It's a decent beat em up and better than the 16-Bit console versions at the time. If you're up for it I'm down for any information you have in a Batman Forever video and I completely forgot the game was also ported to the Game Boy and Game Gear. I'm so glad I found your channel a few years ago and anything or game you want to talk about I will always stop what I'm doing to check our your content! 😎
Great video! Would really like to hear your opinion on the Batman Forever 16bit console game. The SNES/MD version may have been a clunky mess but did have good music 😂
Oddly the arcade game seems to be rarely mentioned. I don't remember hearing it being a thing even back in the day in the 90s! The widely panned SNES and Genesis games sure got their deserved negative coverage, though. The loading screens on the SNES version are very likely due to data compression used on the cartridge. A bunch of other titles had that as well, like Mickey Mania and Street Fighter Alpha 2.
The thing I find amusing about Batman Forever is that in The Dark Night two-face also dies the same way, falling to death. That means Christopher Nolan ripped off Joel Shumacher lol 🤯😉
I remember 16-year-old me renting the SNES version. I threw it against the wall after wasting two hours on it. I wish I had came across the Arcade instead. I would have flipped out over just the sight of it.
Think about this for a second. Batman Forever the game is better than the movie and still holds up today…how many other movies do you know that has a game better or even on par with the movie,i cant think of any off the top of my head
I watched the movie on opening weekend. this movie was much worse but not as bad as Batman & Robin, which i also I watched the movie on opening weekend, although I did like Arnie. Do a deep dive on the unreleased game. I never saw this game in arcade, I think it was because the movie did not do well in Australia
I thought the action was much better and Batman forever then Batman returns which sort is just seemed like a Tim Burton movie that just happen to have Batman characters in it.
my cousin had the snes port back then. sucks she didnt have the manual, which is essential in this version. being a kid you didnt really expect much, so any complaints we have now as adults are kind of weird cuz we did not care about the things we complain about now, we were just happy to play anything batman. lol ignorance is bliss. also, i played the arcade version at a state fair once, but played it more on the ps1.its still pretty fun.
I've been to a lot of arcades in my time. Back before home consoles basically took over the market. Not once did I ever see this fucker anywhere. It blows my mind too, because the movie was a big deal when it came out. Never mind how good or bad the actual movie was itself. The commercials and merchandise were everywhere. Mcdonalds was of course getting in on it with the happy meals. I would have thought that I would have seen the arcade cabinet somewhere. But no at all, it's almost as if got swept under the rug.
I have the Saturn version the arcade version is just amazing I knew this is butchered but still fun for the Saturn damn I just wish it was ported better because the arcade version is glorious
Goddammit pat. I went against my principals and gave you a "like" before watching the video because you asked... Must enjoy your uploads to do that without even thinking. Thats usually a major nope for me!😅
PatmanQC can you do a review of Batman Forever: The Video Game a lot of port of the games was released for SNES, SEGA GENESIS, MS DOS PC, GAME BOY and finally GAME GEAR. Anyway I'm glad you me and the rest out there are a huge fans of everything specially Batman. But still can you do a history and research of Batman Forever The Video Game?
I still have both games in the Pal version. ^^ The upcoming Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League currently reminds me of a modern version of this classic in terms of gameplay and some sounds. ^^
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I also hope that it will be fun and bring back that arcade feeling. Tekken 8 is supposed to have achieved this in this one mode. ^^ Did you watch the 10 min. gameplay of Suicide Squad at Gamespot? At the end of the round there was a similar evaluation to Batman Forever. That confirmed my suspicions even more. ^^
