If someone could start a nursery, folks can begin to bring plant starts; coconuts, uku, ti, ginger, noni, and more breadfruit, etc for replanting in Lahaina. Everyone can contribute to the this mission. From Kihei, Wailea, Haiku, Pukalani, Hana. L.
In Samoa breadfruit trees (ulu) and Indian almond trees (talie)are traditionally trained to grow in an umbrella shape. The young sapling trees young branches have twine tied with a stone tied at bottom to weight and train the branches to grow horizontal. When trees are mature it facilitates the harvesting of the fruit.
Breadfruit is the best, I’m Jamaican and I grew up on eating breadfruit. Roast and eat it, roast and then fry it, or boil it. It’s the best I tell u. Thanks for sharing because I’d never have known it was also in Hawaii. I love this.
We need to replant billions of trees period. They are what helps shade the earth and makes our air breathable. The entire planet would cool down if we would stop removing trees to build.
Thank you @KITV for presenting this item. We need to keep these things in mind as Lahaina/Lele now moves forward into the next phase of its existence. Planning for people, housing, trees, water, infrastructure, "aloha ʻāina", and so on needs to take many things into account; it's not just about the people and houses, concrete and asphalt.
Good question seen the old videos from Thomas Edison’s trip but they mostly seemed to be Oahu. The old videos of Maui seem more on plantation and trains but seen old photos of Moku’ula. Lopaka has Mysteries of Hawai’i RU-vid channel with some old photos of Lele.
I heard that Tiare is going to buy land for a memorial with funds raised from UFC’s Ilima-Lei by having victims families plant Ulu, she didn’t want to name the land owner yet but there’s alot of fallow ag land left unused all around Lele.
@@LightUpYourOppressors Yup, unfortunately she is with the PSP investment owned Mahi Poho. Sounded like she was saying had to sell out after lost election to Kyle.
@@cerberus2654 everyone has a story and it deserves to be told. Even if it’s a tragedy. I’m a self professed tree hugger, but I’m human first and these poor people need our help and deserve to be seen. Just my heart talking.
Huh countless possibly 1000s people still unaccounted for and no substantial help from our government and you’re reporting on freaking trees??? Despicable! Do your job!
