The History of British Animation 

Thank you Antoons so much for making this video and mentioning the British version of Dennis the Menace. The character really means a lot to me, and is really underrated. I salute you for mentioning my boy.

I wonder if one day we’ll see the History of Internet Animation, featuring the conception of Flash, Newgrounds, Homestar Runner, Happy Tree Friends, Eddsworld, Salad Fingers, Asdfmovie, Madness Combat, Making Fiends, Bravest Warriors, Battle for Dream Island and how the medium stayed strong despite Flash’s death in 2020.

I truly enjoy these international animation history videos. Thank you for making these!

With the recent airing of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared on Channel 4, it seems like the channel doesn't forget its puppet roots. And much like Salad Fingers, DHMIS started off as a series of videos on RU-vid. And, like Gumball, is filled with satire, dark humor and commentary on many subjects and matters. It also includes many styles of animation: 2D, 3D and claymation. A very innovative show, that's for sure! It seems like a popular trend with modern British catroon: those that are not aimed at preschoolers are a commentary on some topics. Thank you for showing the history and growth of the animation industry in Britain. This a very good video 👍

British animation is one of the finest. Nostalgic to the core. We are the kings of claymation or stop-motion.

Where's Eddsworld? It's a British internet cartoon created by Edd Gould, who sadly passed away from cancer in 2012, and still continue on with the help from his friends, his siblings and all of his fans around the world.

Thomas and Friends is number #1 for me when it comes to British Animation

Fun fact: creature confronts had the green light for a program on itv1 at one point in 2002-2004 but failed also there was this other show by aardman called angry kid but it wasn’t for kids because when the show aired it aired after the 9pm watershed on this channel called bbc three (which closed in 2016 but revived in 2022 and it’s now on the air) :) there some nice information

I'm surprised that eddsworld wasn't mentioned as it premiered around the time salad fingers did with similar levels of popularity and was even featured in the Copenhagen climate convention.

I thought The Adventures of Tintin was British, but it was Canadian-French animation by Nelvana in the early 1990s.

Not sure if it was mentioned because I never got around to watching the whole thing but I thought I’d mention that during the 70s there was this animation studio called “Animation City” and they did some short animated segments for the Sex Pistols film “The Great Rock N Roll Swindle”

I really liked those stop motion ones, there is also one stop motion cartoon made in chez republic its called “pat and mat”. Its about 2 neighbors who make Shenanigans and then try to fix them. Its really funny.

And In 1979, He Made His Most Famous Piece Of Animation, The Wall (1979) Later Turned Into A Feature Film In 1982.

The movie ending of the plague dogs is more akin to the books original ending which Richard Adams was made to add an epilogue making it less ambiguous and happier. It's a lot truer to what was intended.
