I remember being creeped out by seventies big round headed characters on stop motion animation films. Christmas ones and especially this monster movie with Dracula and Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde and the mummy that keeps losing it's head which rolls around on the floor. Creepy as hell but I couldn't look away..

Ya know, i watched The golden Key, and i find it very interesting. The creators used some nice ideas: Stop Motion (To portray Alice and Basilio, Burattino's face movement and Artemon (portrayed by a real poodle) packing up Turcoise haired girl's things) Split-screen (like Where Alice the vixen and Basilio the cat were begging) Puppetering (in scenes like where Burattino interacts with Duremar, Carabas-Barabas and Father Carlo) Combined scenery (so actors portraying puppets would look smaller by comparison to normal people)

All hope is not lost for the Lou Bunin ALICE film. Animation historian Steve Stanchfield is currently working on a Blu-Ray containing Bunin's films, with commercials, short films and the ALICE feature itself (from the MoMA print you mentioned). He also put out a BluRay/DVD combo of Max Fleischer's GULLIVER TRAVEL'S (with bonus Fleischer cartoons, natch) using actual 35mm Technicolor prints, blowing all other copies out of the water.

Like how most people get scare of svankmajer's films, i since knew them, and had seen his filmografy as much as could fine , had love, with all heart, its lore art.... Its grotesque expression ain't best but still, is pretty rich on passion and madness, kind of like David Firth or Crypt tv nowadays..mean its just awesome to see.
