This is an interesting story of Confederate counterfeiting. Sam Upham,who owned a store in Philadelphia, saw a picture of a CSA note in the Inquirer and was intrigued by it.He contacted the reporter, who actually used a CSA currency plate for the picture. Upham bought the plate off him and printed 3K counterfeit notes to try to disrupt the Confederacy's monetary system.Oddly enough,the National Banknote Co.,who printed CSA notes,was in NY,where most of Confederate plate engravers lived

Here I thought the current denomination was used since 1800s, but my grandparents grew up without any of it.

Think about getting A.. David Bowers book on the 1804 silver dollar, minted. in the 1830s because we made no silver dollars in 1804. It's a worldwide diplomatic mission which has global effects today Also Trade Dollars for Chinese trade. Chop marks are value enhancing. They used to reduce value. Just like Palladium was garbage and Pt. Was king and will be again.

SAL That $30.00 gold piece on the chart is a TYPE O . I can not find any gold piece made by the US Mint like that . Double Eagle or $20.00 .

cause the history pays way more than eagles right now and noone is charging a premiums on the key dates w/ auctions they use grey sheet good deals can still be found just got too look on ebay and not stack for weight but for rarity. i turned my auction purchases into more money by selling them ....when they started bitching about premiums and raised their prices i just chose morgan auctions instead of eagles which i got 10 green boxes in boxes paying an assload for its storage..................just know estate sales are rare if you find key dates makes that auction even rarer i ran too morgans i want pages of them buggers i laugh at the people crying about premiums don't you know this is just the beginning...Everyone should want national treasure in their portfolios it pays more than eagles so quit bitching about premiums buy a carson city!!!!!!!!!!!!!
