The History Of NBA 2K23 MyTEAM (Documentary) 

As somebody who just started playing MyTeam this year I had fun in spurts but my biggest gripe over anything was just simply a lack of things to do. Like sure I can play online aimlessly for hours but outside of the very rare event there wasn’t much to play for in a season after the first week.

Sucks to see DBG so sad after making these videos. I've watched 2k19-2k22 documentaries by DBG at least 4 times each. And from what i can tell he was always happy to deliver these documentaries to the communities. However this year he just looks so sad and drained. I can understand why he would take it so serious. I mean, its his job. Its obvious the developers stopped caring for this game for whatever reason.

Flashback to February 2024 and 2k23 looks like a masterpiece compared to 2k24

Hey man if it helps you at all I've probably commented on youtube videos a total of 5 times in my entire life and I just want you to know I'm commenting right now so you know how much the community enjoys your videos. I'm a completely average player who enjoys the myteam concept and I enjoy most sports. I rotate between Fifa/2k/MLB and I think the last myteam i did was 19 or 20. My friends and I are the types of people who rely on your content in order to maximize our time spent in order to remain any bit of competitive against those who can spend more time and money than us. Thank you for your effort and keep your chin up. Without the negatives there wouldn't be any positives so hopefully for everyone things will be much stronger next year in terms of 2k output into myteam. Best wishes DBG!

23 was completely catered to the "comp community" off rip, so it drove away the casual players, and the "comp" players were still not happy. When the devs realized all of the casuals had fled they reversed course and started to try to fix the game so they would come back, but they didn't come back, and the hardcore players were alienated by those decisions. Very quickly we had a game mode nobody liked.

Good video DBG. I played MyTeam religiously at the start of this year and I honestly thought it was decently done. Ended up getting Larry Bird trophy case card at the beginning of season 4 and literally never played MyTeam again after that. It was a grind but I wasn’t having fun anymore. 2k has so much potential with MyTeam if they just put more content or really even cared about the game. This year might’ve been the year that kills MyTeam as a whole and I’m debating buying 2k24 at all (I’ve been playing 2k every year since 2k7). It’s a sad thing to see

This year was the year I quit. Technically I quit right at the end of season 2, cause I only played limited in season 3 and half of season 4. I loved season 1, but in season 2 I couldn’t get into the game like the last 2k’s. unlike 2k21 and 2k22, where I loved playing the game mode all year, I felt burnt out after season 1. I don’t know why I played limited for Season 3 and halfway through season 4, I played Limited until it hit me that I never had fun on myteam after season 1. Every game I played made me so angry, and after I realized that, I came to the conclusion that I needed to quit this game, which was a shame. I loved grinding for Diamond D Mitch, doing the Chris Mullin and Kevin Love glitch, doing the JB glitch, and getting Level 40 Scottie Pippen in Season 1, I grinded this years season 1 the most out of all the season 1’s I played since 2k21, but afterwards the game just felt stale, I’m probably not alone too, it’s a shame what 2k did to myteam this year after how good 2k22 was 💔

I don’t think 2K23 was that bad of a game…but honestly kinda getting tired of 2K at this point especially MyTeam. Kinda over the mode where the only way to win is with tall players.

There needs to be a documentary on the rise and fall of nba2k myteam. I’ve been watching since 2k19 and love watching your videos even if the game is trash. Great video brother

Remember Era filters? One of the worst implementations of a concept I’ve ever seen in a video game. I called it eye strain mode. Thankfully 2K acknowledged how bad it was and patched it with an off toggle switch.

Wildest year for 2k ever, and for all the wrong reasons

That's how us PARK/REC/STAGE players feel bro ! One thing I've learnt since 2K19 No more emotion with this game anymore, that's why I'm so glad I've gone back to work because now its just a casual thing, The dream was streaming but this game has killed that dream of mine, This game will never improve at this stage of its existence its simply just a CASH GRAB ! And you want to know what's the saddest thing about this whole experience of your's and documenting it , Is that the DEVS wouldn't even drop a single tear.. They would most likely laugh and ban your accounts again just for the fun of it... They don't care they never have, Once 14-17 kicked off they knew this is going to be a retirement fund type game and the finessed so well man. It isn't going to change at all.

I’m a casual at the game and I literally stopped playing the game after season one because of the trophy case I only got one bc I had school and I didn’t start playing consistently until around April or May

For ME PERSONALLY this was a fun game. this was my first 2k and I started at the end of season 4 and I'm not competitive and love playing offline, man I also pray that 2k24 is good so we can get a lot of DBG content

as a man who started playing nba2k this year, it put quite a sour taste in my mouth. Yes, i was excited cause this was my first year, but half way through i kind of wanted to sell the game. I dont know (and understand) some things so it was very frustraiting for me to go against opal yao ming with my amethyst tacko fall. But at the end of the game (like season 7) i got VC for my birthday and started having fun again. Like its crazy to me how u need to spend money in this game just to be satisfied. edit : i forgot to mention this, but i went through some old troydan videos and found out yall got locker codes every pack drop. Now, it wasnt that often and i would be happy putting in codes for like 23 tokens.

I don’t think I’ve had more fun with the game then when stellar packs came out I got Ben and Scottie from packs for 40 k and then grinding for the kg spotlights that was just a lot of fun.

I’m with u DBG majority of the year we got packs drops as our only content. 2k gave up on the 2 k community big time this year and 2k24 going be the same.

5 things I want for 24 is .1 more levels than forty .2 better balance no pd Tim Thomas in October and opal Yao in January.3 better mode rewards all year and grinds 4 .a New game mode 5 don't start with pds start with Amy's and diamonds it ruins the balance make 2k good again

Myteam was so terribly bad, I stopped playing every other myteam when the next one came out, I quit this year in February🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

2k20/21, I didn’t play at all and 22/23 only lasted from September through December. Always used to be myteam only but definitely switching to park/rec from now on.

you gotta wonder as well what was happening behind the scenes at 2K the company itself? Also wanna say that 2k easily shot themselves in the butt and they could have made like 10x the money or more than that then they originally did on this game

My biggest issue is the short shelf life of the content. I completed the East Trophy Case but then ran out of ways to get the Centrepieces. Why are Centrepieces not an option in the HOF Badge Packs anymore? I can't pay 750 Tokens for the remaining ones I need (1500 Tokens was a joke) and I have no chance of completing the online components of the grind for Centrepieces. I don't care that the Cards are outdated I just want to complete it for my own entertainment. I don't play online so I don't care about keeping up with the best players. The Playoff challenges were there for less than one season and I would love to play through those in my own time. Some content is there forever and then other more interesting content is gone before I have a chance to play through it. I see no way I will be able to reach level 40 in Season 9 if the only way to earn XP is to buy Invincible and End Game cards. I will not be buying 2K24 because I am done with the frustration of the gameplay that literally changes animations to make you miss and the machine score. Higher difficulty just seems to make your players dumber with unnecessary double teams, horrible cuts when you pass up court and don't get me started on the number of illegal screens the machine sets for you. CPU Players defy gravity by jumping and landing again before you can even move, every Superstar difficulty game I play I get killed by offensive rebounds. Appreciate all the time you put into the videos and as a long time fan of a similar age I just wish MyTeam was more of a celebration of players and teams through the years than a cash grabbing pay to be competitive grind.

2k is all about balance. It’s more fun to play my team later in the year because it’s so damn easy to catch up like literally takes an hour to build a god squad in March. So I just play my career and franchise & play now until March comes.

Great summary. 1st time in my life being banned on a video game like some grade school suspension so screw 2k24... done with My Team.

For new myteam players this year may not seem so bad but coming from 2k22, 21, 20, and 19 man this year is horrible. It's definitely like they went out there way to make sure this year was trash.

This 2k is the first one I really liked to play myteam but it was way easier to grind my career to get VC to afford the good cards

RNG odds this year were the worst I’ve ever seen….I must’ve won 400-500 games of clutch time and never got a player from the wheel….SMH

60 for the game, 60 for Kareem and you get TT, 60 for GO PG, 60 for someone else, 60 for Wemby ... adding it up to 8 times 60 is 480 USD on the minimum. It sounds like a bad deal. Get NBA 2k24 for 500 USD. Will you buy it? I get it, it`s not gambling, but it is a bad deal for the player.

2k23 Myteam was a disaster, agree. Everything focused on earning money from the players while trying their best to save costs on constant content or updates. Very unrewarding mode to play, shame 2k

The reason why this game sucked and it was worst then 2k22 is cause in 2k22 they cared a lot more. This year they just released some dumb shit and took a break for a week

if you play a game for an entire year and you´re depressed while playing the game, my advice, stop playing the game and play something else. Don´t forget it´s still just a game. I started playing 2k23 in june with season 7 and I liked it very much. I had fun in collecting all cards. Now I miss just 6 End Game cards to complete the collection. No money spent.
