I was born in & lived 18 years in Inglewood, Ca--Graduated Inglewood, High School in 1972--I drove by Randy's Donuts thousands of times--Always thought of it as an out of date 1950's remnant. Thank you for the history lesson that I needed in 1970's.

This is such a great episode! I’ve always thought the donut shop on Normandie and Century looked similar to Randy’s-but this puts it all into perspective! And you got me with the Gardena location update 😂😂😂

Thanks man!! Hahaha, had to throw that joke in there for Gardena. Seriously, though, couldn’t find a Donut King I 😂

Great video! I've been collecting info on the Big Donuts for decades, including interviewing Russ Wendell's great nephew, Randy Eskow, the Weintraubs, and the families of the Stearns brothers who partnered with Wendell and ran the stores for him. Not only do you have the basic facts correct, a lot of the clippings you show are new to me. Did you find them online? Very impressed. I may have been the guy who got Chris Nicols wondering about that "Since 62" claim. I do recall emailing him with that question. The prize of my collection is a digital transfer of the Stearns brothers' original 16mm film footage of the North Hollywood location under construction and the grand opening, along with the grand opening of the Reseda location. Looking forward to your second video on the Big Donuts!

Wow, thank you, huge compliment coming from you!! Yes, I did find the clippings online using Newspapers.com, most of them came from The Southwest Wave, but also a few from The Evening Guard and The Van Nuys News. Would love to see that 16mm, that sounds like amazing footage!

No wonder I noticed a Randy's Donuts on Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa recently. I hadn't been down that stretch in a while. What's the name of that giant donut shop in Long Beach by 7th and Bellflower? I forget, a co-worker of mine owned the house right next door to it.

I think it was called The Daily Grind? They turned it into a Dunkin’, but they kept the giant donut

Not to split hairs here BUT...shouldn't "World Famous Randy's Donuts" be celebrating it's 48th year in operation since the name was changed in 1976 and arguably the "World Famous" part has come from the the fact it's called "Randys?" Just saying...LOL. Great work as always Javier :)

That's a good point!! LOL Thank you Jesse, always trying to get better with every video! I have a bonus one coming where I hit up all the remaining Big Do-Nut locations and give a little history/facts on each one and eat donuts at each one.

I don't know if anybody has mentioned this but Pup n Taco was purchased by Taco Bell.

Yes, you’re absolutely correct! Wendell did pretty good for himself with that sale

Too bad about Taco Bell. They seem to be on the down slide. I really miss Pup 'N Taco, there's nothing like a mustard dog with a cherry, lime or pineapple slush.
