Informative video. Thank you. I'm 62. I had a brief intro into the electric RCs in the early to mid-1980s. Recently rediscovered them with a RTR Traxxas Rustler 4X4 and a TRX4-Sport. If the military doesn't first use their RC UAV predator drones to extinguish all life on this planet I see a bright and profitable future for RC hobbies.

I still remember the first time I saw a rc race as a kid in the 80s. I was hooked after that , I remember being in the hobby shop drooling over the Tamiya bruiser . My first hobby grade car was a used Rc10 . I used all futaba electronics and always sucked when some one was on your channel. Kids these days will not remember having to carry a bunch of Am and FM freq crystals In your rc box. Lol

Yeah i was out of the RC loop for the past 20 years and recently got back into it. Wow has the RC tech changed dramatically. I'm trying to catch up. I was using 1500 mah packs. Lipo seems kick ass. Brush less motors, etc.

@@justrelax3323 Hehe. I got back into around the middle of 2018, after not having an RC since being a kid. Now I have two big block Xmaxx trucks and one Outcast 8s big block truck that shred the grass and dirt doing 50+MPH and jumping 20+ ft into the air. People can't believe it when I do it 🤣

I started rc racing in the mid 80’s at my local track. I had a frog. Most of the guys had Tamiya cars back then. I raced all the way until brushless came out. I think I raced professionally until 01. I was only racing Nitro 1/8 and 10th on road in the summer months and off-road in the winter months.

Shout out to RU-vid for bringing this hobby together as well. Been into RC since a kid, of cause. Now I'm 50. Sure, I've not constantly had a RC controller in my hand but it's one of my go-to hobbies. Couldn't make the right decisions on purchases, problem solve or just see what other people are doing without RU-vid.

Loved RC racing . In 95 i took 1st place in the Coca Cola challenge in Buffalo NY. It was a huge race back then . I ran my heavily modified JRXT 2wd stadium truck. That was my most prestigious win in my trophy room. You could travel all over if you were competitive enough.

Nice video! I still remember seeing that stampede in a folder in the 90's. For me it started early 00's. With a hpi savage 25. Everyone had one or those large fg marders. Later on i started 1/10 rc drifting. Way back in 2005. Crazy how fast that evolved and gained popularity over the years. From grabbing any 4wd on road chassis you could find (yes even nitro) and putting it on home made tires to purpose build carbon brushless drift machines. Did alot of competition driving till about 2013. Those battles were intense! Quick changes in the rules and my interest in real cars made me decide to stop. Still have everything though, even the savage that started it all for me!

I used to be big into that. In 1983 I bought an Team Associated RC500 (a 1/8 scale nitro car) along with two friends and then we met more people into it and formed a club. So in the 80's we were racing them in a circuit with two other clubs. We always had to clean the parking lot surface and lay down all this lumber to form a track. We had a trailer to store it in and used the top of it for a driver's stand. We sure spent plenty of money and had a lot of fun. I remember too after one of our club members (a Team Associated driver) won the world championship in 1987 that was the end of the RC500 for some reason. Then we went and bought Serpent Excels or BMT's. I got the Serpent. Both these cars were way better than the RC500. Anyway, that was the "heyday" of this hobby too. That's when new technologies were constantly coming out. Full suspension had just come out on the RC500 when we got them. Then there were 2-speeds, quick change rear wheels, more rubber compounds. More powerful engines and better tuned pipes. Also we went from the Futaba "box" radio to the pistol grip. Computerized lap counting too. All this was when I lived on Long Island, NY.

I really enjoyed the video since I've been into RC since the 80's. I just want to give some feedback. I think it was a little bit too US centric not mentioning any brands outside the states. I also think you missed one very important part of the resurgence of electric and that is LiPo and brushless motors. You mentioned new Radios like 2,4GHz but this is a much bigger game changer for the industry. Thanks for doing the video and keep up the great work! Would love to see a 2.0... 😉

I often wondered what happened to Brian. He was the guy to beat in the late 90s. Perhaps we also need honourable mentions of Cliff Lett, Kevin Moore and Jürgen Lautenbach. And add that Gil Losi Sr started the Variflex skating/rollerblade company before Team Losi came about.

Don’t know what happened to nitro 1/10 Stadium Truck, but it was really fun to drive. The hobby is not as popular as it was back in the my day. We would have 30-60 cars in one class. Now they can’t even fill a full a main. The cost of everything killed the sport for budget racers who were still competitive. Now it cost 1k for just a simple electric buggy with all its electronics. We would buy the top of the line buggy for 300 with everything 20 years ago

I had the JrxPro. It was unbeatable, on a budget.

I LOVE RC brother and this video was just great. I'm in so cal and rc is basically underground here. My buddy and I go to skateparks to bash to get folks attention and then we tell them about the hobby. The one thing that is preventing most ave folks to be able to own an rc is the high costs of the rc and the electronica involved. The racers are finicky and think they're the best son far as to offend a regular basher. I came from bashing but can drive. I don't like that that dynamic exists within the rc world. The "dumb" bashers fuel the economy of the sport. If it weren't for bashers, no one would be racing any rc cuz the companies simply wont make enough revenue.

Not in my day. All the best tracks and hobby shops were in LA/Orange County . Went to OC at least once or twice a week to race and buy parts/cars. Saw and raced with rc pioneers every week. Met Masami Hirosaka,10 time ifmar wc, got him autograph on my yokomo YRX10. I paid $400 used, hard to get yokomo cars , especially that one, burned in fire.

That was amazing brought back a lot of memories. It would be cool to see a history of crawlers/trail trucks because that was such a monumental change of growth in the industry, literally doubling it. Like subbed and sharing. THANKS!

Cool video 😎 my first RC car had a wire attached to it 🙈 must’ve been about 1981. First wireless one was a Baja Bouncer pick-up like big foot 😀 loved it ❤️ got a real one now 👍

Cox Tether cars were popular in the 60s and 70s. I had a cox that was a 57 Chevy , I got from toys r us . My dad set it up for us it was cool to watch it circle the parking lot.

Awesome video. I had a lot of those cars and more. Lost 25+ cars including 1/8 serpent ,in a fire. Raced on & off road, gas & electric, in the late 90s all over la/oc with some of the some sponsor drivers. Once took of work early to ranch pit to buy the short wheel base chassis for my xx buggy. Had a chance to race in the ifma on road worlds at revelation raceway didnt. Miss those days.
