I had never played Super Turbo back then. The closest I had played was Hyper SF2 on the 15th anniversary edition, when it was on Original Xbox. First time playing Super Turbo, was HD Remix on Xbox 360. And now, thanks to SF 30th Anniversary Collection, I got my chance to play Super Turbo, again.

So, when most people (even many competitive players when they , since akuma is banned) see the vets choose akuma, they say, how can you enter that code so quickly? Actually you don't need to stay for 3 seconds on the character. it's more like 1 second (60 frames). if you do 3 seconds it actually makes the code really difficult since you may run out of time before you finish the code. Also, Juggles ("air combos") are weird, none of the examples in the video were actually juggles. In ST, it's kind of weird, only specific moves and normals can juggle. and you can only get 3 hits unless you include a super... And for shits and giggles I tested the dos version to see how accurate it was... and it actually was super accurate, I ended up testing obscure competitive glitches and interactions... but yeah, the shorter distance makes the game unplayable competitively... but i was absolutely shocked and surprised though. Finally, if judged for competitive merits, the dreamcast version is still the best home console port all these years later, with many people believing, only the dreamcast and arcade versions being acceptible. (although is not a majority consensus in the community.)

Only drawback to the DreamCast version was that they shrunk the characters sizes down, their like SNES size. Try gargling with Listerine for the soar throat it will take care of it if it's Covid related. Nice job with the Ryu pronunciation btw 🎩

I remember getting a snes and street fighter 2 world warrior and was so disappointed not having the bosses especially vega and then turbo came out and my world was complete, even to the day I’m hammering SF5, great video

I've bought so many versions of SF2 over the years, it's insane. My favourite version was definitely Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix for the Xbox 360. I wish they'd make it available on the One/Series X as I really miss the online play.

I remember those so-called 'Reviewers' back in the late 90s... One of them was Gamepro, who did say the SF Collection wasn't worth playing except for the SF Alpha 2 Gold disc; which was an enhanced version of the game with Xmen vs SF Cammy added a bonus! To them I say balderdash as many of us didn't have a playable copy of SSF2T and was glad to get it on a PS or SS, since N64 would never get a 2D Fighter!

Remember it was the Super NES and Sega Genesis versions of Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers that were responsible for Capcom's creation of this game. When Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers were released for the arcade, many arcade players were disappointed that the game return back to the slow pace gameplay of World Warrior. When the game got ported to Super NES and Sega Genesis, Turbo options were brought back along with more modes of play. Disappointed that only the home versions got the Turbo options arcade players were sending complain letters to Capcom and thus they created Super Street Fighter II Turbo as a response.

I love Street Fighter 2, Champion Edition, and Turbo Hyper Fighting. I play an early firmware version of Street Fighter 2 at a local arcade that I work at and you can notice how early that arcade board was produced because it's got the Guile glitches that were removed with later firmware revisions. I don't like fighting games but I love Street Fighter 2 because of it being a chess game in the form of a fighting game. It's also got great graphics, great art style, and great music. I also really like Guile's stage in Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition and Turbo Hyper Fighting.

18:10 "Standard 3DO controllers feature fewer buttons than is ideally needed to enjoy Street Fighter" No, the standard 3DO controller had 7 buttons, just not laid out in an ideal way to play Street Fighter. The 6 button-controller produced by Capcom didn't ADD any new buttons, like how the Mega Drive/Genesis had both a 3-button and 6-button controller. It just rearranged the buttons to be easier to play Street Fighter, and added a 2nd "P" button.

I found a barcade in Dallas Texas that has a Rainbow Edition cabinet. I think it was the Cidercade. It's pretty wild.

Ultra SF II on the Switch is so much fun and the balanced difficulty allows you to enjoy playing against the CPU/AI. I don’t see many in the FGC appreciating it or ever playing it. It may have been better for it to had eventually been ported to PS4, PC, and XBOX consoles.

There's also Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Revival on GBA, that game had Akuma with his Raging Demon super move, something the versions before that couldn't do.

Seems to be a regular thing having FM TOWNS game sound tracks taken from it and put elsewhere. Check after burner OST on FM TOWNS for Afterburner 3 on mega cd as an example.

The arcade perfect versions are all collected into the 30th anniversary now. So it's easier for PC players to get to play this.

There was a time when that's ALL EVERYONE EVER did. Everyone was playing Street Fighter II, ALL versions of it. Why? I guess because it was the early 1990's

The 3DO version is certainly the best home console port (due to its awesome soundtrack)...just make sure you play it with a couple of those Capcom Soldier gamepads.

I remember reading the IGN article and the article read you must play the entire game without continues and not lose a single round and shelong will pop out from the background beat up Dictator(Bison) and he will fight you(which capcom copied for Akuma on a later version of the game). I don’t want to say anything negative about SSF2 since I did enjoy the game at the time and the inclusion of hidden boss Akuma. I just have to say Capcom became champion on how many time you can release the same exact game with minimal effort between versions and still cash in on one game 😂

super turbo & 3d strike are not only two of capcom's finest, those are two of the best fighting games ever made. yeah, 3d strike is deeper & more technical; but no version of street fighter is more fun than sf2.

True. However after nearly 3 decades of frustration and finally getting SSF2T. It was a kind of a letdown. They skipped nintendo 64 and nintendo GameCube and even the wii and with u.Nintendo being the one that blocked mortal kombat 's full potential on the SNES, did the opposite for its next 3 consoles.

I think it's the shoryuken that's fully invincible, not the hadoken? If the hadokens had invincibility, there would be no need to pick the super version because it would be broken.

Balrog is terrible in the earlier iterations of SF2, but is god in SSF2T. Best super, best grab and can charge so many moves that it's like getting hit by a wrecking ball. Even if you try to block and back off. He'll eventually corner you and do his grab. If it wasn't for Akuma's air fireball he could probably beat him.

I remember in 1987 I played Street Fighter in the arcade, it had 2 huge pads nearly broke my wrist playing the game. Then in 1991 Street Fighter 2 came out in the arcades, it was a much better game but I do prefer Champion edition over The World Warrior.

The dreamcast version is the best port, the versions on saturn, PS1 and 3D0 are tame, the difficulties on these ports (even on the highest settings) have been severely reduced

They've succesfully done SFalpha 2 so Super Turbo would ran easily on SNES. Certainly some money deal...🤨 Fortunatly we have Ultra 2 on Switch now.

True, but SFA2 lost quite a bit compared to the other versions. You can't select the "Champion Edition" style versions of the SF2 specific peeps, Evil Ryu is completely gone, there's frames of animation cut all over the place (moreso than even the PSone version, so animations tend to be pretty jank especially at turbo speed settings), and there's five second load times almost everywhere (enough that it'd make Megaman X2 & X3 blush). That said, I strongly doubt that SSF2T would've had all those issues, since it's just a few extra animations for new moves, the shadows for supers, the starburst for a super finish, and the inclusion of Akuma. If anything, they'd even include a much simpler "play as Akuma" code like the PSone & Saturn have, but, as the default method, replacing the original code.

The Switch had like 7 different versions of Street Fighter II right now so there's really no reason to go back to any of the old ones: Street Fighter II - World Warrior (via SF 30th Anniversary Collection and Capcom Arcade Stadium) Street Fighter II - Champion Edition (via SF 30th Anniversary Collection) Street Fighter II - Hyper Fighting (via SF 30th Anniversary Collection and Capcom Arcade Stadium) Super Street Fighter II - The New Challengers (via SF 30th Anniversary Collection) Super Street Fighter II - Turbo (via SF 30th Anniversary Collection and Capcom Arcade Stadium) Hyper Street Fighter II - Anniversary Edition (via the upcoming Capcom Fighting Collection) Ultra Street Fighter II - The Final Challengers (standalone)
