It is important to note though that the SOE did a lot to influence special operations as well. The OSS and the SOE really did set Europe ablaze as Churchill wanted them to

True! I only mention them briefly because of the focus on OSS and CIA.

@@the-spy-network Of course and it’s a great video!! If you could it would be great if you could do a video about both Section D and SOE

Another good video… I’ve never heard of the State Department’s INR! Time to do some research! Donovan is a personal hero of mine for his lifelong service to the US. A big part of him not being the first head of the CIA was unfortunately politics. He was too outspoken of a republican and he rubbed quite a few people the wrong way… notably FBI’s Hoover and General MacArthur.

Thank you! Appreciate it. Fact is there are many more of these departments I didn't know existed. So much more to cover 😁🕵️‍♂️

That the OSS with Donovan at the helm, should never have been disbanded in the first place! Yet, about the only thing the Army and Navy have ever agreed on was their dislike and jealousy of the OSS and the closeness of Donovan’s access to the White House. When FDR died, they took advantage of Truman’s ignorance and attacked the OSS and Donovan. By ‘47 Trumanhad realized what had happened and the CIA was born-with military Directors at the beginning but transitioning to Ex OSS men to lead the agency.

Interesting history! The chain of continuity and continuing shift in focus to address the current world situation is fascinating. It would be interesting to be a "fly on the wall" listening to how Ukraine and the current Middle East situation are driving future changes.
@the-spy-network

That would be interesting indeed. Especially given the fact the world seems to be constantly at war, with the US and NATO being it in proxy mostly.

So whatever the OSS did in ww2, was directly incorporated in cold war. Its like as if a playbook was followed during the cold war, compare things like supporting resistance groups by providing arms and money, guerilla fighting, psychological warfare, well utilization of special operators These were followed in the coups of Latin American countries, middle east, south east Asia(Vietnam - macv sog, Cambodia, laos) Suggestion: Make a video on psychological warfare during ww2, and it's evolution throughout Vietnam, and most of cold war and till recent times of war on terror

It really laid the groundwork indeed, that's why this part of history is so monumental in everything SOF that came after it. Very good suggestion! I will definitely invest time in that, thank you.

Thank GOD ( Father,Son, Holy Spirit) for the Brigadier General William J. Donovan ( US Army) - created Office of Strategic Services ( OSS), that, here and now, the Central Intelligence Agency ( CIA ) and US Army Special Forces, the elite, famed and vaunted " Grern Berets", exist , because of Battlefield Badasses such as OSS, 1st Special Service Force, 5307th Composite Unit( " Merrill's Marauders") , Marine Raiders and Para Marines, Alamo Scouts, 1st- 6th Ranger Battalions and the Underwater Demolition Teams ( UDTs). On the CIA side, We have the Special Activities Center( SAC) , where Tertia Optio meets De Opresso Liber. BRAVO ZULU THE_ SPY_NETWORK !!🇺🇲🇺🇸🪖💣💥🔥🪂🤿🕵️🛰️📡
