Thanks for this: it is so well done! At that time I was inside the Bugatti Team, Romano Artioli was My Boss an I know Miss Elisa. For me it is so pleasant to follow you in the Elise history.
Thanks, Vittorio. I'm glad you liked the video. It must have been amazing to be a part of the Bugatti Team in the 1990s, the EB110 is one of my all time favourite cars. And it must be great to know Miss Elisa too! Thanks again for watching.
What a wonderful video. Having just bought an S1 Elise this is without doubt the single most impressive video I have found on the car to date. Many thanks for all your efforts in creating this.
Thank-you Richard for you kind words. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video, and congratulations on buying such an excellent car. No doubt you'll have a fantastic time with it.
Great documentary. After end of Elise's production last year. You should make an another video which includes Elise S2/S3 and Exige series. Which all deserves such a documentary either.
In a time when any ol' car video with awful production values can gather massive audience, props to you for taking the time and care to prepare such presentation. It looks like a massive effort both when it comes to research and editing. Also extremely enjoyable. You sir have my adoration, subscribed.
Thank-you, I'm really glad you liked it, and thanks for letting me know about the airbags. For some reason I had it stuck in my head that they were added really late into production. I'm going to make a note in the video's description to amend it.
Are you called Brave Dave as a result of owning an S1 for ten years? For those of us contemplating ownership, how would you characterise your period of ownership?
@@VincentComet-l8e Haha yep I think anyone who owns a Lotus is brave :) I've been meaning to do a 10-year ownership experience overview video... but in a nutshell, absolutely wonderful. It's been an inexpensive venture, and having the car double in value certainly helps! I've learned a lot, have met some fantastic people, and most of all have had the privilege to put smiles on people's faces! Unfortunately the next chapter will be rebuilding the top half of the engine due to recently breaking some valves... :( It happened after the ten year mark tho lol
Brilliant video! Thank you very much. A great collection of information and certainly all correct and well investigated. Of course airbags were introduced. In 2005 or 6 though ;-) and of course on the Tesla and the Opel Speedster right from the start of their production. Anyway: Brilliant job. Thanks again!
This is absolutely amazing; as someone who worked for a Lotus dealer when I was "the boy" Literally nothing touches this amazing, brilliant car - love it to bits 🥲
What an amazing video. Thank you. I’m looking to learn more about the Elise S1 type 49. As far as I can tell it used MMC brakes and the 118 bhp non Vtec K.
Excellent video. An Elise S1 is a car I regret not buying. I was amazed by it at a motorshow when it was released. A couple of years later I put a deposit down and my name on the list. But when it came time to agree my exact spec I was, amazingly, offered the limited edition 50th anniversary model instead. Foolishly I withdrew as I needed a larger car by then. I regret it to this day and am hoping to correct it tbis year by buying an S1 or S2 as a weeken toy. I even visited Hethel where I saw the 340R prototype being shown off in their reception.
Thank-you, I'll be doing a few other cars from other manufacturers first, however I certainly will be returning to Lotus in the hopefully not so distant future, and the Exige S1 will definitely be on the agenda when I do.
It will be 25 years old in 2021 and therefore LEGAL TO IMPORT INTO THE USA and I will track one down. Loved this car since 1999 when I drove it in Gran Turismo 2. Hope it's not too expensive...If it's over $15-20k USD then I'll just get a '97 SW20 MR2 GT-S.
I see S1 111 selling now for close to original price. Buy one now from someone like me that’s had the car a long time and all bugs will have been fixed and many parts upgraded and replaced.
You need to do some research on the mg F... You posted a picture of an mg TF and you picked the 0-60 time of the slowest model an mg F with a vvc 145ps engine will do it in under 7 seconds a trophy in even less as it's 160 and better tyres suspension etc
Honda s2000 does weigh a bit more than the k series 1.8 but it is double the power so its power to weight ratio shits on the 1.8 k series. Also Lotus tried to get Honda engines in the elise but the cost was too high for them.
I wouldnt mind a honda elise, but the standard k series is much lighter and more usable. 190hp isn't hard to get out of them either. Suits the car very well.
