Nobody can understand what it was like to stand in the middle of all those lights unless you were there. Videos and pictures really give it no justice. It was overwhelming. It's truly something I'll miss, and I actually makes me pretty sentimental.

Jack11 I haven’t been to SDC but have been to Dollywood’s Christmas and it can give you an idea but it was nowhere near the scale and full immersion you got with Osborne. With them all being in one spot at Disney you were completely surrounded by lights.

@@Ashyri I would have felt the same way - because weren't they still popular about then? Why wouldn't it be about Ozzy and Sharon et al? Lol I am so glad I am not the only one though. I watched this for about 5 minutes before realizing that at no point was Ozzy showing up - I really thought "oh, Sharon probably saw this and wanted to install something similar at her house...." Now I'm sad I will never see them at all! Does Sharon know about this? She is known for doing incredibly expensive things on the spur of the moment, right? Jack? Kelly? The other sister? Are you out there watching?

I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas and I remember visiting his neighborhood every year when I was a kid. Driving by his house at Christmas to see the lights was basically tradition! My family gradually grew out of this tradition as my brother and I got older. Interesting to see where this went afterwards! Super nostalgic

I had no idea on the history behind the light show. I have only seen the light show on RU-vid and not in person. It’s amazing how Disney is good at completely removing and forgetting some old attractions, or in this case events, since though I hadn’t gone to WDW at Christmas until 2017, I had no idea Hollywood studios had a light show/ large event like magic kingdom or Epcot, shame I never saw this in real life, looked like an amazing spectacle that would’ve made some fond memories, especially since it puts universals set decorations to shame

I was actually doing my College Program during the last season of the light display. Not only was it the last year of the lights but I was stationed at Pizza Planet so it felt like I was part of the ending of two locations for Studios. For anyone wondering the system they used from 2011 and on was a light o Rama system you could see some of the controllers if you knew where to look (You could see a lot of the pixel controllers for the canopy) The crew for the lights consisted of 30 people who worked overnight from August to November They don’t even know the exact number of lights. They know it’s over 5 million but they said they have just added and added but haven’t taken the time to actually count. The court documents regarding the lawsuit can be found online and state the exact numbers of lights that were on display at the original house in Little Rock The types of lights in the display are known as 5mm conical LEDs and are pretty much as bright as it gets for Christmas lights. I can say from experience that these will outshine everyone in your neighborhood.

Why is the Nativity scene in the Italy Pavilion? Because there is no Israel Pavilion. If there were one, the Nativity scene would've been situated there. Other grounds is that Italy is a biblical country, where Paul the Apostle has been to based on the New Testament. The Christmas story is about the birth of Jesus, which is in the New Testament.

Its not like he was making any money off of them when he was hanging them up at this house. They were likely costing him a lot more just due to the amount of electricity he was using, along with the cost of hanging them all up. If his goal was to make money, he could have probably bought a piece of land, built a road through it and charged for admission to go through and see the lights.
