The Worgen Curse did not actually originate in Gilneas...
Welcome to AutumnGames' World of Warcraft Lore Corner. This video dives into the origins and history of the worgen curse; How it came to be and how it made its way to Gilneas. The story goes back to the Kaldorei and the War of the Ancients, way before Cataclysm and the fall of Gilneas.
The tale can be read in depth in the official WoW miniseries “Curse of the Worgen”. I have put a link to the books in the description below, if you’re interested in reading more about the curse.
