Grew up in NJ. We still have Mischief Night. It wasn’t until I moved out of NJ that I realized it wasn’t a common thing throughout the rest of America. 😂
To add to the cyanide story, iirc, the dad had taken his kid(s) and a neighbor kid/friend out trick or treating to have less suspicion on him. The extra kid didn’t eat their candy right away because it was hard to get the staples out of the opening, so it was able to be tested after news had come out
So mad I was actually just wondering where trick or treating came from the other night! I'm Irish so obviously I know about Samhain but I'm interested to learn about this specifically!🎃 Also fun fact in Ireland it's traditional to carve turnips rather than pumpkins
