Oh hey so fun fact I MADE some of the songs you hear in the background! If you wanna check some of them out then you can find them on my Bandcamp! marshalkeep.bandcamp.com/album/marshals-lo-fi-mixtape
hey man, the polish of this video is INSANE. you even show the artist+name of the songs playing in the background? damn. i love this direction youre going in, the video essay style works very well for you absolute 10/10 i cant wait to see more!
25 straight minutes of Marshal talking about my fond memories of a better time of my life when Vine was a thing? Now that's what I call a birthday gift
OK CAN I JUST POINT OUT AT THE END OF THE MONTAGE WHEN JIMMYHERE SCREAMS AFTER SAYING ITS WEDNESDAY MY DUDES UP TO THE HIGH D AND THE ENDING CHORD FOR THE MONTAGE MUSIC IS A D MARSHAL I KNOW THAT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE
I’m so happy to see someone actually revisiting Vine’s history. One thing I wish you mentioned though was the moment when uploads from Camera Roll were enabled and meme edits suddenly flooded the platform. I like to think a lot of the meme edits in the style we see them today originated thanks to Vine, being some creators would find a workaround to upload videos before the app allowed only the camera feature. Once more and more people figured out the exploit, Vine kind of caved in and allowed proper uploads. I remember when a Vine stayed on the Trending page for nearly a day, all of these “meme edit” profiles (including myself at the time) rushed to make as many edits as possible. It set up this lazy precedent for profiles to just find about 10 copy/paste meme formats to blend with trending Vines and just constantly churn out content-and it wouldn’t have been such a big deal if the numbers didn’t promote that type of content. It would be cool to see someone do some sort of breakdown on that type of style
dude the editing and commentary (and even singing!) on this video is on par with the bigger channels that usually get millions of views. hope this video can get the same amount of attention.
I can attest to the lazy part, the only reason i do not use the imgur app and prefer the mobile site is because the site requires around 50% less scrolling than the app for getting from post to post
Marashall, i feel like you're going to be the next up and coming popular youtuber. You're the most relatable youtuber ive ever watched, because your inspirations taken from people like jacksfilms and gamegrumps and other youtubers ive grown up with are clear.
More people should include song names in the bottom! Really great and destroys the "Look into the comments / describtion for the track at ##:##" things that everyone else does. I really enjoy your overall editing style! Thank you!
I think we all hated vine at least a little bit while it existed. Now we miss the good ol' days. Guess what'll happen to TerkTork. Also sea shanties came back because of Sea of Thieves.
My favorite musician started on Vine, then was rejected by The Voice. *now he is the single largest musician in his genre with a video with almost 400 million views*
I liked this video, but I felt that it was more about some people that were on vine rather than the progression of vine itself. I know that with this subject it's really hard to find information on it, but just keep this in mind for future videos of this sort
"You just keep scrolling the endless feed until your brain leaks out your ears and your very being has been consumed by Thomas Sanders" I laughed WAY too hard at that
I also hated vine, people around me pushed me to just watch vines/vine comps, and I only started watching them like 3-4 months before it ended. I hate tiktok, and people around me are trying to push me to join it/watch compilations. I don't think they actually want me to do that.
Actually thinking about it, I often just don't get or actively avoid things until like right before they end. Obviously I'm not causing things to end, but I think it's that some part of me is just tuned in enough to what's currently popular that my subconscious is like, "Hey, this isn't doing to be around much longer, get on it before it's a dead topic"
@@MarshalDoesStuff but man, after finishing the video, i LOVE this new style, i find myself agreeing with you on almost everything you say, keep this up, really love it!
I never used Vine, but I believe what made it so good was the super short time limit, no one can make anything that sounds very serious in 6 seconds, which I guess didn't leave room for drama, bullying, or too weird stuff to exist; you only had 6 seconds to make something interesting, so it either had to be a short punchline or something in reference to an event happening outside of Vine. as a result, most of the content on here would just be light-hearted and humoristic doesn't mean that short = good tho, for example most of what's popular or/and controversial on tiwtter is just shitty short hot takes about everything
