Yes..!

You can love what you love. But the movies are mediocre at best. Especially compared to it´s predecessor. It has the $30 000 000 shine and production values, but half these moviies make me cringe or are redundant. It´s a 300 page YA novel spread out over 3, 3.5 hour movies. And it shows.

The second and third movies were okay, but the first movie was one of the most magical cinema experiences I’ve had in my life. Even hearing the themes causes something inside me just to light up with wonder and passion and courage.

But always he remembered, the mountain smoke beneath the moon the trees like torches blazing bright for he had seen dragon fire in the skies and a city turned to ash. and he never forgave and he never forgot. hows that for memory?

you know, actually some sort of story about what dwarves did after The Hobbit would have quite some good times, although I'm reluctant to want them try it, after they somewhat fucked up The Hobbit, while not a total fuck up, but many times from the movies were a real nope, and it pretty much got saved by dwarves being dwarves. First we'd have the start -rebuilding Erebor-, and the failed expedition to Moria, I bet my ass I'd cry on that, if filmed. Second we'd have orcs invading the Iron Hills again, with the emmissaries of Mordor asking for information about certain Baggins. And while men fought at Helm's Deep, Osigiliath, Minas Tirith and the Black Gates, dwarves were also fighting, against a massive invasion of men of the East,and other servants of Sauron at the gates of Erebor and Dale. We coul even have an epilogue with the actions of Gimli after the defeat of Sauron, aka, trasnforming the caves on Helms Deep into a new dwarf settlement, and retaking Moria with the help of elves and humans.

In the books they actually mentiond that the dwarves rebuilt their homes and got themselves a new king. (I think the one riding on that pig like creature in the movie.)

In the books, Erebor was rebuilt and ruled by Dain II Ironfoot. 5 Years after Balin's expedition on Moria (which is failed) a messenger from Mordor asked for "Shire and Baggins". Dain did not gave answers but send Gloin and Gimli to Elrond's Council to tell what's going on in Erebor (Bilbo asks for the company if you want to know) After the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, a big army from Dol-Guldur, led by Khamul the Easterling, most powerful Nazgul after the Witch-King, attacked Lothlorien three times and attacked Mirkwood (Battle Under the Trees) Lorien could not be invaded and all of the three attacks were a failure, trees in Mirkwood were burnt by the host of Dol-Guldur but they failed because a massive army from Rhun was blocked by the forces of Iron Hills, Dale and Erebor. The Battle was named Battle of Dale and it was the second great war in the Third Age (First great war was the Battle of Pelennor Fields). King Dain and King Brand of Dale (grandson of Bard the Bowman) were slain at the gates of Erebor and dwarves pulled back to Erebor. After Sauron was defeated, Easterling army retreated. Thorin III Stonehelm (Son of Dain II) led the dwarves and attacked the Easterlings and the battle was won. After then, we don't know what happened to Erebor.

There are many Dwarf realms and all of them are quite big so I'm not sure what you mean.

Whole North of middle Earth + Misty mountains pretty much belongs to Dwarfs. Also Dwarfs were common on Rhunic lands. Also Dwarfs actually settled in caves of helms deep soon after fall of Mordor :D
