Trivia: Allan Clarke married Jennifer Bowstead on 24 March 1964 in Coventry.. The Hollies' song title "Jennifer Eccles" was a combination of the names of Clarke's wife and Graham Nash's then-wife, Rose Eccles.
@Steve14ps exactly. As the decades have passed by Graham has stated again and again this type of song, which The Hollies had developed a winning formula for, went against the direction he wanted to take the band in. The rest of the band and the record company vetoed him, which stemmed from the failure of his song 'King Midas in Reverse' in the charts and with the public. Had Graham had his way, the band would have expanded beyond the Butterfly album and never recorded the Bob Dylan Tribute album. He didn't get his way. Once Mama Cass introduced him to David Crosby in Laurel Canyon, and then Stephen Stills, the writing was soon on the wall for he and The Hollies. He was gone from the band in 1968.
