Fantastic performance! Shelly, you were so adorable!! SO YOUNG!! Oh my! I remember listening to this song all summer long at our family cottage in Muskoka, Canada in 1971. I was 16. I went to bed every night with my favorite companion,..my G.E. Transistor Radio!! On a clear night I could pull in CKLW radio in Detroit/Windsor. Such happy memories! Thanks for being such a big part of it! :)

Trivia. Shelly Clark was considered to replace Jean Terrell in The Supremes by Mary Wilson. She turned it down. In came Scherrie Payne.

No, the single sold two million, and they only had two gold singles (this and "Stick-Up"), the only metal they got as a group. The royalties must have been hard to come by, since H-D-H had trouble getting paid by their distributors (rumor has it Berry Gordy had to do with this), so the group broke up and went back to the lucrative business of back-up singing. Edna married their producer, Greg Perry, Shelly married Verdine White of Earth Wind and Fire, and Carolyn toured with Seals and Crofts, and has featured label credit on their hit single "Get Closer", and sang back-up on their live album.

@@rondothard1698 , if you look for the video here on youtube of > THE INVICTUS RECORDS STORY < the record label they were on with groups like THE 8TH DAY , CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD , HONEY CONES , FREDA PAYNE and many more. you will see what happen , CBS records bought out a lot of small black record labels in the mid seventies and only supported some of the music acts they wanted and let the contracts of others expire , so many of them acts didn't get picked up by bigger record labels and some of them made records for much , much smaller labels that didn't help their careers , [ in a nut shell that is what happened ]. but look for the video on youtube
