I was 18 in 1986 and life was easier, music better and the country as a whole was together...people were nicer. Now,with health issues,I'm looking at limited sunsets... and miss those days
Pure ENERGY. Have seldomly experienced something like their concerts, having a crowd of thousands jumping instantly from the first second of the concert.
My god!! I stumble upon this video and my brain suddenly remembers how much I loved this song and video! Man... I feel so nostalgic now.... I had my life ahead of me and thought turning 50 was so far... I still feel so young inside, and have still so much to live, but at the same time, I feel like an alien in the current era at times. Music sucks so much now, it's crazy.
The Hooters...The A's...Robert Hazard and the Heroes...the big three...always fun to turn back the clock..fun facts Eric and Rob played on Cyndi Laupers first Album She'sSo Unusual...Robert Hazard wrote girls just wanna have fun and Rob co wrote Time after Time ...ahh..thanks for the post
The more I see great bands like this, the more I want to play my bass guitar. I was 8 when this came out. Life wasn’t perfect, but it was better than now. If I had an opportunity to be transported back to the 80’s, I would STAY and never return to 2023. Tablets and (small) cellphones weren’t out there. I can ride bikes and skateboards with my friends and come home as soon as the street light turns on.
@@steveowens2505 I'm late getting back here, but you are absolutely spot-on with Maggie May which I'd say bests Day By Day. I forgot about it having the mandolin prominently in the mix!
One of those 80's gems that was never really overplayed on the radio back then or now - intertwined with my soul, so on the rare occasion I hear it again, it seems to hit like a ton of bricks of awesomeness.
Mr. Chip Yeah. See, the whole "what is and what isn't" rock thing sort of doesn't work for me at all. I never much paid attentions to genres. I like the Beatles, I like Motown, I like Mötörhead, I like Drowning Pool, I like the Carpenters. If it makes you groove, it's rock and roll to me. : )
haha yeah i get what your saying. I guess when i hear the term rock i think metallica, i think journey, i think led zeppelin, i think foo fighters etc, rock can be different for each generation. But today they call mumford and sons rock, or Lorde charts on the rock charts. I just dont get it. When i think of hooters, or flock of seagulls, or duran duran i guess i just think of it as 80s pop/new wave, not really rock
Mr. Chip The first thing you have to remember is that rock and roll only got huge because it was new to white people, who had money, and they paid for it because they heard it on the radio. Remember when radio mattered? All the genres, all the sub-genres and "I only listen to post ska musebilly, thrashcore polka" hipsters overlook two things. A - It's all allegiance based marketing and B, nobody is paying for it anymore so like all things in America that don't move money around, it's going to turn into a hobby. Each hobbyist with their little flag of uniqueness. The only people making money off of music now are rappers, country artists and Disney. Usually at the same time.
+Mr. Chip yep. Wiki says it all, have a read, you might learn something. There are different type of rock bands out there: The Hooters are an American rock band from Philadelphia as per wiki
Pretty sure the concert footage was shot at the Tower Theater and it was the night where I ended up via a friend of a friend as freelance crew pulling cable for the camera on stage right (by Robbie), next to the speaker stack. Even with ear plugs in that did lasting damage to my left ear. And forgot so much outdoor footage was shot in SF (where I live now). It's like a time capsule of parts of my life.
Good Times! I heard this song for the first time in about THIRTY YEARS at the Atlantic Terminal shopping mall in Brooklyn the other day! Blew my mind! So happy this band is remembered and treasured!
GREAT MEMORIES ! 🎶🎶 😊. 80’s were my teenage years 10-19 Such great music.... So fun, carefree, simple, and safe ! Music changes , but memories never will....🎶🎶 👍
LYRICS: > Give me what you can tonight Time is all we have to play Tell me you can't live without me Tell me every day by day by day nothing last forever, only fades way day by day Give me what you can tonight I'm back tomorrow anyway Show me some appreciation Show me every day by day by day The chance you gotta take, the price you gotta pay Day by Day. And if you break down , I will remind you, Ohh of what you were yesterday. You can break down, I'll be behind you every, every everyevery, Day by Day by Day.
Loved the 80s, the music, the feelings about all that was part of that era and just great memories and feelings. I just turned 57 and still have that feeling through music and movies. What an incredible time it was to be a teen and young adult. The best era in music and entertainment in general.
These guys were amazing!! They played a variety of instruments tbat gave them a unique sound and when mindy joined them briefly exsp with her fiddle playing was great!! Now they stil BASICALLY have the same lineup 4 30 years adding Tommy williams ! A great band 2 c in concert just a good time with the band from philly!!!
Trolling incommunicado in my CJ7, summer night, Long Beach Navy bars, little cute Vietnamese go go dancers. Taking that ride up Signal Hill with one at 2am.
+hazor777 I haven't watched MTV or VH1 in over 25 yrs. but it was great in it's inception. Reality shows took over. What will be next is anyone's guess.
+dampen damp Yeah really ! This was great music, then all of a sudden in 1987 I noticed that black zulu nation crap started creeping in. It was not bad AT FIRST, like Bust a Move and such.... However it got bad real bad real fast and turned into Hip Hop, and RAP. Both evil and from the black liberation zulu nation who are racists against anyone who is not black. And the thing that gets me the most. RAP and Hip Hop never end ! I mean music used to change every decade. This stuff just keeps polluting the world. Its been almost 30 years now. Enough !!!
+dampen damp I'm only 31 so I was barely out of diapers at that time, but it looks bizarre going back and seeing how everyone was still so worried about the Soviets in the 80s, when our society was beginning a steady decay from within. The Soviets had nothing on the instigators within our own society today.
Fun and weird fact. The girl and boy @ 2:42 are the consession stand couple from the "And We Danced" video. In my 1980's brain this was their first date and they would be in their 50's now like me with a bunch of kids.
back when cds were just getting popular i bought the hooters nervous night album and this one (can't remember the title) or maybe this was nervous night; but anyway i would drive into town with this stuff just blasting away. wish i had seen them in concert. if you liked up-tempo music, these guys played it. love ya, i'm big on hooters!!!!
Is that not Helen Hunt at :57? I've thought it had to be her ever since she became famous later. She would have been 22 at the time, and her dad and uncle were both in production. Anyone know?
As I recall, the Hooters debut album was independently released and sold about 150,000 copies in the greater Delaware Valley area. That lead to, I believe, Columbia records signing them. Their manager was Steve Mountain, who owned the three Cabaret night clubs in greater Philly. They were a great act, but they had business muscle behind them.
