One of the most shocking events in History was when the French King Louis XVI went to his execution in Paris under the guillotine. He was executed swiftly and then later his wife Marie Antoinette would also be executed on the guillotine. But one woman who was part of the French Royal family who was unfortunately also killed was Princess Elisabeth, the younger sister of King Louis XVI. She distanced herself at times from the extravagance of the French court, and she was also often critical of the French Queen, however during the Reign of Terror in France, Princess Elisabeth was arrested.
Elisabeth was seen as a victim because of the fact she was just the King's sister. Many believe that she was unfairly sentenced to death, and because of this her execution was seen as something which could have done damage to the reputation of Robespierre and The Terror. Like her brother she was quickly strapped to a board under the guillotine, before the blade was released.
