Andy touches my heart. What an amazingly loving man. David's story was made so much lighter by meeting with Andy. Real smiles and achievements. Greetings from Cambodia.

My son was diagnosed with Leukemia at 14yrs old, in remission and done with chemo for 3yrsnow(🙏) and yeah, I understand,I remember when he was on the maintenance phase(oral chemo, steroids,bi monthly spinal chemo) people thought he was just fine. People don't realize that Leukemia treatment is 3yr minimum of treatment and even after can be rough. Currently he has liver, spleen and thrombocytopenia post treatment. Remission doesn't always equate to 100%.

It is so different in the US. I am amazed everytime I view these channels how compassionate and family like the staff are to the entire family. Have we lost all our compassion and caring here in the US? It certainly seems that way.

Determination is such a massive thing in life. MND does not mess about, it takes most people extremely quickly and for David to be up on his feet and in such good spirits so close to the inevitable, speaks volumes about his determination and depth of character. RIP David.

I know in the U.S. nobody wants to go into a nursing home. It’s usually nursing home then hospice out here.

Why wouldn't the lady with lung cancer not be able to stay in hospice? Apparently it's different in the U.S than there. Nursing homes are atrocious here.

I hope that Thelma could stay at the hospice, she will receive better care than in the nursing home. I wonder how palliative care experience could encompass care for the elderly. It would enrich and deliver a better care because it would focus on attention given from one to one. The elderly would benefit greatly. Maybe, the approach would concentrate

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work in hospice. It’s more about wanting to care for others and willing to work hard and learn. If you are determined and caring you would do great.

I think what the programme makers need to stop using illness language it’s person before illness. A patient is not cancer patient it is Paul Smith living with cancer. A person still has their personality, hobbies, h interest, family, friends, job, support circle, house, flat, friendships, communities. They are not just cancer man.

If they truly wanted to be as compassionate and caring as possible aside from the amazing and wonderful services of hospice, they would also allow those that did not want to suffer until their very last moment the ability to legally and safely end their lives with dignity.

That is not a Hospice decision! You can thank our over reaching government for this decision!

You don't need euthanasia to die with dignity, and if you have the support of a hospice like this your suffering will be reduced because you have access to psychological support and good symptom management. It isn't like you are terminal and now instead of a life you have suffering. Killing the patient is not necessary for a patient to die with dignity, and it certainly doesn't help them live with dignity. There will be suffering. Having a life limiting illness is hard and takes great strength and a team around you. But it isn't all suffering. It is life, and there are good and bad times.

However,if the parents want to overprotect their dying child,I think that’s ok too! The nurse, has no right to judge them, until she’s in that situation herself. 🇨🇦

It comes from a good place. You don’t work in a palliative care unit I assume? You are now judging her professional opinion.

God bless these nurses! And she's right. The more normal and honest parents keep things you'll see a much stronger and happy child. Nurse wasn't judging! Can you imagine working w terminal children? They're angels

The best hospice care is hanging a large sign at the entrance that says “Believe On the Lord Jesus Christ and You Will Be Saved”.

It's not all about you or your beliefs. It's all about the dying, their families and their beliefs. We are there to serve, not to convert or preach. Show up, shut up and always be competent and appropriate. This includes following the conversational leads provided by the patient, not hijacking them because of your beliefs.

@@larryfroot You aren’t saved yourself yet you deny terminally ill patients the opportunity to be saved and go to Heaven. After you died, in about 1,007 years, you will stand before Judge Jesus to answer for your selfishness and be cast into the lake of fire 🔥 I posted my comment to encourage those in hospice care to look after the destiny of the dying. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus only is truth. All (Judaism, Mormonism, Hinduism, Taoism, Buddhism, etc.) so called religions don’t have the truth and won’t lead to Heaven.
