This video contains paid product placement for Motul. The Tour de France is the world’s biggest cycling event and the media attention it attracts means that brands often save their fanciest new kit for the opening days of the race.
Thankfully, our very own Simon von Bromley is like a bloodhound with a taste for new tech. He put in the hard yards, scouring the team trucks before the race began to bring you a collection of this year’s hottest tech.

Cannondale Lab 71 was the hottest bike. Waxed my chains for many years, now I get more time/mileage out of my chains by using Squirt. Thanks for sharing!!

EF Education is using the Hi-Mod frame just due to durability and stiffness. They just have the Lab 71 badge to promote the Lab 71 model but the UCI sticker lists it as CANN-S6HM which is for the Hi-Mod.

Nice video! Just one thing I am not sure about is the Roval Rapide cockpit. The website says that the smallest size available is a 38cm wide bar! So it must be that instead of a 36 👀

You, no bike shop is gonna want this taking up floor space. Plus it's far slower than a hot dip. And a crock pot on the bench is annoying enough as is. *It could be free and I wouldn't want it in my work area.

It's really not sensible for a bike shop to do this. It's significantly slower than a crock pot and it takes up a lot of floor space in a shop. But even crock pots don't make sense for shops solely due to frequency needed. It makes a lot more sense for people to drip wax at home or do their own hot waxing vs the time wasted to bring a bike to a shop and come back to pick it up for this service. I get people getting a bike zinged up for a big race but even that's better done with full submersion. This is really a tool best used by people that don't wanna deal with a normal hot waxing but have the money to not mind buying this thing.

BananaWax Drag & Friction TDF Pro Chain Wax Or Silca Pro Chain Wax I Expect, but Some Teams use Oil on there chains maybe to save weight, that's the only thing I can think of, as they have every piece of kit available, waxing a chain wouldn't take long so guess it's team preference.
