Interesting. I never found this boring, as opposed to Top Gun & Days of Thunder, both of which are basically cinematic ambien for me. This is one of his better movies imo. Love almost everything about it & it's better than a lot of the stuff he did later in his career.
yah the hunger is a classic love this one. first watched it back in 84, watched it several times since then watched it a few yeras ago, still holds strong.
well the movie was not really boring for me, and yah when I first watched the movie in 84, I was blown away by the cinematography style etc. and the acting and storyline all excellent, and of course the music, esp. with the opening track Bela Lugosi's Dead, love em.
The classics. 🙌 Good use of time. I was at this brick club called Heaven in London under the train tracks and realised it was where they shot the opening scenes so I took some amazing pictures.
Also, I dunno if you guys know but the film is based on a book by Whitley Strieber., a horror author who also wrote The Wolfen. Whitley Strieber claimed to have had an alien encounter and wrote a book about it called Communion which he marketed as non-fiction and a film was made from it staring Christopher Walken.
yah the cinematography of the Hunger reminds me very much of blade runner, and all Tony Scott's movies has that Ridley scott blade runner like cinematography right up until Domino. Watched A-Team and Taking of Pelham 123 , and he seems to change cinematorgraphy tact here.
Ending of this movie is confusing because studio pushed for a last-minute change in hope of a sequel. In original ending Susan Sarandon character supposed to kill herself, refusing eternal life and that brakes "the spell" Miriam has over her lovers, they attack her and kill her, setting themselves free. It makes more sense.
i got those into the darkness blu rays in awhile back. i need to dive into them soon. i’ve been running through Clint Eastwood films. so much content to watch.
New to your channel and I love this review and the rawness of your page. With that said, I can see a CLEAR DIRECT "inspiration" for AHS:Hotel. Ryan Murphy directly stole( I mean borrowed) ideas for the show from THE HUNGER. AND being fair.....if THE HUNGER was to be remade...LADY GAGA Would be the most perfect vampire queen.....no?
I know I watched this movie a looong time ago. I must have been a teenager. I honestly cannot remember a single thing about it other than I didn’t like it. Maybe I should watch it again to see if I feel the same way.
I’m doing the same thing watching movies from ISOD and Agreed this movie was boring as fuck. Thanks for this honest review. I can see why people like this but it’s not for me.
