I normally have a great time at KublaCon, I didn't get to play as many games as I normally do but got some good gaming in and even demo'd Lunar Rush and picked it up. Really fun con

I absolutely LOVE Scarface 1920, but it's absolutely the kind of game that REQUIRES you to leave your emotions on the table. Go out, cause some chaos, brush off the wild moments you get caught up in and just have fun with it. Thankfully it does tend to balance out those overly aggressive players with the Raid track, and I'm yet to see someone actually win by focusing too much on kicking over someone else's toys instead of focusing on building out their resources for sale and being opportunistic with the aggression. It's a big teach, though fortunately flows really nicely once it's clicked in. I also created an orders reference guide (boardgamegeek.com/filepage/257796/scarface-1920-orders-reference-sheets). If you give it another go, make sure you have these handy as they're a huge help.

No Dungeon Crawls? We obliviously have different tastes in games. Although, #4, RelicBlade sounds interesting.

Was the other guy Brad Pitt? Aelderman was an interesting game. A first play of a heavy euro is usually a mixed bag with me. Following the game, my initial reaction was, meh, but then I found myself mentally coming back to it over the rest of the con. Like a good euro, there’s a puzzle in there, and the more I thought about it, the more I started moving the pieces around in my head trying to fit them together, and then the more I wanted those pieces in my hand to see if the picture made sense. RelicBlade is an absolute gem. COVID ended our regular group, but now I’m hoping to get it going again. I was a bit ashamed to have unpainted minis in my bag though. Ironwood seems really fascinating. I’ll have to keep an eye out for that. As for Mindclash, IMO, Voidfall is great, especially if you like point salad games. However, I’m currently leaning more towards Fractal for my space 4x fix. I’ve played Fractured Sky at 3, 4, and 5 player. Honestly, I think it shines at 5. They just did a campaign for a mini expansion, which may give you that added depth you’re looking for. I’m glad I backed the recent Castles of Burgundy campaign for the beautiful tiles. I typically only play it in the app, but that’s too gorgeous to pass up.
