Jake seems… off. I agree with OP that on paper they would make a good couple, but the fact that he’s willing to manipulate the situation like this just feels off-putting for reasons I can’t quite put to words. In my opinion, OP should cut out Jake and Amy entirely, and reduce contact with her husband to what’s necessary for their daughters.
Comment section passes the vibe check, I think OP needs to be on her own for a while. She’s basically never been alone in her entire adult life, she probably has things to figure out about herself before she can feel comfortable in a relationship
Your husband is still at your house because youre the bread winner.. Hes a cheating dog and not worthy of your love and is diminishing your mental health.. BUT, the APs husband sounds nuts.. Do not jump into that cluster F**k situation. Kick husband out and file for divorce and put distance between you and weird guy until you can think more clearly..
OP needs to stop being a doormat for Ryan. She's insane to still be with him after his cheating and borderline deranged to stay with him even after he threatened her with physical harm. Ridiculous, no matter how seriously she takes her marriage vows. And jumping into a relationship with Jake, who she's only met once, would under such tumultuous circumstances be insanity as well. Zero chance of working. It will only make things worse. She needs to be ALONE for a long time and figure herself out before she jumps into another relationship.
This is a complicated one. It is easy to say that your husband broke the vows and is not putting any effort into fixing them, so you're set for a divorce. However, the joy Jake made you feel tells me that you've put your own needs so far on the back burner that you lost a huge chunk of yourself. My suggestion would be to focus on that. Find what needs you are starved from and how to fulfill those needs in a positive way, then revisit the question about who should be with who.
