I can appreciate the level of craftsmanship and acknowledge the benefits of using these for therapy and medical training. That being said, I think I would pass out if I saw one in my house.
@@alucard4344Here's the problem. Innocent people like you can't possibly imagine the horrors that creepy people commit, so you joke about others "projecting" when they bring this crap up. Unfortunately these are very real issues that need to be brought up.
People always talk about how women use these when grieving a baby, but from what I've seen, almost no one has them for that reason. Most collectors just have them because they like them. I also know one woman with a mild intellectual disability who has a few and treats them as her babies. She knows they're not "real" but it seems to be a good outlet for her.
well, that’s a good use for them too, i suppose. if it helps a person deal with a hardship like loss or helps them be able to take care of a “baby” then it’s good
I think your last point marks the line between it being a hobby/therapy thing and being a mental issue. If the person is fully aware that it’s not a real baby then it’s fine, they can pretend whatever they want.
I have a family member who literally spends thousands of dollars on dolls like this. She even carries them around in actual baby seats and has strollers for them. Creepiest thing I've ever seen
My Nan would make them and name them after family members including me and my son lol, she was very good at what she did but I always found them creepy to be totally honest haha
@@averyream1196 I dont have any, I'm not sure if there are any left from when she passed away, if there are they've probably been passed on to younger family members I think
I love those dolls! What is even greater is that they can be used to teach on a more realistic scale! Those people are super talented! To create and paint that level of realism is incredible!❤
The craftsmanship with these dolls is absolutely amazing! I can imagine these are also great for nursing homes, especially for some dementia patients. When given dolls or dog/cat plushies for the patients to care for they where doing a lot better psychogically. These dolls are likely to expensive for most facilities though
My sister was unable to have biological children and she owned several of these dolls and eventually was able to adopt 2 children as well as having 6 stepchildren. She passed away 4 months ago but being a mother was her whole world. RIP sis
Dementia & Alzheimers. A very significant use for dolls like this not even mentioned in this video is in our elderly population. Older folks can become hyper fixated on their baby, and need to check on their child. Their child is 60 years old and they are looking for a baby. No amount of explaining or reorienting will help. Hand the older person a baby doll and all is well because they have their child.
we made those in my art college when we had to have a stunt or replacement babies, we hand sculpted the babies, casted them and painted, i sculpted myself when i was three months old, it was creepy af but also was better then making up a random baby, i actually did way to good of a job and it was impossible to tell the difference between a real baby and my prop
At one time, not that long ago. Theyd give teens realistic dolls that would cry. And it had a micro chip that showed if you were good parents or not. Alot of babies came back with proof of shaken baby and neglect. I think they need to do that again, this time using these babies.
@@angrydonutface7420 yes they are art pieces, but they can be used for that in future, which also been explained in the video. they're used for medical purposes, but once technology gets way better, they can be used for training purposes as well.
It may seem "creepy" for anyone who will never understand people who actually need this kind of "doll". Whether it's creepiness or therapeutic intervention, one cannot easily judge. Each to their own.
Sure, I can easily judge. It is mental illness to collect these kinds of dolls, especially to walk around with them like they are real. It's not difficult to understand. Those kinds of people need psychological assistance from a professional, not an incredibly expensive and creepy coping mechanism.
These people are very talented and these dolls can help people that can't have kids or they can help older people like my great grandmother who has mental disorders it makes her happy. I do think some of the dolls are a little creepy, but the details and time put in them is incredible. But the blue avatar baby is very cute tho ^w^
These are absolutely nightmare fuel. This was a very hard video to watch. I understand why they're a thing, but I could easily spend the rest of my life never seeing one again and I'd be very happy.
@@beckstheimpatient4135When I was living for some short while with my grandparents they had this creepy doll in the bedroom. I SLEPT IN THAT ROOM. Also whenever my grandparents left house I had to stay in the living room and shut the door or go outside because the thought that I am alone with that doll was unbearable.
There was a great documentary on British TV called "My Fake Baby." One very sad case was a grandmother who had been unable to see her grandson who had moved to Australia. She had a fake baby made to look like him and she was very attached to the fake doll. When she was able to FaceTime with her grandson who was now several years older, he told her she was"creepy" act like the doll was a real baby. She broke down crying.
There' a lot of videos and documentaries out there, from the people who make them to those who "care" for them...I've jumped down this rabbit hole before 😅
This sure is nice work/craft and even more valuable if it can help in a therapeutic/medical field but yeah wouldn't say creepy but kind of "uncanny valley" deranging thing.
It’s human nature. According to science, anything close to a real human look to a certain level but not 100% will give humans that creepy feeling. It’s not because people are mean or anything.
I’m a reborn doll artist & this type of work is extremely hard but very relaxing comforting to me knowing I’m bringing love around the world I’m leaving behind my footprints in my babies
I'd love an avatar character baby, so cute! I'd still probably handle the doll like it was an actual baby, being its so realistic looking ... its kinda freaky...
If you didn't know better and walked in on this you'd just be so horrified lol what a highly delicate process it takes from start to finish and the details seem so painstaking but what an art though, very cool.
Reborn baby dolls are quite creepy. For those who can’t naturally have children, I suppose they can be great replacements for a real infant. We know for certain that they’re meticulously crafted to enhance the whole realism factor.
Yeah there is something creepy about realistic stuff like this. Like no matter how realistic this doll is, it is never fully convinced human. Like we always knew it was fake, no matter how realistic it is. Deeper we look, deeper we will find how artificial it is. Just like CGI or video game, there is some unexplainable quality that gives off its artificiality. IMO, they aren’t a great replacement.
They’re also great for people who’ve had a miscarriage or their baby passed away… sadly miscarriages are super common in early pregnancy and it’s impossible to completely avoid fatal complications after birth. Especially with multiples since they’re usually born early and smaller
These dolls are receiving so much care and love than actual babies who are abandoned by their parents. The artists here are amazing but it still kinda makes me sad.
Some of the people who get these babies can’t properly take care of a real baby because of disabilities or money problems so these babies could be a good way for them to get that experience without putting a real baby in danger. Same thing with pedophiles. Shouldn’t they have a nonhuman objects to get off to so the real Children can stay safe?
Im in a somewhat adjacent hobby (doll collecting which requires similar supplies for repairs and maintenance) and from what ive seen most people just collect them like you would any other weird art form, thankfully it seems creeps are quickly ousted from the community tho I do not blame you for assuming the worst 😭
The museum I work for now in Hong Kong is hosting an exhibition by Patricia Piccinini, and her studio makes silicone sculptures just like these, minus the animatronics :)
I think buying these type of dolls for people who dont know how to hold or feed a baby is perfect. For me im always nervous holding a baby because i wasn't really tought how to hold a babies head the correct way so having a doll like these are a good teaching tool for adults and even children
I first saw one such doll on this great show called Servant, was amazed by its realism. There are some truly nice bits with the reborn doll in the first two seasons.
A lot of people seem to be, but I don't understand why. These are baby dolls, most pedos aren't after infants (obviously some are), most can't afford them. Many commenting along these lines but it's an offer blown fear
I don’t understand why these brands work in a market more popular like fashion dolls which is probably 2× more popular and a more active community then these realistic babies.
I appreciate the work that goes into this. They are very detailed and the artists are very talented but that being said these creep me out so much. They send me into the uncanny valley and I would want them far away from me.
I wish they would've blurred out the genitalia in this video. It's kinda triggering for someone who dealt with sa and it's disgusting because Ik some creep is watching this video just for those brief scenes😢
Oh I wish I could have a girl and a boy that move their eyes, mouth, breath, as well a being able to feed them a bottle and food. Also have the realistic skull where you can feel their fontanels and their cranial ridges, baack hair and very dark brown or black eyes, if those adorable also made all the baby sounds. The would be a very big seller. I can't ever have them but they would help other women that have had miscarriages like I did. This is just an idea. You and the rest of the people that all work together to create such Amazingly Awsome babies are soooo talented.☺
So many people here worrying about creeps and pedo and although I can understand. If a creep is rich enough to afford one of those they likely have more then the mean to harm a real life child. 😬Thus I think the fear of that is overblown. And the main buyers are movies and the medical profession as well as the collectors. I also feel the uncanny valley effect but remember to not stigmatize the people that need them or love them as art objects or dolls. It's a pastime like any others and the hobbyists who do no harm must receive enough flack for it. As someone into anime when it wasn't popular and mainstream and everyone thought you were a creepy nerd I can tell you this comment section have almost a similar vibe. Those that are in the furry community sadly know what I'm talking about to this day. So please, you don't have to like it but don't be jerk and think that everyone who want or need those are pedo.
I'm blown away at the technical accomplishment while being equally disturbed by the "collectors" who buy these. I can understand the value for training and therapy, but someone who wants to have these as "dolls"; I'd like to have faith in humanity but history tends to disagree
YO PIENSO KE SON UNA OBRA DE ARTE ESTOS BEBES Y MUERO POR TENER UNO..YA KE LOS VEO TAN ESPECIALES ..MUERO DE AMOR CADA VEZ KE LOS VEO..SUEÑO CON TENER UNO ...PERO PORKE SON ELEVADOS SUS PRECIOS ME ES IMPOSIBLE COMPRAR UNO😭😭😭😭🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
The only unacceptable part is for them to brand these as "REBORN"? Out of millions of vocabularies that transcends language/culture, "REBORN" is THAT ONE word? Come on! I am glad I clicked on this by accident, I thought it was some crazy "my baby passed, but my baby is reborn" kind of thing. Damn.
