About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist from Tulane University. She is a Louisiana State University Medical Center graduate and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She is also a Certified Menopause Specialist through The Menopause Society.
Dr. Haver was a clinical professor at UTMB and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Haver has served as a Hospitalist, Associate Residency Director, and Assistant Professor in her career. In 2021 she opened Mary Claire Wellness, a clinic dedicated to caring for the menopausal patient.
Dr. Haver has amassed over 3 million followers across social media by posting advice for women going through menopause. She understands that menopause healthcare is in dire need of change and is proud to be leading the conversation.
Her educational background and her own experience led Dr. Haver to develop the national bestselling book and online program, The Galveston Diet, a three-pronged lifestyle plan that encourages fuel refocusing, intermittent fasting, and anti-inflammatory nutrition to manage hormonal

As an RN preach it girl. You are speaking truth!!!! What is really sad is women have taken part in this thinking also. I see female doctors and nurses with this thinking it needs to stop. Thanks for be brave for those that do not have enough courage. Be BOLD. The medical community needs reform in the worst way . People are suffering and dying needlessly. I saw it all at the hospital everyday. The US does not take care of people.

I am wondering why I was denied any HRT because I was on Medicaid. I was asked to hang around until the staff could see me for a blood draw. While I sat at the lab, three men trotted past saying they loved the Viagra they were getting from Medicaid. So I asked the young woman who drew my blood why they'll ok the Viagra, but deny me any HRT ?. She said " The men NEED IT TO STAY HEALTHY". I looked at her and said "You may find out for yourself when you are in my shoes". She rolled her eyes and said " It's ALL IN YOUR HEAD !". THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN 2014. ( I wonder if she takes Black Cohosh now !!!).

I've been made fun of for having fear of going to doctors. To me, going to the doctor in the US, Is like playing Russian roulette. If you're lucky, you might get one that can possibly help you some. But if you're not lucky, you can get one that can ruin your life ! Just ask anyone who has been a victim of the health care system.

Went to my new Gyn NP looking to start HRT. Was sent home with a scrip for antidepressant that I do not plan to take because I do not think I need. The risks far outweigh the benefits with this drug. My new Gyn is now my former Gyn.

Very true. For years I went from doctor to doctor (male and female) seeking answers for very disturbing symptoms only to be told not to worry it's just menopause. Tg I persisted because it turned out to be an autoimmune disease.

Spot on, Dr Haver! Thank you for speaking this truth! Medical trauma is real! Especially for women, even more for women of color etc. This is a sad mirror of society and patriarchy. now is the time to change! And medical gynochology will hopefully learn ! I hope future gynecologists will also learn to make birthing more respectful for women. Women are sadly experiencing a lot of medical trauma.

When I heard Dr drew trigger a memory from what I've learned previously that the moon has a pull on females menstrual cycles. Well, kind of. I just heard if we're around each other enough, we develop the same cycles & I've seen it. I do think the elderly act suspicious when the moon starts looking funky tho. But I don't even keep w/ the moons cycles to confirm anything. Unless someone else pts it out, or I notice it omw home. Even as the astrological sign, cancer that I am :/. Although my pattern is def from middle to last days & I still don't know y. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess only me. Prob some scientists/ medical expert/astrologist(?) : mmmhmmm🤔

I’m a 48 year old woman, I told my Doctor that I was experiencing hot flashes at night and would like to talk about my options on hormonal therapy. She suggested 2 antidepressants. She said that’s what is normally used for hot flashes. I’m looking for another Doctor.

I’m 53. Every time I go to a doctor I feel dismissed, over everything. Be it pain, illness or injury. It never occurred to me that it was because I’m female! But yes. My husband goes to the doctor and is treated like a king! It pisses me off. Health care is the only place I experience this discrimination. Wtf? I went to the ER with stroke-like symptoms after taking a medication. The doctor on call interviewed me. I knew it was going south when he started asking me about my menstrual cycles. I was sent home with a diagnosis of "conversion disorder," which he informed me was very rare and he had only met WOMEN to ever have this "mental illness." It was actually pressure on the brain, a rare side effect from doxycycline. LADIES, ALWAYS BRING A MAN AS YOUR ADVOCATE TO YOUR MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. I swear, you are treated completely differently.

And the word “Hysterectomy” comes from the word Hysteria which comes from the Greek word Hystera which means womb or uterus. The meaning infers the removal of the womb will remove female hysteria

The hysterical female actually had advanced pulmonary NTM. The "highly anxious" patient had a sweat test result of 60. The doctor treating the NTM was the head of the CF clinic. He told me in a condescending manner "You just got unlucky getting the NTM". I thought "Yeah right". So I sought 3 other specialist and 2 were men that gave me the same "hysterical patient" shit. You can only guess the maturity of the 2 year old Head of CF when he got the news. Made life even more difficult for me....

After years of complaing of pain, etc and not being "heard" I was getting emotional and was told see a therapist. I saw a physciatrist would tell me Im depressed because of my health and tell my drs that. He even told me he told my drs. Got no different from my drs. Still trying to get healthy! I think maybe low gov insurance might play a part and the treat one symptom at a time not the root problem. 😮‍💨

Im 58 yrs old. Gave birth to seven babies. I was also a trained practical nurse. I learned to avoid MDs as much as possible. I often already know the diagnosis and have fully researched it before I go in for that rare appt. Of course I recite the propet symptoms...play slightly dumb until I have the prescription I already had a fairly good idea it would be. Otherwise I treat my own issues if possible with natural remedies. Currently Im under the care of a Functional Medicine MD for my buo identical HRT. In my opinion the healthcare industry can be dangerous to navigate. And the least you depend on it the healthier you will be in the long haul.

I don’t know if anyone will see this but- I’m 18 and I’m basically $10k+ in medical debt due to this. I had to go to the ER many many times because I was in excruciating pain constantly, I was and still am chronically ill. Every time I went they’d dismiss me and tell me they didn’t have the equipment to test me. So I went to a gynecologist to see maybe if I had some sort of issue there because I’ve always had excruciating periods. My OB/GYN refused to run tests on me because I was uninsured. He just put me on birth control that made me much more sick. Fast forward a few months after bleeding for a really long time- I ended up in the hospital where this really sweet PA ran ultrasounds on me and told me that my uterus and my ovaries were PERFECTLY HEALTHY. Just now am finding out after two years that I may have a life-threatening bowel disease.

My cousin went to multiple male doctors because she was having headaches and problems with her eyesight. They all told her it was just stress because she's a single mother. Turns out she had a brain tumor pressing on her optic nerve. Thank you for talking about this. Every time I go to the doctor, I am preparing to be gaslighted and told 'it's just stress.' This world simply fears women, the concept of 'hysterical female' is just another way privileged white men keep women down.

The female doctors I had were worst then the male doctors. I thought going to a female Dr because of shared gender, I could find help. They were cold and uncaring. One OBYN wouldn’t respond to my comments or answer my questions. I was dumbfounded, I thought maybe she couldn’t hear me. So, I would repeat myself louder but still no response. I am billed for all the tests but have no answers. All I got was birth control pills which are not safe. Thanks but no thanks to our “wonderful “ healthcare.

A lot of women experience pain during sex, a lot of women suffer from vaginismus, vulvodynia, endometriosis etc.. and yet we often need to spend a fortune, a lot of time and energy to get any help, often even then we don't receive proper help for it

Any tips on shrinking fibroids? I have extremely heavy bleeding during my cycle. I was so excited to start skipping my period until I almost needed a blood transfusion during the last one. Dr has me on progesterone and iron. But I have to wait atleast 6 months before a hysterectomy... keeping ovaries. The 10, 7, 4, and 3cm in diameter fibroids and one cyst... are really uncomfortable to live with until surgery. How can I shrink fibroids naturally?
