I have to say I read all the comments to this video and I thought to reply for one reason. I own the I30N Performance so I speak from experience to read the comments people have left regarding this car they seem to put a downer on this Hyundia which is not exactly true why everyone is dumping on this fantastic wee car. Yes I have the March 2018 model the one in this video was the 2019 model had a slight upgrade. The problems I experienced were I had the alarm problem got that fixed, 5th & 6th gear synchro rings sticking I got that fixed under warranty, the ECU was replaced under warranty, I did not have the head liner wiring rattle problem, or widow rattle or phone call problems, I still have the radio problem as it will on occasional conditions just turn off then reboot, it does not happen as often and I don't really bother about it. The car seats are velour material like a felt nap I never had the problem spoken about in the video and the place where I park my arse while driving still looks as good as the day I got the car from new. Front head lights still fog up got those replaced under warranty and they still fog up on cold days so don't know what's happening there though it does clear with time this only happens in the colder weather conditions. I hope the front day light running / indicator lights never go faulty as that piece of plastic costs £1000 + vat per fog light, ouch. My car is now out of warranty just had it's 5th service roughly £180 plus one years breakdown cover thrown in so not bad really. The car is solidly built I have had my car sitting for 10 weeks as I broke my leg it was in a cast when I was able to drive again the battery was flat so I charged the car battery threw it back into the car and pressed the start stop button and vroom away it went never misses a heart beat. Don't read to much into other people lambasting this wee car or believe what other write regarding the reliability of the Hyundai i30N, I'm keeping my i30n for a very long time as it is both reliable and trouble free it has 70,000 miles on the clock and it goes like a rocket, I'm telling you it is the best fun car to drive. This is to @PabloM5 I have mud flaps on my I30n in fact I have a full body kit, and OZ Alloys Induction kit, a few other treats under the hood makes my car look & sound different not by much as you wouldn't notice as it is very subtle no remap as it doesn't need it, I like the mud flaps on my car other people have told me they look ghastly take them off no I'm keeping them on as I like them. Finally. I don't usually write reviews but I own this car in question and I know it is a well screwed together car it wall last you as long as any other car on the road and maybe fair bit longer. Buy this car you definitely wont be disappointed, and as they have been discontinued by Hyundai so from 2024 you wont be able to buy any more because of the Euro 7 emissions regulations for greener hybrids family orientated SUV type vehicles so these I30N's they will become quite a rare car on the open road I think I have seen five I30N cars in total so it is good that you don't see very many on the open road, everyone looks at car and I get asked questions while filling up at a gas station so everyone want to look and chat about the car it its amazing the response I get from folks it does turn heads that's for sure. Finally the front hood weighs a ton I am amazed at the weight as usually South Korean made cars are light not the Hyundai I30N, not bad for a construction company that was founded by Chung Ju Yung in 1947. Sorry for the long essay but I had a lot to say. Peace, respect.
man reading your comment put really smile on my face. i bought my n last year 2023 dct version and i cant say how much fun im having with the car, its my daily car and it can be regular car but with switch of a button you unleash this beast. there are ofc some things i dont like, like for example poor front lights, sound systen, materials inside cabin and some squeaking noise from back of the car during sporty drive but i wanted to buy this car for many years and finaly was able to afford it and i can only recommend to anyone who is thinking about i30n to just get the car. everytime i walk away from my car i have to turn back and look how sexy that car look. i just love it.
@@souztaks5804 well i choose those bucket seats not for comfort but for driving experience. but so far i havent had any discomfort while driving for longer period. definetly if you are bigger guy they might be not the best option
The Hyundai 2019 130n great chassis and a great engine. A match for the Ford 2020 ST 2.3 Focus. And the best Golf GTI 2019 mark 7.5. Hyundai 5 year warranty.
Phone call problem the speakers is fixed with a software update. I've had two an I'm getting the facelift version next week. I've been a main dealer master technician working on many brands over 38 years and I can recommend this car. 👌
I'm in Australia & some of the issues on 2018 that you have we have as well, but they were normally covered under warranty, I have done a few mods for when I track mine.1.Forge short shifter 2. Strengthening plates on the wishbones (increases steering response slightly) 3. Poweflex bush on the dog bone ( to elevate axle tramp). Pipercross oiled air filter .4 res delete 5. 5" exhaust tips. 6 front & rear slotted rotors + Hyundai high performance brake pads. Love the car and no intention of getting rid of it.
bought ym 2020 of this and had gearbox issue fixed and it has been perfect since then. warranty has worked perfect by hyundai, can recommend these little beasts.
Fuel issues were with very first cars late 2017 (67). Alarm issue can be if you back car too close to a wall. The rear parking sensors can cause the alarm to go off as they for part of the perimeter alarm system, I think. Seat creases on drivers bolster is common and normally pretty bad. Infotainment system can get too hot especially on sunny days causing it to switch off. 5th and 8th gear issue can be due to gearbox oil very cold along with selector . A very good car to drive but wheel hop really bad especially if tyres are cold. For similar money a used Audi S3 will leave the Hyundai for dead because it needs 4 wheel drive to plant the power. However on a track the Hyundai can be more fun and so much nicer than a Golf GTI (even club sport not very good). 7 out of 10 seems fair and the I30N is cheaper to insure. Yes I owned a I30N and miss it.
@@dennispapadopoulos7279 Gear box was done under warranty as it was a known issue. Rear parking sensor issue was fixed by not parking too close to a wall etc. service cost was £200 ish
Just subscribed, I have a 22 plate Kona N, great car but I do occasionally hear a rattle, appears to be around the dash/windscreen area or possibly the head up display, but it is a far better built car than my AMG A35 was, that was the worst car I’d ever owned, it rattled from everywhere and the Mercedes dealer never managed to fix it to my satisfaction, I’ve actually owned 4 Mercedes cars since 2012 and have had problems with all of them.
I have a 2021 n performance manual (facelift model) pretty sure most of these issues have been rectified from factory now. Havent had any issues with any points of my car so far and have put 16,000 kilometers on it since getting it 6 months ago.
Em needs jail time for adding those rear mud guards and for also looking at you funny for revving a car that’s literally designed to rev. Imagine owning this and not ever doing launch control, that’s why the base model i30 exists
What a legend, great video man. Car sounds great, the colour is dirt and the interior needed more attention. Em wishes she heard from you before buying :) keep up the good work lads👍
Subscribed to the channel. Nothing against scotland or scottish folk but i think the channel name needs to change or needs a subheading. Something more on the nose like "SCC Common faults for used cars" or something would make more sense, hopefully get you more views and grow the channel. Useful advice on this channel, just needs more exposure.
My guess would be all the electronics inside the car it’s rammed full of gimmicks and controls plus they tried hard to keep it a normal car when you want it to be so there’s still a lot of sound insulation etc where the likes of type r and rs cars throw that away for a rawcus feel to the car the N uses electronics to change the feeling plus the likes of electric seats etc all add weight. They could of stripped some weight by added thinks like aluminium bonnet and things like that but, that adds the £££ on top and they wanted to keep the cost down. So I think it’s the lesser of two evils either charge what Volkswagen and Honda charge or stick with the weight and it still has amazing capabilities.
I've had Hyundai's my whole life, and every single one had fuel pump issues, where it sounds like its hard for it to start up. But on the i30n it happens but only when the car has been sitting there for a few days it occurs.
@@TRACKSTARRR As someone who has been lucky enough to daily drive both a 2013 mercedes c250 coupe and an 2017 audi s3 hatchback, I can pretty much say that the i30N is the most fun car and the high touch points of the vehicle is good quality. This is after a recent “full-send” test drive of my mate’s i30N premium DCT. Sure, the build quality isn’t as premium as the european models, but fun factor and reliability is high with a 5 year warranty. Just depends how much u care about “luxury” and “refinement” vs “performance” and “fun factor”.
@@TRACKSTARRR was to just show that I have been in European vehicles which have nicer materials and whether that is necessary in a car like the i30N. JDM cars are so popular at least here in Australia and they have cheap interior plastic but the cars are raw and engaging to drive.
a 7:10 because a minority of issues ,that dont happen in the majority of the cars , you can have a missus who is a 10/10 but she is going to have issues lol ,, but like your hot missus , this car is satisfies you in more ways than one , owned mine for a year and love it , now just have to find that 10 out 10 missus lol
@@flap1xx trust is a human concept it doesn't actually exist, you can't ever say for sure that one car is better than another but a 5 year warranty speaks for itself, they know what they're doing
Hey! The DCT is still very new so it's hard to gauge reliability. We haven't seen any big problems as of yet. It does use a wet clutch system which is generally the most reliable set up. On the test drive watch out for any juddering or harsh gear changes as these systems are quite refined now. The Elantra & Avante N's we'll cover in seperate videos from the i30n soon!
Hey Shane! I own a DCT within the first three months I need a fuel injector and a full set of spark plugs car was off the road for 2 months waiting on the parts.
So basically if you want this car be prepared to have tonnes of problems 😂 not what you want from a car like this if I was you I’d save up a little more and get a focus RS
@@stevenwilkins3687earliy models used head gasket from the ecoboost mustang, which tends to crack. 😬 I wouldn’t trust any new car if i were you they are nowhere near as reliable as older cars.
These things are junk. They are so cheaply made, seats fall apart. Dash rattles. Doors rattle. Windows rattle. The battery fails when parked up for longer than a week. The steering wheel marks just by looking at it. The infotainment screen is soft plastic and flexes when you press it. The paint is so thin it chips just from cold weather. The turbo actuator arm linkage will fail. The exhaust manifold will rattle. The bushings fail before 30k miles. Looks great, but an absolute load of cheap plastic rubbish. Don't touch the DCT, the clutch pack will fail and Hyundai will laugh at you when you try to make a warranty claim (ask me how I know!).
@@HyperBiker mate German would eat this N for breakfast . You would rather take an N over a S3 or golf R . goes to show how much h you really know about cars lol
@@islamicreminders3090 Probably would, but it would cost you £10-15000 more for the privilege with higher insurance and running costs and you would just be another follower and susceptible to the power of influence and advertising. And yes. I've had both, but a GTi rather than an R, and they are nothing but boring overpriced and expensive to maintain. The dealers only want to talk to you if you have a wad of fifties sticking out of your pocket and don't want to know you after you've handed over the cash. My S3 cost over a £1000 a year just to keep on the road with repairs and when I finally thought everything was sorted, the cylinder head decided to crack. In hindsight, I don't remember being enthralled by the driving experiences of any of the German cars I've owned and people just thought I was rich coz I owned an Audi or BMW. People want to talk to you about your car when you have a German marque but shut down almost instantly when I mention I have a i30N. The guy who developed this car was the same guy who developed BMW M cars. He's done a great job.
